Um, duh. :p Right now, I've decided I want the fretboard to be either macassar ebony or cocobolo. If I get macassar ebony, I'm gonna look into getting a flamed koa top, and if I go cocobolo, I'm gonna get some nice flame maple.
Maple top+spanish cedar back? :chug:
Omg, don't. I'll cut off my testicles and send them back to you. <_<

It's just 20 cents. :p
Why would you do that when postage is 19 cents more? You'd suffer a loss.

That's bad business practice.

House is on in ten minutes! Who's excited?
I'm taping it because my aunt is here and she and my mom are in the TV room.

So don't spoil it for me.

The Brad 11-14-2006 09:04 PM

I'll work one into mine when I make it. ;)

BenJammin 11-14-2006 09:06 PM
Ben:...I guess it depends on the quality of pictures. You might get more than just twenty cents :naughty:
Seriously look into it, I know Roscoe uses Spanish Cedar, my memory is bad on anybody else that does, but I really dug the tone of a Maple on maple necked Roscoe with a flame maple top and a spanish cedar back, my favorite tone out of any bass.

I know a few other "big names" have used it too, but can't draw up who.

BenJammin 11-14-2006 09:17 PM

Yeah. It's really between ash and cedar. I love the grain of swamp ash.

FunkMetalBass 11-14-2006 09:18 PM

So, I'm really deeply thinking about going to luthiery school, but I'm kind of scared. I'm afraid that I might decide that luthiery isn't for me, but I'll be $10,000+ in the hole because of the school.

Parents said they'd pay for it if I went to a community college afterward (I think I'll be paying for that), but that if, after 5 years after luthiery school I didn't have a job in the music field or as a luthier, I'd owe them the money back for the school plus interest.

Psh, Northern Ash sounds so much better...

And weighs a billion pounds...

Eh, it's all on the individual board anyways.

Weight isn't an issue, since I play almost exclusively sitting down, and if I'm gonna be standing up (i.e. playing with people), I have my Ibanez.

It's gonna be a brutal year waiting to get the money together for this custom and then finally pulling the trigger on it and having to wait for it to be built.

BenJammin 11-14-2006 10:02 PM

You've all gone and left me here alone. :upset:

Just me and my James Joyce essay.
