They really should do a reissue of that. So I can buy it. :( |

I've looked before with no luck. EDIT: Just found one CD in Canada for $15 Canadian. Fuck that. |
Well that sucks. You could always buy it from amazon for $106.23
|
Yeah exactly.
|
Today I dug some Queens of the Stone Age, Converge, Belle and Sebastian and Broken Social Scene. Also I Heart Hiroshima.

The new Lips is growing on me, but it's still not nearly as good as the 1992-2002 era records. Or as consistant.
The best tracks are Mr. Ambulance Driver, The Sound Of Failure, It Overtakes Me, Haven't Got A Clue and Pompeii Am Gotterdammung (the only really mindblowing song on the album IMO). This record is a grower. With a record like Transmissions or Soft Bulletin, I was blown away from the first second. This record needs time to sink in. The songs on Mystics probably work better live than on record. Just a hunch of mine. |
I consider myself to be a huge Flaming Lips fan, but I'm not sure if I'll buy this one. When's it out?
|
I've been digging Frog Eyes - The Golden River.
I like the dramatic lyrics, and the Tom Waits-ish percussion that randomly goes *ding* every now and again. |
I'm digging Saul Williams again. He's really special. I'm so excited by the prospect of a return to poetry as a primary mode of expression, and it's kind of starting to happen.

Satori - Savor Every Moment
Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain Nice calm trad ska followed by straight up noise rock. It's good shi't/ |

I always expect to have higher numbers than I do, which is because I use other mediums besides my computer's mp3s pretty regularly.
Asymm's radio show thing - "Untitled; 1970" this is pretty fly so far. One of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs, too.
Excellent man, hope you enjoy it! |

My chart for the week.
1 Frank Sinatra 84 2 Dean Martin 79 3 Coliseum 56 4 Sammy Davis, Jr. 52 5 Sleater-Kinney 41 6 Danny Elfman 33 6 Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra 33 8 Lovage 25 9 Faith No More 18 10 Solomon Burke 17 I actually thought I'd listened to more Rat Pack, but otherwise it's about what I expected. I like that all those Coliseum listens only took up about an hour and a half. As for now, I'm listening to the Lovage record again, and liking it more and more each time I do. It's so over the top, in it's own way. Might have to check out Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields, I think?) a bit. |

They're alright I guess. I mean, the Chicks with Bricks EP was amazing, but their follow up album Stab Me One For the Prussians was kind of lackluster. I just wish they didn't have so many filler tracks dealing with the Whiskey Rebellion, but what can you do? |
I dunno man, I really kind of enjoyed Stab Me One For the Prussians. But I guess my favourite release of theirs is the early underground demo that they recorded in the bomb shelter under the drummer's barn. It's called Bats Flying North-West. Keep an eye out for it.

okay i am going to have to call bullshit on that one. everyone knows Marion Coriander doesn't have a bomb shelter under his barn. that's just an urban legend  he actually uses the space for a hyperbaric chamber that he sleeps in to maintain his youthful vigor and the stamina he needs to play songs like "Whatever Melons May Reign on Earth, I Know Honeydew Is Waiting For Me In Heaven." |
okay i am going to have to call bull**** on that one. everyone knows Marion Coriander doesn't have a bomb shelter under his barn. that's just an urban legend
he actually uses the space for a hyperbaric chamber that he sleeps in to maintain his youthful vigor and the stamina he needs to play songs like "Whatever Melons May Reign on Earth, I Know Honeydew Is Waiting For Me In Heaven."
Actually, now that you mention it, that does seem plausible. After all, the guys are pushing 40 these days. And "Whatever Melons May Reign on Earth, I Know Honeydew Is Waiting For Me In Heaven" takes a fair bit of stamina to pull off. My band used to cover that song, but our drummer couldn't handle it, so we had to stop. Now we just play a wicked cover of "The Night the Evil Frost Came and Stole Our Entire Eggplant Crop." |
YdLoad is a my fave.
