I realized today I hadn't listened to Sum 41 since I was like eleven, so I'm digging old Sum 41 today.
Also, I'm getting into Mission Of Burma. |
Miles Davis at the Isle of Wight in 1970. The DVD Miles Davis Electric: A Different Kind Blue presents the full 30 minute non-stop performance. It's really amazing.

Good job. |
I checked out Butthole Surfers and wasn't particularly impressed.
I also dug out Devin Davis' album for another spin and realised it maybe be 2005's most overlooked gem. |
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
Yeah, I've heard this too. Didn't really offer anything new or do anything better than anyone else. Pretty mediocre in my opinion. |
Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers
"Thin Line" is a great great song. |

Belladonna was better.
Belladonna was better.
Only during Persistence of Time, which still remains one of my favorite albums ever even though I hardly ever listen to metal nowadays. Other than that, I'd take Bush. |
Band of Horses - Everything All the Time
This too. I only have First Song right now, but it's pretty good. |
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead- Worlds Apart
I still don't think its as good as STAC, but it's certainly not to say that it's not enjoyable. "A Classic Arts Showcase" is magnificent, as is the first real song on the album. Too bad some of the songs, like the title track and "The Rest Will Follow" seem to try and sound too much like Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys. What's the deal, guys? |
one am radio
catchy and simple |
I think here they are more underrated because they're a popular nu-metal band, so lots of people are like.. it's lame! But the drummer is insanely tight and Chino is one of the best vocalists (not lyricists) in heavy music right now.
They're a great band. They're almost singlehandedly responsible for getting me into good metal. Today I dug Pavement, Broken Social Scene and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Right now I'm digging Elvis Costello. 1 Broken Social Scene 41 2 The Smiths 35 3 Matisyahu 34 4 Ryan Adams 28 4 Johnny Cash 28 6 Okkervil River 18 7 New Order 15 7 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 15 9 Feist 13 10 The Dresden Dolls 12 |
1 Liars 36
2 Clogs 24 3 Aphex Twin 21 4 Various Production 20 5 The Fiery Furnaces 15 6 Destroyer 13 7 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 12 8 Isolée 10 9 Supersilent 7 9 Fennesz 7 I can never predict my lists - this one doesn't feel representative of my week at all. |

Mineral
awesome band i have been getting into pedro the lion recently. i think the singer from the stills sounds very similar to the singer from this band. does anyone here listen to Anathema? they are such an underrated band that i have been getting back into recently |
"A Classic Arts Showcase" by Trail of Dead is definitely the best song off of Worlds Apart. The lyrics are kinda dumb, but the music and singing is too great to pass up. It has those sparse, distorted notes for a melody that made their songs "Another Morning Stoner" and "Source Tags and Codes" stick out for me, so it's no wonder I like it.
You know what I'm talking about? That kind of guitar melody? I guess the best example would be "Answering Machine" by The Replacements. |
I bought Source Tags And Codes on disc yesterday because I'm a nice guy.
I dig the make up as of right now. |
good album
good album
Do you mean the metal band? Because I've heard a few songs and I wasn't all that impressed. |
I was listening to the new Neko Case album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood this morning. Pretty nice and all that. I haven't been inside a music store for two weeks and quite frankly, I'm a bit perturbed by that fact.

i hear their earlier albums are doom metal or something. their more recent albums however are definitely not metal. |
Hum, QotSA, Daft Punk.

Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever You Am I - #4 Record The latter two albums are ones that I've recently rediscovered. Both very good albums. You Am I, for the uninformed, are an Aussie rock band that started in the early 90's. Very enjoyable. |
Little Man, I've probably said this before, but I think you and I have very similar tastes in music.
Today I'm digging old U2 and Pixies - Surfer Rosa. |
Trying to get my friend into GBV...
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand Man Man - Six Demon Bag Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 |
Little Man, I've probably said this before, but I think you and I have very similar tastes in music.

L - Holy Letters
Really bizzare japanese noise/folk. Hard to explain, probably one of the best records of the '90s though. |
Who's that by again?
Say shit all you want but "Only Wanna Be With You" is a catchy fucking song. I don't even care.

This is awesome. Oh man. I've never really heard anything like this.
What is it? |
The only thing I can remember about "Only Wanna Be With You" is the chorus which really isn't much of an achievement. Onlywennabewidoooo.
Listening to GZA right now. |
Jay Dee's a hip-hop producer that died of kidney failure right around the time this album was finished; he did it from his hospital bed. It's a big collection of soul/R&B stuff that he sampled/looped/messed around with. So far it's my second-favorite of 2006.
Nonononono, I know who Jay Dee is; he did a bunch of stuff with A Tribe Called Quest. I meant what'd you mean when you said it was like nothing you've ever heard before. So I'm guessing it's like Entroducing? |
