PS, duck is awesome but only when in pancake rolls, chicken is... okay. But only the white meat. Dark meat is horrid. Best meat is pig. I'm not picky what meaty form it takes.
What the **** happened to Snoop Dogg.

And meat is fanastic.

My favourite is chicken, possibly tied with beef. Followed by bacon. Pork and lamb also honourable mentions, fish isn't bad either.
Fish is the best. If I could afford it, I'd have sushi every night of the week.

It's so darn healthy for you too. The omega-3 in fish is great for your joints.

gaslight 12-28-2009 10:50 AM

Yeah, Omega 3 is great for the brain too. The taste of fish just isn't my favourite of the bunch but I do enjoy it, I try to eat it like, once a week.

whitesquares 12-28-2009 01:57 PM

I used to love sushi and salmon. SO GOOD. Try a fillet of salmon with honey BBQ sauce. Mmmmm.

Chicken was great, too. I'd kill for a chicken patty sandwich right now.

it used to be healthy. now there is so much mercury in the water that you shouldn't eat fish more than a couple times a week at the most.

Nah, just wash it down with a refreshing glass of EDTA :p

That's why freshwater fish and wild-caught fish are where it's at.

Besides, with all of the intravenous drug use, unprotected sex, and alcohol abuse in my current life, mercury poisoning from fish consumption is probably the least of my worries.

there are still levels of mercury in freshwater and in the wild ... and it bioaccumulates in the fish so the levels remain the same through their whole life.

and that's fair about not being real worried about it. i was more playing devils advocate about it being "super healthy." i love seafood, myself.

Jev 12-28-2009 03:45 PM

yo, what do you all think about Charvel basses?

:amaze: 12-28-2009 03:48 PM

never heard of them ... just did a quick google search and they look pretty slick.

Jev 12-28-2009 03:51 PM

:amaze: 12-28-2009 03:54 PM

good deal. i got an olp for free ... did some upgrades and it's now my main axe.

BenJammin 12-28-2009 04:08 PM

Duck is soooo good.

:amaze: 12-28-2009 04:09 PM

i don't think i've ever actually had duck meat. i like most dead animals, though, so i imagine it'd be pretty good.

Oooh. Charvels are nice basses.

Pics or lies.

How'd you get it for free?
Duck is soooo good.
AGREED

FunkMetalBass 12-28-2009 04:49 PM

Yay, my supplies will be here to start brewing my next beer [ale] later this week. I'm going to go with an Irish stout this time around, and a hefeweisen when the stout is done fermenting.

I'll try and get some pics when I get back to uni and get to steal someone's camera but its cream in colour and it looks sexy.

Got it from my gf's dad, he was telling me he got it back in the 80's, only played it for a week and it's spent the rest of its life in an attic. He said it was a 3/4 length but I think he's managed to somehow confuse a 34" scale or something because it ain't a 3/4 length. Anyway I played it and it needs some new strings and a tweaking of the truss rod because it clicks when I move the neck but other than that its in perfect condition.

fatbandit 12-28-2009 06:08 PM

buckethead songs need more singing

fatbandit 12-28-2009 06:32 PM

FunkMetalBass 12-29-2009 09:17 AM

I'm ordering T-shirts for the band this weekend. 40 shirts (20 black, 20 white) for $165. Pretty good deal, methinks.

gaslight 12-29-2009 10:16 AM

That would be an amazing deal in my currency.

Must be mate's rates right? Or single colour image or something.

What does a band shirt sell for around your way?

Just a local guy that does it in his spare time with his wife. Single color (20 white shirts w/ black logo, 20 black shirts w/ white logo).

Band shirts sell for ridiculous prices depending on the band. National bands - Tool, Incubus, Metallica - will sell shirts for $45 at concerts. Most local bands, though, keep it between $8 and $10.

We're going to sell ours for $8 because we're aren't about the money. We've almost completely stopped working with "promoters" (aka, booking agents that print tickets and charge way too much) for this same reason.

gaslight 12-29-2009 10:49 AM

It certainly is liberating not to have to turn a profit.

If I got a shirt for $4 here I'd sell it for $10. Nice and even, noone has to break a note.

It's true, but if we do end up working with promoters and are forced to sell tickets for $8 just to break even, people will appreciate the $8 shirt cost. Not only that, it's still nearly 100% profit on every shirt.

gaslight 12-29-2009 10:58 AM

People here are so reluctant to part with money for a ticket. They think anything over $10 for four bands is an insult to their families honour.

It is really nice to be able to just do original bands for the love of it. You have to have that enjoyment in just the act of doing it.

Even when I have CDs to sell, I love the feeling you get just giving it to someone who you bump into sometime. Seeing them happy and thankful, it's really fulfilling, not too sound gay or anything :p. I mean, what am I going to do with $5 anyway? But having a great positive interaction with someone, hell of a lot harder to come by than a fiver.

I agree with them. $10 is more than I would pay to see local music. Local music sucks so hard these days as-is.

Tis true, but unfortunately, every band needs money to fund other publicity, gas for gigs (especially those 2-hour drives), and everything else in between. I don't plan on ever gaining any personal profit from it outside of potential gear repairs from actively playing.

Spaceman Spiff 12-29-2009 11:19 AM

You need to find venues that don't charge you to play.

There are a couple places I know of around here like that that will let you charge whatever you want at the door and you keep it all and they keep everything made at the bar.

My band pretty much does the Fugazi thing where we don't charge more than $5 for a show. The last show we played, rather than having people pay, we just gave out about 40 tickets. We could've made some decent money, but there are more important things.

gaslight 12-29-2009 11:26 AM

There's no venues in this town where you can play for free unless it's open mic night.

The very least you have to do is cover the sound guy. Unless you can find a venue without one, and we do have those but they aren't grand.

whitesquares 12-29-2009 11:29 AM

^ I love your attitude.

I wish more people looked at music that way.

I don't know about you guys, but the music scene here is completely fucked. Every band sucks, but every band thinks they're the greatest thing to happen to music. Shows are around $12-15 to see awful local bands in a church basement. No one has a good attitude about music anymore. It's not "let's write something original, cool, and fun for everyone," it's, "how can we make money/get girls/get famous?" So obnoxious. All the crappy bands get paid huge money to play shitty covers or even worse original at bars while any band that's talented has to break up soon after forming because no one wants to listen to them.

Such a miserable catch 22.

Spaceman Spiff 12-29-2009 11:38 AM

It's pretty much the same thing here. I've come across only about five bands in this city that I actually like, and I've seen more than I care to keep track of. They all just make such bland rock or crappy metal and write the same song over and over and over and over again.

Here are a couple of such crappy bands that I've unfortunately shared a stage with.

Me, whether or not I make it big or get any recognition, I'm in it to make music I like. It's great if people like it, of course I want people to enjoy it and come out to shows and have a good time, but I'll keep doing it even if they don't.
