Just finished watching The Untouchables. Great movie.

"Did it sound something like that?!"

That ranks among my Top 10 Kill Lines.
I love that movie. I was so sad when the little guy was killed in the elevator, though.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-18-2006 12:52 AM

The Untouchables is great.

I haven't seen it in a while though :(

Cain 01-18-2006 12:53 AM
I just finished the lion king, that's a tear jearker.
It still kind of makes me cry.

And yeah, the Untouchables is quite good. "Here endeth the lesson."

I'd have to say that "Gettysburg" has the most emotional score I've ever heard. Truly Randy Edelman's finest moment, in a score history fraught with mediocrity. Second place goes to Philip Glass' score for "The Hours."

Apocalyptic Raids 01-18-2006 12:57 AM

Ah, The Lion King. That takes me back.

*reminisces*

Steerpike 01-18-2006 01:03 AM

Though of all film soundtracks, I'd have to say my personal favorite is a tie between The Blues Brothers and O Brother Where Art Thou?

Nostalgia 01-18-2006 01:29 AM

Any of you guys see the move "the crush" it's with that girl from clueless, alecia silverstone. It's like fatal attraction but not "as" creepy.

Steerpike 01-18-2006 01:34 AM

It was on HBO once a couple years back, but I lost interest before the title sequence was over.

Nostalgia 01-18-2006 01:38 AM

Yeah, I turned it off after she tried to kill her friend :(

Haha, ever seen that movie called "the lonely guy" with Steve martin? (that's my last movie question of the night)

Stormrider 01-18-2006 07:41 AM
Ah, The Lion King. That takes me back.
I watched it a lot when i was small.

Though I rather Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that movie ! Watched it so many times.

speaking of Disney type animated movies...

anyone ever see the priest/bishop at the end of the Little Mermaid, when they are getting married, and the priest has a "boner"?!

i just found out that scene existed while watching that VH1 1980's show

Jom 01-18-2006 07:57 AM

The Disney animators are a bit twisted, it seems. There appears to be one or two sex-related "Easter eggs" inside their movies.

Examples:

1. The priest's boner in The Little Mermaid - talk about foreshadowing, hm? Heh, heh.

2. In The Lion King, after the stampede scene, there's a duststorm that serves as a transition - the duststorm swirls to spell "sex" at one point.

And there are others, but I can't think of them this early.

Sleepy 01-18-2006 08:07 AM

Yes, Disney seems to have gotten bored with their movies...although I find it hard to believe whether they do things like that to give the adults chaperoning the kids something to laugh at, or if they just make very frequent mistakes of hiring witty and oft perverse animators.

kurrpt 01-18-2006 08:09 AM

in Aladdin, when the genie is turned into a bee, and they are out on the balcony, you can hear a voice in the background say..

"teenagers, take off your clothes"

Steerpike 01-18-2006 08:10 AM

It's probably a joke for the adults. Ever see their old animated series before they all became movie spin-offs and had a 60-episode rule.

Jom 01-18-2006 08:14 AM

I dug movies like Toy Story because they had jokes that were for everyone, not just kids. I'm down with movies like that. Plus, that movie had a killer soundtrack. I remember when I bought it that it came with this Disney CD called "Buddy Songs" and it had a bunch of Disney friendship songs such as "You've Got a Friend in Me" and a couple from movies like The Fox and the Hound and Oliver and Company.

Steerpike 01-18-2006 08:16 AM
Oliver and Company.
I hated that movie. I don't know if I'm alone on this one...

Yes, you are. I only saw it once or twice, but I loved it.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-18-2006 08:18 AM

I used to love the original Toy Story movies. I had a Buzz Lightyear action figure too

kurrpt 01-18-2006 08:19 AM

i saw oliver when i was real little in the theaters. I liked it then, but not now

I really liked the Incredibles. Thats really the BEST one i think so far

Jom 01-18-2006 08:20 AM

Dude, I love that song where the main dog's going around town. I don't know any of the lyrics to this day other than "Wooooo hooooo WHOOOOO whoooo whoooooo - I'm street smart, [something something] Central Park! Wooooo hooooo WHOOOOOOO whooooo whooooooooo... [repeat a bunch of times]."

EDIT: yeah dude, The Incredibles was badass. I also liked Finding Nemo.

I remember watching that (Nemo) in Spanish class. We convinced the teacher that we just watch the movie in English with Spanish subtitles because we were getting tired of "Nay-mo" after one day of Spanish.

However, you know the part in the doctor's office with the fish that loves bubbles?

Hearing that part in English is funny enough as it is... but in Spanish? It was hysterical.
Also, just curious, have any of you ever heard of Lilitu? They're freaking great...
I've got an album of theirs (The Earth Gods, I think), but I don't listen to it much.

Incredibles is great. For extremely apparent reasons, I almost felt like I had just sat down and played City of Heroes for a while when I walked out of the movie theater. Almost, because my little brother was maniacally laughing half of the movie.

(He thinks he's going to be an evil genius one day, too)

The Incredibles was great. I loved Jason Lee as Syndrome.

"You're that kid from the fan club, Bu... Brody, no Buddy."

Great inside joke.

"You married Elastigirl? ...And got busy!"

kurrpt 01-18-2006 08:32 AM

Jom : you talking about the "why should i worry, why should i care?" song?

i wasnt really a fan of finding Nemo, except that part in the dentist's fish tank

i never played City of Heros

It's a really quirky MMORPG...you basically get to create a superhero and spend your day thwarting evil in a very 1960's comics-esque town. A fun waste of time, IMO.

Although WoW > City of Heroes

Steerpike 01-18-2006 08:40 AM

I wanted to get City of Villains so bad, but it wasn't in the budget.

I actually thought Finding Nemo was surprisingly good.

The Incredibles, on the other hand, I fully expected to be brilliant, and it was.

Aye, so did I, and fortunately enough I could afford it...

...However the school firewalls their internet to outrageous levels. They block every known MMO, as well as Counter-Strike and related online FPSs. I think I'd rather spend my money on CDs and save up for a 5 string now, though.

i can fully understand why it was well-liked, but if i compare to a GREAT like "robin hood", it really doesnt reach that entertainment factor for me.

It might not be "fair", but when they raise the bar that high, its on them to top it
