Some old Trail of Dead stuff from Madonna and their S/T. "A Perfect Teenhood" (or is it "Lonely?" I forget!) is a really good song.

Also, HORSE the band :)

ATM 02-24-2006 12:40 AM

Their keyboard player looks like Napolean Dynamite.
Radiohead - Towering Above the Rest

Really, really good. It's amazing that these are only b-sides.
What the heck is this and where the hell can I get my hands on it?

I just picked up At Folsom Prison and At San Quentin (the re-released versions) so I'm digging Folsom at the moment. Go Johnny Cash.

Zmev 02-24-2006 01:58 AM

Pulse Ultra - Headspace

Its alright, interesting to hear stephen richard's voice before he went to taproot.

Little Man being Erased 02-24-2006 04:04 AM

Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska

I just got this today as well. I don't like much of The Boss' stuff that sounds like "Born in the USA," but this is just plain awesome.

Mr Observations 02-24-2006 08:09 AM

The Fall
Mission of Burma
Swans
Tindersticks
Squirrel Bait

That's my week.

Little Man being Erased 02-24-2006 08:25 AM

Yeah, I kinda researched a little bit and found out that it is a massive huge thing that i can't possibly dowlonad on a modem connection. This makes me sad. Being the Radiohead fanboy that I am.

I believe that warrants a :(

br3ad_man 02-24-2006 04:42 PM

The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls

This is really an amazing album.

Bartender 02-24-2006 04:42 PM

EDIT: ^It's alright.

I've been re-listening to Solomon Burke, since the episode of House I had last night finished with one of his best songs playing.

Also been listening to Coliseum - loud and fast and pointless, so that's all very excellent - and little bits (various songs) from what Blackalicious stuff I have (A2G EP, Blazing Arrow and The Craft).

Kyle 02-24-2006 05:39 PM

De La Soul and Wolf Parade for most of today.

Bukowski 02-24-2006 06:04 PM

Minor Threat and Streetlight Manifesto

Glitterati 02-24-2006 06:08 PM

The mention of the Beastie Boys in alt/indie dance songs thread prompted to put on Licensed To Ill.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-24-2006 06:16 PM

AFX - Chosen Lords [yay, it leaked.]
Beep Beep - Business Casual
Mum - Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today Is OK

Daniel! 02-24-2006 06:18 PM
The mention of the Beastie Boys in alt/indie dance songs thread prompted to put on Licensed To Ill.
I listened to that and Check Your Head. Good stuff.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-24-2006 06:49 PM

The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics
I like it.

myiaa 02-24-2006 08:30 PM

Final Fantasty (band not computer game) - Has A Good Home
Wolf Parade - I can;t remember the album but it's good
The Dead Science - Submariner
and some K'Maro who is a French poppy rapper

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-24-2006 08:30 PM

Someone recommended Your Blues to me the other day. I might check it out. But I won't expect anything too good.

Happymeal 02-24-2006 09:31 PM

Sex Positions
Give Up the Ghost

And later I'm gonna listen to Calla's Scavengers before I sleep to end a tiring and somewhat depressing day.

YDload 02-24-2006 10:29 PM

here is another bassline i will teach you how to play since i just figured it out :):(

The bass solo/ditty in HORSE the Band's song "Purple" :

D--0h5-0h7-0h8-0h7-0h10-0h8-0h7-

i'm not really sure if those are hammers-on or pulloffs but just keep that open D ringing or alternate in a pedal tone and it will be fairly accurate!

Interstate 02-25-2006 06:08 AM

On my 5 hour coach journey up to Liverpool I listened to a few albums:

Joy Division - Closer
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Take It From The Man! (I need more of this band)
Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People
Sigur Rós - ()
The Violent Femmes - S/T

Plus a mixture of other stuff.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-25-2006 06:11 AM

The Jolly Rogers - The Jolly Rogers Demo
Boris - Pink

Bartender 02-25-2006 06:13 AM

Pink is proving impossible to find for me. I've only seen it on eBay, and I stopped trying to get it once it went above £20.

Stupid band.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-25-2006 06:44 AM

That's a shame, since it's a great album.
Probably the best album I've heard this year so far.
And Boris have taken the place of favourite Japanese band.

Bobby D's Greatest hits

JonM 02-25-2006 01:20 PM

I'm digging lots of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (pre-Pearl Jam, of course), because Qawwali is the most awe-inspiring musical form in human history.

I was uninformed about their European tour dates one week too long. I pray there are still tickets left when I'm going to get 'em tomorrow.

I wish their website would just update the dates dammit!

asymm 02-25-2006 01:49 PM

The Flaming Lips
Cap'n Jazz
Belle and Sebastian

br3ad_man 02-25-2006 03:22 PM
Radiohead - "Killer Cars"

if this song was on The Bends instead of one of the crappier tracks, it would be amazing.
Instead of "Sulk" probably. It's one of their best songs.

Sleeper 02-25-2006 03:35 PM

Sonic Youth
Job for a Cowboy
Nine Inch Nails
Tool

pixiesfanyo 02-25-2006 03:59 PM

what happen to not just posting obscure band names and acutally saying something?

Zappa 02-25-2006 04:05 PM

I haven't posted since I gave myself a new avatar yesterday. What a wild thing.

I have been digging a lot of (the same three) dub (albums) this week, hence the Lee "Scratch" Perry avatar. Also on the menu has been Sergei Rachmaninoff's Vespers, Op. 37, which I've pimped about a thousand times in this thread, and you STILL haven't downloaded it from me. Also did a double-shot of X the other day, listening to both Los Angeles and Wild Gift one after the other. I like them more and more every time I listen.

Daniel! 02-25-2006 04:09 PM

Morphine - Cure For Pain
The Slackers - Redlight
The Slackers - The Question

The Slackers are such an incredible band. I need to get their new album.

Zmev 02-25-2006 04:31 PM

Elf Power - A Dream in Sound

This album used to bore me, its quite good, but hopefully doesnt have the one time appeal Of Montreal seem to have.

Glitterati 02-25-2006 04:35 PM

I'm listening to Refused today.

What an amazing band.

Daniel! 02-25-2006 04:41 PM

Vic Ruggiero - Alive at the Lady Bug House

The Slackers singer/keyboard player's solo album. Just him and his acoustic guitar. No ska tracks at all. It's great music but the best part is by far his voice.

pixiesfanyo 02-25-2006 06:04 PM

J Dilla - Donuts.
Pixies - Surfer Rosa

Go listen to J Dilla if you like Madlib's production.
