World/Inferno Friendship Society - Red-Eyed Soul
My god, I am glad I bought this on vinyl. Inclusion of three songs not on the CD was a great idea. |
now wearing: w/ifs tshirt with a guy lighting a cop car on fire and walking away
now listening: Tapes 'n Tapes |
Nice. The only world/inferno shirt I have I made myself.

I bought this one from a drunk guy (he was hammered to the point where I had to read the labels on the shirt to find a medium) at their show, which was coincidentally the last show R.A.M.B.O. ever played, a show which I got into for free by pressing my hand against this girl I ran into and knew's hand to transfer the stamp. And then Jesus came and we got dinner. Only that last part was a joke. |
Wow, that sounds amazing.
All I know is, Red-Eyed soul is my favorite album of '06, and with the addition of "Leni Riefenstahl at the end of time" "cats are not lucky creatures" and "we will never run into one another on trains" it's officially in my top albums of all time. Can't wait for another opportunity to see them. I'm still sad I never got to see them when Yula was still in the band. |
It was killer. I only got to see like half of W/IFS' set though. I was waiting outside with like 10 friends because the show was sold out and they said there'd be room for us to come in after World/Inferno played (we were there for R.A.M.B.O. mostly). Then this girl I know came out of the building and I was like "whoa, what's up, can you smear my hand with your stamp please?" and we did it, and I was able to get in for the last half of the set. It was great though. It was a lot of fun and there was at least one dude in the crowd bleeding (I don't know why). R.A.M.B.O. also ruled. I haven't listened to W/IFS in awhile but I should.
You should check out the "A Lexicon of Friends and Enemies" demo if you don't have it, because it's good stuff and has a few songs from Red-Eyed Soul on it. annnnnd NP: Explosions in the Sky |

Since before Red-Eyed Soul, actually. When I found out that it was a demo I was shocked because it had amazing songs on it. Many of which were then put on Red-Eyed Soul, so I was really happy when that was released. What I hate is that the east side of the state there's lots of love for World/Inferno, but I live on the west side and for the longest time I was seemingly the only person who knew them. They've only played one show on this side of the state so far, and that's because they were touring with Against Me! I am such a fanboy. |

They're here at least once or twice a year, but I don't really capitalize on the opportunity. Being a fanboy's not that bad. I'm a bum. |
There's only a few bands that I am obsessed with, and World/Inferno is one of them. Almost at ranks with Zappa / Residents, but I'm not sure if I can quite say that yet.
