The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth
David Bowie - Low |
I'm listening to The Drones now that I found out a girl from my friend's youth group likes them, which is totally unexpected. I convinced her to go see them too.
|
Yeah, I might be able to organise myself so that I can see them when they play at the Zoo at the end of March. That would be cool.
|
That would be sweet. I think that most cool Aussie Mxers are Brisbane people.
|
The Mars Volta - 04-03-03 (good bootleg)
Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye Binary Star - Masters of the Universe I suggest if you like rap you go download Binary Star's album. It is superb. http://www.subterraneousrecords.com/motu.html (dl it there) |
hmm... most of what i've listened to lately:
Elf Fatima, Kill All W Pit Er Pat, Shakey |
Gospel - The Moon Is a Dead World
I've had this for a couple of months, I think, but this is only the third time I've listened to it. I like it. Not sure why. Just something very.. 'interesting' about it, or something. |

Well that could be it, too.
|
1 Eagles of Death Metal 10
2 The Dresden Dolls 7 3 Pinback 6 4 Mudhoney 5 5 The Streets 1 5 The Egyptian Lover 1 5 The Decemberists 1 5 The Helio Sequence 1 I need to use Winamp more. |
Minus the Bear- Menos El Oso
Every time I listen to this album, I find a new favorite song. This time, it's the last song, "This Ain't A Surfin' Movie." There's a really great part where it gets quiet, and then six notes ring out from all the instruments at once. Not a novel invention to create interesting musical moments, but it still works. |
Revolver, i havet listened to it in ages but now i cant stop
|
Mostly been digging random songs as opposed to albums recently. A lot of stuff I haven't listened to since school too.
picks of the week: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - (Are You) the One That I've Been Waiting For It's been a few months since i've listened to any Cave. The lyrics in this song still blow me away. Husker Du - Celebrated Summer This song makes me happy. The chorus melody reminds me a lot of REM but more intense and awesome. Kaizer's Orchestra - Maestro I'll be damned if this isn't one of the coolest songs ever. Planes Mistaken For Stars - Copper and Stars I hadn't listened to these guys in a long time. Kinda crappy but still kicks ***. Silver Jews - People The bassline makes me so happy. Probably their best song. I've also been digging Steve Albini's projects, Minutemen, Fischerspooner and Soul Asylum. |
I think that most cool Aussie Mxers are Brisbane people.
Ain't that the truth. I been digging Modest Mouse - Good News... a bit. |
Ain't that the truth.
I been digging Modest Mouse - Good News... a bit.
Stop yourself ASAP. In fact, break the album and break whatever you own from that band. |
That's the only thing I have by them. It's pretty average really. I won't be getting anything else by them anytime soon.
|

Good, but you should still break it. It's fun. Just go outside chuck it up in the air and watch it smash on the pavement or street. You'll feel liberated. |
I know I just posted my frightfully busy last.fm, but that was from last week and I think this week's list better reflects my taste anyway:
1. Youthful Jew Brigade 183 2. Speak N Spell Connected To Casio Keyboard 142 3. Queertards 129 4. Unholy Butt Welders 109 5. Ghost Piss 98 6. Dolphin Mating Calls 65 7. Burning Murray's Hair 42 8. Nig Nog 22 9. Tapwater Terry 11 10. Ed 4 Not much Ed this week :( |
Oh, YD. @ Unholy Butt Welders
Good, but you should still break it. It's fun. Just go outside chuck it up in the air and watch it smash on the pavement or street. You'll feel liberated.
There are CDs in my collection that are far more deserving of an early grave than the MM. |

I'll see what I can manage.
Thanks for the help NPC. |

It was a very insense show due to the queerness of their epic and queer sound. Their album This is Queer was the exact tie in with this painting: http://www.artnet.com/Magazine/features/polsky/Images/polsky1-25-2.jpg (just copy and paste it) It just spoke volumes without hinting at it's true meaning. I didn't know what to think but I was certianly thinking something. Which is a start, I think. See there I go again. So why don't we go ahead and give them a listen, with their post hardhore post rock post goth country classic "This is Queer" here's the Queertards.
I'll see what I can manage. Thanks for the help NPC.
Good, for even more fun...throw them off your roof. |
4 Elbow 5
I'm going to see them open up for dEUS next Monday. I really like Cast Of Thousands, but I'm not sure if their new album is diggable. Have you heard it? |
Murder By Death - Who Will Survive, And What Will Be Left of Them?
Man, such solid shit. |
Murder By Death - Who Will Survive, And What Will Be Left of Them?
Man, such solid shit.
Great album |
Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy
I heard this a couple years ago when I was ignorant and close-minded, and barely gave it a chance. Now, upon revisitation, I love it. What a great album.
Yeah, that's truly one of the greats. This afternoon I have dug: Television - Marquee Moon Off Minor - Innominate Lee "Scratch" Perry & The Upsetters - Super Ape Good stuff. The first and last are like masterpieces, and the middle is pretty sweet, upon first listen. |
I have a few CDs I wouldn't mind smashing.
Since last night's downloading spree, in the past day or say I've been digging Johnny Thunders, Lungfish, and Rites Of Spring. |
Prince Paul. I just can't get enough of A Prince Among Thieves. The sheer number of skits and guests (Kool Keith, De La Soul, Chris Rock, etc.) makes it seem almost impossible for it to be cohesive, but he managed to pull it off. As far as concept albums go, this is definitely up there.
