Does anyone have any Die Hoffnung on soulseek? If so that would rule. Message: I Was On A Mountian
Awesome. I'm looking forward to it.
Damien: You know it. They're really good live, too. Their guitarist (not the singer guitarist, just the guitarist) has like 20 pedals on stage. -Gav
I like them, but they really arent that good live. |
I thought they sounded great...maybe they cleaned up their set.
-Gav |
The videos I saw of Minus the Bear look pretty good.
I'd love to see them live assisted with something else. |
What did you guys listen to before emo? Before I listened to emo I primarily listened to death metal/grindcore. Pretty crazy transition from Nile to The Red Scare.
haha that's sorta like what it was like for me but with thrash metal slayer -> angel hair |
Before emo, I was all about grind. All grind, all the time. I still like grind alot, but I listen to emo more than anything nowadays.
|
Before the stuff i listen to now, i was mostly into pop-punk. Nothing too poppy though. I cant hahnk thursday for getting me into emo from the thank yous in Waiting.
|
Before I got into emo I was one of those deuche bags that thought anything that wasnt punk sucked. Now I listen to way more stuff :thumb:
|
I did the whole pop-punk thing like blink.. yet I hated Green day.. into Taking Back Sunday.
But.. wierd thing was, as I was getting into TBS I was also getting into Indian Summer and Saetia. Venus and Bacchus and Your Train is leaving are still my favorites.. Oh yeah, I also liked rap and techno.. yet I still hate Green Day. |
i used to into nu-metal, then pop punk, then post-hardcore, then emo... Saetia is the first emo band that i've ever listened to... I still love them... ^^
|
Saetia seems like a popular first emo band.
|
They really are. I still love them, in fact.
WE NEED THIS WE NEED THIS WE NEED THIS Ash says, "Saetia isn't emo; they just took hardcore and got really artsy." I always say they're emo. I disagree with that definition of Saetia. -Gav |
Saetia is an emotional hardcore band. Saetia is a hardcore band. Saetia is a punk band. It goes on, and is all essentially the same thing. All these bands we see in the scene today took hardcore and got really artsy. That can be applied to all recent bands, so yeah...Saetia pwn.

Oh yeah, I forgot about nu-metal. I was kinda into Limp Bizkit..kinda..and Kid Rock.. with the bawitdabadabangdabangdiggydiggy diggysaidtheboogieupjumpthaboogie |

Is anyone else here into The Gloria Record?
|
haha. I listened to a bunch of old punk that my cousin got me into. Then he started getting into hardcore and I followed. We split paths though when he bought Saetia's "A Retrospective" around when it first came out. He didn't really like it and I ended up with it. At first, I didn't really like it... probably because it wasn't anything like The Misfits or Minor Threat, so I didn't like Saetia for a while. Then I got into bands like Refused and Thursday and then I got bored and put Saetia back in and it was amazing. My cousin still perfers his old punk... besides now he's getting into country and nu-metal.
I'm sorry... but I also think that grind is one of the most talentless genres around. :/ Sure, it's fun to listen to at times because some songs are just badass or funny. There isn't really much talent put into it though. I'm sure anyone could make a grind album. EDIT - I ended up getting into metalcore and indie after emo, which seems a little weird. I hated metalcore for the longest time though, because I thought every metalcore band sounded like Atreyu or It Dies Today... then I found Converge. :) |

I disagree with that definition of Saetia. -Gav
In a certain sense he is right but that is, like Neeshee said, true for a lot to most if not all emo bands. But essentially they are a hardcore band which means they are a punk band. Saetia = emo = hardcore = punk = rock & roll. |

Saetia's newer stuff, like their last 7" before they broke up, is really hardcore and you can tell. The older stuff, like Venus and Bacchus, is emo though. I think that they started out as a emo band then grew more into a hardcore outfit as time when by. |
This thread has been dead lately. :(

This whole forum is really dead lately. There used to be pages of discussion every night, now the hardcore thread gets maybe one page a day.
|
It's because everyone's trying to be tough guy and be all, "You guys are total fags. I'm leaving."

Pretty cool band. Comparable to the whole Mineral thing. |
I like The Gloria Record.
Is it pronounced record, like the round disk that spins and emits sound, or record like "you record an album"? -Gav |
The second way sounds better, but I don't know, lol.
|
Record as in vinyl
|
It sounds better like "I'm recording an album" but whatever.
Thanks, Chris. :thumb: -Gav |
ew no it doesn't, that's so awkward.
The Gloria Record like I just bought a record |
I know...I don't like it as much anymore. :(
They still rule. Dude, what's your avatar, Chris? -Gav |
Doomriders- Black Thunder
Converge side project, best band in hardcore. It's all I've been listening to lately. |
