things like 3 8ths notes followed by two quarters, but playing 4/4 or 3/4 over it. Subdivision stuff.

gaslight 07-10-2009 06:29 AM

Oh right I get you.

Aaron 07-10-2009 06:30 AM

Yeah. I'm a massive music nerd but keep it quiet normally, haha.

gaslight 07-10-2009 06:33 AM

I've got a few pointlessly complex song ideas in the works, going to have fun completing them.

Aaron 07-10-2009 06:35 AM

Nice. Like what?

gaslight 07-10-2009 06:43 AM

Going to have a track on the next album called Haiku which will be composed of sections like:

5 sets of 3 bar sets of 5,7 and 5
7 sets of 3 bar sets of 5,7 and 5
5 sets of 3 bar sets of 5,7 and 5

for its movements.

It's gonna be an effort so I'll notate the whole thing for myself.

Aaron 07-10-2009 06:54 AM

Fancy! If you ever need drums for your stuff let me know.

gaslight 07-10-2009 06:57 AM

Btw if that track doesn't appear on the album it's cause I couldn't do it .

Aaron 07-10-2009 07:33 AM

Haha. Word.

gaslight 07-10-2009 07:35 AM

Hoping to finish writing the first track tonight.

Aaron 07-10-2009 07:36 AM

I'm thinking of doing a post-metal album. Kinda Cult of Luna meets Isis but more of a jazz leaning. I've got some lyrical ideas I've been working over past week or so. Will be interesting to see if I can do it.

gaslight 07-10-2009 08:06 AM

For sure.

Aaron 07-10-2009 08:11 AM

I'll probably have to reteach myself guitar though, lol. It'll be Catfight On A Hotdog, but to date my musical output has been my introspective side, and I want to do a bit more of the overt and angry concepts I've been toying with.

This is one track of me doing vocals over underoath samples cut up:

What you think?

nevertoolate 07-10-2009 08:15 AM

that sounds sick Aaron good stuff

gaslight 07-10-2009 08:24 AM

Yeah very metal.

Aaron 07-10-2009 08:28 AM

Been wanting to do some tracks from scratch, rather than sample based. Hmm. We'll see how we go. Need to warm up the pipes again and not use my mobile as microphone, haha.

gaslight 07-10-2009 08:38 AM

Haha yeah safe moves.

nevertoolate 07-10-2009 08:44 AM

god this night is going forever, I've gotta wait for a phone call to pick up my presumably very drunk missus, as I sit here at my mac listening to some metal. Ring already damn it!!

Aaron 07-10-2009 08:45 AM

I'm moving back to mum's in close to eight weeks now. Getting prepared. It's an interesting time. I'm already at hers two nights per week, and it's so strange living with family again. First time in three years. Hopefully I'll have my studio finished and ready to move into around November/December. Need to start sourcing building materials.

nevertoolate 07-10-2009 08:53 AM

I couldn't imagine doin that at all. Man I lead a simple life compared to you other bros, somewhat boring one might say. Oh wait the phones ringin brb.

gaslight 07-10-2009 08:55 AM

My life's pretty simple. Whole lotta nothing unfortunately. Think I've finally cracked this song I was working on.

Aaron 07-10-2009 09:04 AM

I have major depression and keeping crazily busy is the easiest way to deal with it.

I like being the dude who's got his finger on the pulse of everything, know's what up. It's what I do. It's how I roll. Word.

gaslight 07-10-2009 09:06 AM

If all my activities came good I'd be doing so well.

That ain't what they do though.

Aaron 07-10-2009 09:09 AM

Night boys. I'm going to give myself a sleep in till 8 tomorrow.

Peace.
It's a strange beast the bass, bless it. No matter how much I like playing guitar for fun, in a band context it's bass for me any day of the week.
I play bass and guitar too. I've been playing bass for 8 years, guitar for 4. No doubt it's more fun to shred a solo on guitar but I'm always drawn back to my bass. I will never stop playing, even if I don't pick it up for a month or two, I'll always be a bassist.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-10-2009 11:23 AM

hey gas, i might come down to sydney one day to 'get a lesson' from you (by get a lesson, i mean jam) because i'd love to jam with another bassist. i'd pay too because you probably know things i don't and you could teach such things to me, so it's win win with both of us

in other news, i talked it over with my mum and stepfather tonight and i will be buying the house that i'm living in within the next 6 to 8 months.

in totally other news, i'm drunk

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-10-2009 07:26 PM

sweet, that made alot more sense than i thought it would

gaslight 07-10-2009 07:36 PM

Haha awesome man. If you know anyone in Sydney, I'm doing a deal for my friends that if they refer anyone to me for bass lessons, I give them the money from the first lesson.

I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 07-10-2009 07:47 PM

i know Aaron

gaslight 07-10-2009 08:05 PM

Aaron's a Tasmanian.
