I am burning a CD with different songs on it for a book project for school. I read a murder mystery type of book, so any songs that are kind of mysterious sounding, gloomy, scary, or anything you think would fit with it. Needs to be appropriate to give to my teacher though.
Thanks
Run through a lot of Middle-Late Radiohead. Tracks like "Pyramid Song", "How to Disappear Completely" can be rather creepy, and tracks like "Climbing up the Walls" is downright scary. I don't know if any of this is what you're looking for. Oh, and look up a lot of Classical and Modern Classical music. Impressionist era Classical would probably have something of what you're looking for - just read the title, and the piece will probably reflect the mood or scenario suggested by the title. |
Hey i need some help with iron maiden, i tryed to downloading alot of songs, but theyre fakes, so i need to know which cd is best to buy. is rock in rio a live CD that's kind of like a greatest hits CD?
You've gotten some bad information under your post. Live After Death and Rock In Rio are both excellent Live albums. The best Greatest hits to get is probably Best Of The Best, when it comes to song quantity (it's two discs). If you want some good old fashioned metal, try Iron Maiden, Killers, Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind or Powerslave. A more melodic version of Maiden is Somewhere In Time, and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, which is even more of a departure. From then on (No Prayer For The Dying, Fear Of The Dark, Virtual XI, or X Factor) they play a more aggressive, simpler version of Maiden's original style, and then return to full glory with Brave New World and Dance Of Death, both of which feature the 'classic' Maiden line-up plus Janick Gers. Hey, I'm looking for some bands that are like Jane's Addiction or any band with a good singer.
|
Check out Porno For Pyros (Perry Farrell's project after Jane's), if you haven't already. They have two albums, both of which are good, but not amazing. Worth checking out if you're a Jane's fan though.
Other than that, check out both boyhitscar and Anyone's self-titled albums. Both rather Jane's-like in certain ways. I can upload some tracks for you to check out, if you'd like. |
Sure that'd be great. I love P4P already!
|
Okay, here's a few tracks uploaded;
Porno for Pyros - 100 Ways Porno for Pyros - Tahitian Moon First, a couple of tracks actually involving Perry Farrell. This is his post-Jane's project, Porno for Pyros. I never really got into them that much (despite loving Jane's), but I have both of their albums anyway. These two tracks are both from their second album, Good God's Urge, which is somewhat better than the first, self-titled one. boyhitscar - Lovecore (Welcome to) boyhitscar - As I watch the Sun F*ck the Ocean boyhitscar are a kind of alt. rock band. They only have one album that I know of, their self-titled one, from which both of these tracks come; after that, they've been having troubles with bassists and drummers I think, so they haven't been able to record a follow-up. Anyway, I always associate them very closely with Jane's Addiction. The shout of "three, four!" at the start of As I Watch the Sun Fuck the Ocean might as well be a Perry Farrell sample, but the vocalist doesn't often imitate him. Anyone - Don't Wake Me Anyone - Kissing God These last two tracks are by Anyone. They're a much more obviously "psychedelic" band - they used to hold huge free concerts, with free drugs for all who came, in big warehouses - and occasionally they sound a little gimmicky, but there's some good stuff on their album, which again is self-titled. I think it's their only release, apart from a self-released live album from the warehouse drug-festival days, which I don't have. Hope you like something here, and I hope someone else downloads them too, so all this doesn't go to waste. |
anyone who likes classic rock and/or metal should check out the band Angel Witch. cited by members of both Metallica and Megadeth as a big influence. plus i think they're fu_king cool.
|
Hey thanks I checked out Anyone so far "Kissing God" Only played for about 10 secounds till it looped.
Wow great song, "Dont Wake Me" I'll have to check out their CD. Very poppy-ish sounding song or at least the Chorus is. Yet dancable like Janes Addiction. I like all the bands P4P is a very slower and more mature JA. Thanks for the good bands. |

Are you looking for bands that are heavy on bass? |
Okay, I need a few recommendations.
First, what do you think is the best Death Cd? I'm leaning towards Human, but I'm not sure yet. Next, what Testament Cd would you guys recommend? Also, what Dream Theater Cd would you recommend? And Lastly, what Opeth Cd would you recommend? I already have Blackwater Park, and I love it. |

Songs to download from Tool...
Well, the more rockish songs are: Stinkfist Sober Parabol/Parabola For something heavy, download Ticks and Leeches For just straight Tool greatness: Lateralus Third Eye Forty Six and Two Eulogy Push it The Grudge It's hard to think of a bad Tool song. Those lists are definetly incomplete. Your almost safe downloading anything. |

For heavier stuff, go with "Train of Thought" or "Awake." For lighter stuff than the above albums, I enthusiastically recommend "Scenes From a Memory," and "Images and Words." I can send them your way so you can try 'em before you buy 'em :) Just let me know through this thread. |

I don't know a lot of Genesis, but I know Cinema Show rocks my world. |
I don't suppose anyone can help me find his band...
I think their name is something along the lines of long-time dead and they play thrash metal kind of music. If anyone could help that would be great, thanks. |
