in my defence... Look over there!
/runs

no but really - the long song theory applies. i listen to half an hour of dream theater, which is like 2 songs, and 20 mins of something else which is 4 songs. im still listening to more DT but it doesnt. or maybe my mp3 is a liar. 1 of the 2.

Yeah at first he didn't seem all that impressive and i was wondering wether they'd just skip the bass solo, but then he actually did and i was like Woah, it wasn't entirely the same as the one myung plays but it was pretty damn close.

Lionheart1827 08-04-2006 02:32 AM

Thanks for the link, but STUPID YOUTUBE HAS TO BE DOWN NOW AND I CANT WATCH IT!!!

Now I really want to see it.:thumb:

eug008 08-04-2006 02:45 AM

Yeh, it is pretty cool with the glockenspiels and shit, search google video?

Inkstar 08-04-2006 06:07 AM

Wow, that percussion ensemble was awesome! I did something similiar to that once, except with more toms/bongos/timables etc and less mallet percussion. Was awesome though.

eug008 08-05-2006 12:07 AM

Heres some more DSOTM material for you all

haven't seen this posted in here yet, but it looks like an hour of music from Score is being streamed at mp3.com:

Jev 08-05-2006 12:45 PM

Damn, I'd listen but I'd rather wait until the release.

Shattered_Future 08-05-2006 01:21 PM

That percussion thing was quite awesome. No guitarist though!?

Jev 08-05-2006 01:27 PM

I'd imagine the only reason there was a bassist was because the glocks didn't have enough range to hit those notes...

Or maybe because I've heard bass is considered a percussion instrument?

Six Foot Revolver 08-05-2006 04:24 PM
Or maybe because I've heard bass is considered a percussion instrument?
It is when slapped but not when usually played.

_Wrathchild_ 08-05-2006 04:45 PM

That percussion ensemble thing was awesome.

If they didn't have a bassist, it would sound empty and it would be kind of hard to play that bass solo on a glock :p

btw
a while back, i hated images and words for its cheesiness. some guy said to me: "its an aqquired taste. you'll learn to like it." it may have been flower dance. whoever ever it was, turned out to be right. ive been addictively listening to it. take the time is a cert fave. :)

Yeah I&W is my favorite DT album and Take the Time is one of my faves. That keyboard solo is so perfect.:thumb:

Liquid Fantasy 08-05-2006 07:46 PM

I just bought When Dream and Day Unite and its a good album but i just can't get used to Dominici's voice , though he doesn't sing bad at all.

Awsome, it sounds great

Atica 08-05-2006 09:59 PM

Yeh, it's kind of weird to listen to Dominic singing after you listen James.

Inkstar 08-05-2006 11:21 PM

I listened to some of the stream, I don't want to completely spoil it, but DAMN it sounds awesome. LaBrie's singing fantastic.

How is it cheesy? I own the album and I'm just curious how you find it cheesy. I like it, but not my favourite, that's reserved for Scenes From A Memory.

No love for Awake?!!? man i can't understand it being cheesy just like you said but I&W and Awake are deff my favorite. I see SFAM having too many ballad type songs

Jev 08-07-2006 03:55 PM

I just pre-ordered Score

eug008 08-07-2006 05:13 PM

Nice, I think I'll just pick it up when it hits the shelves

too many ballad songs?

where's the problem again?

Chu 08-07-2006 10:13 PM

I don't think there's a problem with that, but it doesn't have any of the beautiful riffs present on Awake, or even Images and Words, thus it is not as good.
