The swastika also isnt technically always a Nazi symbol, anyway.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:37 PM
Mainly because its not a genre. It's a style of writing and to a lesser extent, some aspects of playing.

I dont think a handful of fanboys using the term qualifies as 'enough' people.
Well no it isn't a genre, but I use it as a genre prefix or suffix, such as melodic or brutal. I'd say Bodom's first two albums were Neoclassical Powermetal, as were most of Stratovarius', and Rhapsody, and Vision Divine.

Squirrel 01-02-2006 12:38 PM

Once again, that's not what the term 'neoclassical' means.

I'l like to see you use that kind of terminology with Aria and Eggo.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:38 PM

Yes, Follow The Reaper was somewhat also.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:41 PM

Outside of metal it means everything Aria and Eggo say it does, but once it's in a metal context it means something different, how hard is that to understand.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:43 PM

Yes, IheartSP is right. Seriously, you don't hear the classical influences in Bodom's early stuff?

Neo = new, and classical = well, duh. So neoclassical is "New classical", and when used in reference to a metal band, it is obviously metal with classical influences, HENCE THE NAME NEOCLASSICAL METAL.

Squirrel 01-02-2006 12:43 PM
Outside of metal it means everything Aria and Eggo say it does, but once it's in a metal context it means something different, how hard is that to understand.
Its not, mainly because youre wrong.

It's a false term used by clueless teenagers.

Right ?

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:45 PM

The only people who call it false are the ones who are too stuck up about their classical music to admit that it has any relation. Saying "neoclassical" metal has 0 relation to classical music is a completely ignorant statement because it's obvious to people who know nothing about music even that it sounds like classical music.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:46 PM

Alright well Cunt and Julian have their different opinions, so lets break that subject...

What do guys think Follow The Reaper's best moment is?

Silenius 01-02-2006 12:46 PM

Well CoB uses classical excerpts from Mozart and such, but I don't know if neo-classical is really a valid term. I think for Warmen it may be, especially Salieri Strikes Back.

It's Return of Salieri haha wrong Star Wars movie.

And Squirrel I've never seen you come in here and say anything positive, every single time it's just to bash someone in here or bashing Bodom. If you're not gonna be reasonable then stop posting here.
What do guys think Follow The Reaper's best moment is?
Any of it. I love every song on that album except the Hellion cover. My favorite song is always changing, but I love Kissing the Shadows, Follow the Reaper, and Bodom After Midnight.

Actually theres three Salieri songs by Warmen :p

Salieri Strikes Back
Warcry of Salieri
Return of Salieri

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:50 PM

I've realized that since Leah has left I've risen to the #2 poster here, with ShadowsFallen in a humungous lead. What happened to her anyway, is she ok?

Bashing is based on opinion.

This isnt, its gross misuse of a term. Objective.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:50 PM

Warmen is awesome, someone said they were instrumental

If you want to use lowest common denominator thinking, go ahead; think that.

Yeah, I spend too much time here. :p This thread is like my eHome.

She's fine, she's just never able to get on anymore because she has a lot to do with school and a job.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:52 PM

Warmen isn't instrumental...

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:53 PM

On the Warmen album I have only like half the songs are instrumental, Alexi guest sings in a cover, some chick does another song, and the Stratovarius guy does like 2 or 3.

Shadows 01-02-2006 12:53 PM
Warmen isn't instrumental...
Very little of their stuff has vocals.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:55 PM

The whole Accept the Fact album has vocals, right?

Silenius 01-02-2006 12:56 PM
Very little of their stuff has vocals.
The ones that have Kimberly G(r)oss suck.
The whole Accept the Fact album has vocals, right?
No, about half are instrumentals I think.

Most definitely.

Not all of that album has vocals. I think about half.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:59 PM

Whatever, the whole is great. Except the one with the chick singing. Ugh...

The first 3 tracks are awesome.
