To really run protools you need a protools compatible rig. There are demos out there that you can run on a PC or Mac, but for the real deal you need the hardware too.

Anyone wanting to go the home recording route, buying a Mac is a nobrainer.

repcak 05-31-2005 11:23 AM

thanks.
i will try out audio logic first, i think ( i can get it from a friend). it is a mac software but runs even on windows :thumb:

ps.: don't let this thread die !!! (42 sites, 1037posts....)

Magicaltroll 06-05-2005 10:17 PM

So anyone thought of doing the cover thread thing?
I was thinking we could do an acoustic version of a song.
Like maybe Hurt or Something I can Never Have or something like that.

Good idea? Lame idea?

Magicaltroll 06-06-2005 04:49 PM

Anyone?

ATM 06-06-2005 04:55 PM

Would it be just you playing?

Magicaltroll 06-06-2005 05:42 PM

Well, I thought that all of us could do a part in it. Like one of us guitar, one vocals, one drums and bass, like all the other threads that are participating.

I have a pretty bad voice I think so I couldn't do it by myself.

PeEpHoLe_10 06-06-2005 09:56 PM

This is my first post in here, because i am just starting to get into NIN. Im going to see Them in Sydney in August with my mate because he really likes them. NIN are meant to be really good live I have heard, is this true?

repcak 06-07-2005 09:05 AM

yes, peephole_10, it is true... they are amazing live :D :D and in exactly one week i am gonna see them live in vienna *hip-hip-hurra* :thumb:

deadinholywood 06-07-2005 09:09 AM

Yep they are amazing live im seeing them in melbourne soon and im pants wettingly excited!

clearvision 06-07-2005 09:09 AM

May be able to rustle up somethign on keyboards though it's tough getting music + recording...

I can play guitar, but I'm sure someone else will take guitar...

But I'm in for this if theres a space :thumb: Kage might do the singing, I think he ahs a voice :-*

repcak 06-07-2005 01:01 PM

i play guitar, but i don't have the possibility to record something.... but i am not sure, i never tried it :)

but wait... a friend plays in a band and they have a record studio! ... so i will be able to record something.
but i think i would not have the time to do it :upset: ... hm... if really NOBODY will take up guitar i will make it....

Kage 06-07-2005 01:42 PM

I would like to do something with, most likely guitar. I don't know any NIN songs on guitar, though. I think it would be cool like Magicaltroll said, to do an acoustic, or a soft song so there's not too many layers of synths and weird distortion sound.

Yeah, I was really wanting to do Hurt.
So Kage, you don't want to? Because I think I remember you saying that you sing.

clearvision 06-07-2005 01:55 PM

Easiest song to do and make parts etc would be the hand that feeds...

Hurt would be very easy acoustic...though attempts could be made to distort it up, add some better drums....

If you record the guitars for hurt, I'm sure someone will sing for you.

Ok, I'll probably do that sometime this week. Because I have to study for exams and all that stuff...

Kage 06-07-2005 02:10 PM

Eh, I can't sing like Trent Reznor. He has such a distinctive voice, I think I'd ruin it.

repcak 06-07-2005 03:41 PM

nobody can sing exactly like trent

Salivation 06-08-2005 08:59 AM

Trent is probably on my list for one of the best vocalists.

I spent $80 on a ticket to go see NIN in August the other day, and since then I've been wondering what the atmosphere at NIN shows is generally like. Anyone care to fill me in?

repcak 06-12-2005 11:19 AM

i will be able to tell you ... exactly 47hours and 32minutes left till concert :thumb:

Kaden 06-12-2005 11:23 AM

I have a question about Hurt. When I listen to it, during the verses it kind of crackles i one ear. Is that just my copy, or does everyone's do that?

dUSK 06-12-2005 11:25 AM
i will be able to tell you ... exactly 47hours and 32minutes left till concert :thumb:
Thanks, I'll look foward to a concert review :p

Have fun.

evilmenhavenosongs 06-12-2005 11:26 AM

I couldn't tell you, I've never noticed it before but who knows.

Does anybody else have problems downloading the pdf to go with With Teeth? I click on the link but it just doesn't download.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-12-2005 11:57 AM

Okay, I've been listening to With Teeth, The Fragile, and TDS. I think that The Fragile is by far their best work. The two disc album set is just a wonderful album. I can't think of one song I dislike. Plus, it's very experimental and each song varies. You have your bad@ss songs like No, You Don't and Starfvckers, you have your beautiful melodic songs like La Mer, and experimental songs like Into The Void.

Man, I just love this album.

you'll get my review. i will post how it was on wednesday morning

@In Chains 36: yeah, another NIN-fan born

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-12-2005 12:14 PM

Nah, I've always been a casual fan. But I'd never listened to all of the albums in depth. I don't like Pretty Hate Machine nor do I like With Teeth all that much.

The Fragile is pure brilliance, though. TDS is pretty awesome too.

I wasn't too keen on The Fragile, to be honest...it tended to lag (as just about all double-albums do, even the almost-perfect Stankonia dragged in some parts)

My personal favorite is Pretty Hate Machine, but I'm probably alone there.

evilmenhavenosongs 06-12-2005 12:22 PM

Everytime I listen to TDS, which I often do. I hear a song or two like I'm only hearing it for the first time, not that it was forgettable, just that it always seems fresh.

I do love With Teeth just as much as any of the other albums though. NIN seem to be one of the only bands that I can enjoy listening to every song released. (Woah, grammar.) Starfuckers is an amazing song.

At the moment, one of my favourites is Something I Can Never have and Terrible Lie.

repcak 06-12-2005 12:26 PM

how great is that:
