This is a cool idea, but I think it needs a little more fleshing out. Any way we can cut away the more immature parts of this user's poll idea (i.e. labeling of Staind as "whiny rock") and expand on it, through advice and/or mod approval? I don't want this closed by any means, just asking if it would be possible to give this kid a bit more direction.

Bartender 11-21-2005 01:39 PM

It is a potentially good thread, and I'd have nothing against running something like it..if it was 2006. I don't see the point of having a Best of 2005 (polls or not) before the year is over.

Agreed.

That, and it's just overall weakly organized to begin with.

Yeah, I just brought that up. That's its biggest flaw at the moment: it's just fundamentally lacking in a clear form and system.

-no official threads
-it'll probably become a flamefest of "meg white can't drum" "she doesn't know what a drumkit is" etc, etc.

Man this forum is very shallow and unsatisfying. I hope you have fun when you antagonize somebody and have a flamewar. A flamewar is not the point of a forum, neither is pointing out that someone is stupid or trying to make them feel inferior. I hope all of you grow up someday and stop trying to convince people in a metal forum to open their minds. If we wanted to do something, why would we listen to some "ninja-pirate" anyways? Just becuase I have a low post-count doesn't mean jack. For the most part, you guys are all assholes so sayonara. I honestly don't care what you call me or say about me once I'm gone because I'm never visiting this site again. All I try and do is give my justification for why I think a certain way, which is not the way you think. Then I get ridiculed, name-called, and flamed for it. Am I right? On this entire site, I have not encountered a single thread that has not had something negative said towards another poster. Instead of ridiculing or name-calling you should inform people. I am moving on back to my home forum where they are not as closed minded to new posters and to people who are not as knowledgeable about rap as you guys supposedly are. They are actually nice and helpful, and totally devoid of flamewars.

Bottom Line: I feel bad for this forum becuase for the most part, the posters with higher counts feel superior to people who are new. That is stupid to have an "internet ego." I try and say what I think, and wham - I get ridiculed. I hope you all can try to find something to do with one less scapegoat to flame. Peace out you guys and good luck in this forum.

You just have to learn to not take anything that anyone says too seriously. Like you said, it's the internet. If someone wants to make fun of you for liking a certain thing, you obviously realize how stupid that is. Those who have common sense on this forum also realize this, you just have to deal with it.

Uhhh, yeah. But try to post something other than "bump" please. I hate that, and I'm sure the other mods do too.

In other words, yes, if you make an actual post. :p

What the hell's the matter with Elton John? If you're trying to say he doesn't belong in R&M, think again, hoss.

Jom 11-22-2005 12:56 AM

Drop down and give CJ twenty!

Blasphemy! Elton John is great. I've always considered him classic rock, for the most part, so I think he's fine in here. Yes, he does have his pop moments, but overall, he's more rock, IMO.

Nostalgia 11-22-2005 01:18 AM

I realize this, and am not questioning the closing of the thread, but rather the standing of Elton in the musical genre spectrum. :p
