BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-07-2004 06:43 PM

The lyrics are kinda stupid

clown_phobia 10-07-2004 07:29 PM

metal was never about the lyrics.
paranoid is good but get Symptom of the Universe cause it has the best of Paranoid (except Electric Funeral) plus all their other greatest songs. (examples: N.I.B., Sabbra Caddabra, Sweet Leaf, etc.)
Yeah , Symptom of the Universe is a high quality compilation.

Goblin Metronome 10-07-2004 07:38 PM

And I prefer Master of Reality to Paranoid myself.

Paranoidd 10-07-2004 07:58 PM

Paranoidd > You.

wanton 10-07-2004 08:27 PM

I prefer their self-titled album, most blues-influenced.

thickasabrick 10-07-2004 08:36 PM

my favourite album was paranoid...in my opinion they got worse with time. kinda lost their blues roots and tried to hard to be the cool metal band. just my opinion though.
I prefer their self-titled album, most blues-influenced.
yep same here

BludgeonySteve 10-07-2004 09:04 PM

Black sabbath is great. They were the first metal band and still one of the best (even though now with the noisey screaming **** they're more hard rock than metal).

jpj 10-07-2004 09:06 PM

i hate today's metal to growling and screaming

Badmoon 10-07-2004 09:06 PM

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-08-2004 12:34 PM

Anyone there?

jpj 10-08-2004 12:37 PM

maybe

lunch998 10-08-2004 12:38 PM

I'm here.
I still don't see whats so special about Stairway to Heaven. Maybe the last 2 minutes are great, but I'd much rather listen to a Led Zeppelin song where you don't have to wait through 6 minutes of buildup to get to the good part.

Paranoidd 10-08-2004 12:45 PM

I agree.

jpj 10-08-2004 12:49 PM

yea stairway is one of the most if not THE most overrated songs of all time. its not even the best zep song let alone the best of all time.

BludgeonySteve 10-08-2004 01:38 PM

The buildup makes the last few minutes better than it would have been. It it just started where the drummers came in it wouldn't be half as good.

And I agree. It's not zeppelin's best song. They have better ones, why are people so obsessed with it?

I just got Mark Knopfler's new album called 'Shangri-La', It=teh secktz :). He's just so talented and he plays with such great skill and technique.

Woodstock 10-08-2004 01:42 PM

Wish I had money.

BludgeonySteve 10-08-2004 02:22 PM

Mark did a song with Jeff Healey on

<------ this album.

It waz teh g0odingness.

It's like the original (by dire straights) exept better :)

lunch998 10-08-2004 03:05 PM

Does anyone know if you use a pick to play the mandolin?

BludgeonySteve 10-08-2004 03:29 PM

I think you can use both. Are you learning how to play mandolin or something?

lunch998 10-08-2004 03:31 PM
I think you can use both. Are you learning how to play mandolin or something?
I'm considering giving it a shot. I think I'd rather finger-pick.

magicbus 10-08-2004 03:36 PM

Mark Knopfler is great. Finger picking and whatnot.
