Yeah, Jack Johnson is really big in Australia. It gets real boring real quick for me.

Tomahawk 09-10-2004 12:48 AM

Meh, Jack Johnson is ok. "Flake" is a good song. But yeah, "camp-fire songs" is a pretty accurate description.

Tapeworm 09-10-2004 06:10 AM

folsom_god 09-10-2004 11:45 PM

ive been listenin to 3 bands lately all i saw at the boardwalk (sacramento cali)

1)lola ray: some songs are automatic girl, shes a tiger, our brown friends. the album/EP is I Dont Know You

2)pepper: a sweet band that sounds like sublime kinda but not live and songs are boot, stone love, tongues and dirty hot sex all off of the album kona town (their hawaiin n stuff)

3)THAT NEW SUM 41 SONG i hate sum 41 but this new song blows me away its all metal and stuff ya its we're all to blame if you havent heard it yet

The Ashtray Girl 09-11-2004 06:05 AM

I'm getting very into lots of acoustic people like Ryan Adams, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake - all very good stuff.

Tomahawk 09-11-2004 07:25 AM

I'm kinda trying to get into jazz right now. I'm really liking John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme".

Happymeal 09-11-2004 09:52 AM

^I've been wanting to get into jazz these days. I'll check Coltrane out. Jaco Pastorius/Weather Report as well.

Whoo.. I just finished my first album review(The Fall Of Troy's self titled).. took me long enough.:p

You = the best.

Luxor 09-11-2004 11:50 AM

Yeah, Jack Johnson was alright. I only like "Flake" "Cupid" and "Bubbletoes", the rest of the songs are extremely boring. I had never heard of the 2 opening bands; G-Love and Donovon Frankenreader (I think?). I dunno, I don't even care what their names were, they both sucked.

Basically it was the only concert I've ever been too where I was so bored I wanted to go home, but, I went for my girlfriend... And she had a good time, so it's all good. :thumb:

Tapeworm 09-11-2004 11:54 AM

Eh, I used to dig some of G-Love's stuff. My favourite JJ song is Bubbletoes. :thumb:

theicecreamman 09-11-2004 07:34 PM

I like Flake and Horizon has been defeated, but I don't like Bubbletoes.

Everyone should check out They Might Be Giants. Everything off of "Mink Car" is great. Esp. Cyclops Rock, I've Got a Fang, and She Thinks She's Edith Head.

I also really dig that new band Skindred. (I think it's pronounces like "kindred" with an S at the beginning). That song "Nobody" is quite good.

Tangy zizzle 09-11-2004 11:38 PM

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads Has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week

Liberi 09-12-2004 03:55 AM

Lately I've really been digging Soweto String Quartet, especially their work on the Zebra Crossing album.

Little Man being Erased 09-12-2004 06:59 AM

I've been getting heavily back into Ryan Adams' "Love is Hell". It's really bloody awesome stuff. I think I'm actually nearly liking it more than "Gold"... but maybe not.

Tapeworm 09-12-2004 07:15 AM

I think it is much better than "Gold". I love it.

I've been listening constantly to: Missy Higgins, Coheed and Cambria, and Something For Kate.

Well_Respected_Man 09-12-2004 12:28 PM

My favorite bands this week are:

Royal Trux
Apples In Sterow
The Fiery Furnaces

Muse last night was the best thing ever.

EVER.

Tomahawk 09-12-2004 10:43 PM

I was supposed to be going to see Muse a few days ago, but then the universe conspired against me.

Oh well.

The Spill Canvas is a band that has been introduced to me by Jon (bleedthesky) and i must say it is some of the most enjoyable acoustic stuff i have listened to in a long while

Happymeal 09-14-2004 04:45 AM

^I discovered The Spill Canvas on smartpunk and they're ok. Haven't heard much stuff about them though.

I'm random-band browsing on epitonic, and Low and The Swans have caught my attention..
