A lot of people think their faggo's but I like their style.

Well, everything I've read about them says they're [I]psychedelic black metal[/I], so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Nachtmystium are iffy, but they have their moments.

I don't see how there is anything psychedelic about Nachtmystium at all

There again, I like Summoning and Xasthur, so I'm definitely not on the same frequency as most black metal fans here.

I find that Xasthur are good in small doses, because after a while it can get a bit repetitive.

I feel that way about Graveland.

I can listen to Xasthur for longer periods of time. It gives me a kind of out-of-body feeling, a lot like elite old school albums by Blut aus Nord.

And speaking of which, what are the best black metal bands to listen to for that, you know, strange narcotic death feeling? My list

Elysian Blaze for me. Though there's elements of Funeral Doom in there as well.

Maybe stuff like Rift and Pestililential Shadows if I'm in the right mood, in addition to some stuff on your list.

Try some Nortt. A mixture of Funeral Doom and black metal.

I would place money on him already being aware of Nortt, as one of the best things Xasthur has done is a split with Nortt.
