^ Not a chance. With Tool, Cryptopsy, Opeth and Nile all releasing albums, I doubt A7X will take the top prize.

Dammit. Foiled by a page change. This is to the A7X supporters.
Don't forget Heathen and maybe Dark Angel.

Moses 05-30-2005 05:42 PM

Have you heard it? I was NEVER a fan until I heard The Beast and the Harlot. I just listened to all the songs and I'm iffy about saying this but, I think it's better than Lateralus.

Arucard 05-30-2005 05:44 PM

Dude, thats not hard. Laturalus is a really pointless album.

Moses 05-30-2005 05:44 PM
Hey, look at us everyone. We pointlessly changed time signatures again. How original are we.
That's very incorrect about Tool, they rarely just switch time sigs. Usually they just start in an odd one and flow into a regular one. You're thinking of Dream Theater. I love Dream Theater just as much as I love Tool.

ATM 05-30-2005 05:45 PM

When is Opeth's album due?

I'm waiting for the new Radiohead!

Arucard 05-30-2005 05:47 PM

I own Lateralus, and it has little/no appeal to me anymore mainly because :

I stopped listening to music just because it was 'complicated.'

Shcism and Lateralis both have no groving value atall, they are just not pleasent on my ears.

Dancin' Man 05-30-2005 05:47 PM

RCA - I hate Dark Angel

Joe - If this were 9 months ago, we would not be on speaking terms. Sends me tracks, I will listen. I have Signs of the Fallen and thought it was decent but by the end you're ready for it to be over.

Arucard 05-30-2005 05:48 PM

Dont you mean Waking The Fallen? Signs For the Fallen is Suidakra :/

RCA 05-30-2005 05:50 PM

I can imagine what Opeth's new one will sound like.

That album wasn't very good. This new one blows almost everything out of the water. It sounds NOTHING like the other albums.

Dancin' Man 05-30-2005 05:54 PM
Dont you mean Waking The Fallen? Signs For the Fallen is Suidakra :/
I knew that. Also - Signs for the Fallen is better than Waking the Fallen.

RCA - I just hate cheese and think Dark Angel are the most annoying band ever, even more so than Manowar.

Dark Angel are neither cheesy nor annoying. Somebody hasn't listened to Time Does Not Heal.

Who's the ninja now, RCA? :)

Anyways, while Opeth are no longer considered as innovative or special as I felt they were when I first got into them, they are still a very capable and high-quality band that has opened my mind to a great deal of heavy music I once dismissed as totally talentless noise. You'll never catch me trying to say "Opeth R leik teh most exTREME!!1!! TALENTD BAND EVER!" but will I say that they are totally badass and deserve most of the massive worship they get? Fuck yes.

Just got my black belt! :p

I really don't care for Opeth, but I like the song Dirge For November.

ATM 05-30-2005 06:21 PM

Well, I just joined a Radiohead forum. I guess other fanboys like me exsist :)

It's a good community, though, from what I can tell. And I haven't seen any idiots yet, which MX is definantly plauged with.

Well, as far as vocal versatility is concerned, I wish there were more Mikael Akerfeldts out there. So much decent screaming gives way to such ****ty singing. And this is not a fanboy speaking either. His voice is one the few genuinely skilled, pleasant voices I feel exists in a heavy music spectrum.

RCA 05-30-2005 06:38 PM

Blitz from Overkill is another GREAT metal vocalist too. He can do it all; clean, high-pitched screams, growls, you name it. He's been doing it for 25 years too, which is a wonder in itself as well.

Gotta go out to eat, later everyone.

Dancin' Man 05-30-2005 07:27 PM

REFL is a bastardization of ROFL. Not sure where it originanated but someone said MX once. I think that's a lie though.

Everybody must pick up City of Evil by Avenged Sevenfold. It's going to be Album of the Year in my book. Here's a song to download:

The Wicked End:

That's a pretty good song for the most part. It doesn't seem to be called The Wicked End, though.

CemetaryGates9 05-30-2005 07:33 PM

THought so. Much like pwned, then, i presume.
