No, the Dark Tranquillity thing.

Darkness 01-08-2006 07:46 PM

I just wanted some proof!

Geez... You suck.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I honestly would If I knew how to but I can describe it to you guys. In Lamentations, it's the exact same one they use to record (blue one) except I don't have Seymour Duncan pick-ups.

Darkness 01-08-2006 07:49 PM

Ah, nice. Is that the one with birds flying across the fret board?

The Cynic 01-08-2006 07:53 PM
Ah, nice. Is that the one with birds flying across the fret board?
The very one. It is very nice and it better be for $3000!

Darkness 01-08-2006 07:57 PM

I LOVE those birds... it mesmerizes me for some reason... but wow. $3000 is steep man.

More dates just added to the web site!

Shattered_Future 01-08-2006 08:01 PM

I paid $1300 used for my guitar...I couldn't fathom paying that much.

Although I do want one of those triple humbucker Gibson SGs...$3200.

I got Lamentations today, and watched 1 full song (Windowpane) and snippets of others. The band looks nothing like I thought they would...

Mendez's sideways headbanging put a smile on my face though.

I bought is because I knew this would probably be the last guitar I'll buy. Plus I've always wanted one.

Shattered_Future 01-08-2006 08:02 PM

HOLY CRAP OPETH IS PLAYING IN HARTFORD!!!!

My grandma lives 15 minutes away from Hartford...

Darkness 01-08-2006 08:03 PM

Is it 18+?

To Cynic:
Hey, I didn't say it was a bad purchase, just a pricey one. :p

I'm attempting to find that out...

It's at a Webster Theatre though.

Ghost Of Perdition 01-08-2006 08:35 PM
Yeah, The Drapery Falls is a great song. Don't you post on the Pantera Forums?
Negative, any reason for asking?

Forlorn Hope 01-08-2006 08:47 PM

Can anyone recommend me some good Opeth? Preferably some of the heavier stuff. Im sure somebody has already done this but I didn't want to read through this entire thread. I've heard that they have a large variety of sounds and I've been interested in hearing more of their stuff.

Ghost Of Perdition 01-08-2006 08:52 PM

Masters Apprentices is the first heavy song that springs to mind.
I'll let someone else list all the heavier songs...i cba :P

Watch it. Full. It's really worth it.

The best part has got to be the something after Closure which sounds nothing like the album version... yep. That part.

And the documentary on the realization of the album, with Mendez' odd accent. :)

Good thing to, that poor guy was at risk of hearing an average Opeth song.

MrJack 01-08-2006 10:02 PM

I just been getting into Opeth the past few weeks. I have heard Still Life and GR so far and think they are a complete breathe of fresh air. Their melodic parts into furries are just so well done. Probrably doesn't mean much to old fans, but im liking Beneath the Mire alot right now. I hope they come to Cali this year. Have they played any songs off GR live? Since thats what I know, it would be nice to hear.

Darkness 01-08-2006 10:03 PM

Ofcourse they have, it's like, their most popular record.

I saw The Grand Conjuration live before GR was even released.

Det_Nosnip 01-09-2006 12:41 AM
Well, my plans for going fell through. My friend who I was going to go with decided not too, because he's kind of short on money, and his parents talked him out of it.

So....someone make me a bootleg copy! ;)
*glances at your avatar*

I'm listening to that album right now. :)

NP Mellotron Scratch.

That song starts off really weak, although it does get better. It's still probably the second worst on GR, after Hours of Wealth. THAT song starts off kind of nice and then just craps out and goes nowhere for the last 4 minutes.

Shadius 01-09-2006 09:16 AM

I like Hours of Wealth. Possibly the last solo part drags, though.

Usually they play Ghost of Perdition, Baying of the Hounds and The Grand Conjuration live.

Have they played Beneath the Mire or Harlequin at all?

Get Blackwater Park next, btw, MrJack, matey.

Are you joking? The beginning of Beneath the Mire is the best part!

Shadius 01-09-2006 11:05 AM

Those dissonant chords with the middle eastern riff are really cool, and it goes into a nice powerful progression. It has it's strong points, i'd rate it my 4th favourite track on the album behind Ghost of Perdition, Baying of the Hounds and Harlequin Forest.

MidnightRider 01-09-2006 01:52 PM

I've heard a lot of people put down the lyrics in Harlequin Forest, but I don't think they're that bad. I think they fit in with the music really well. Plus, I love how it starts out with..."Into the trees.." It's probably my favorite song on GR. It's great musically.
