Land of the Free is a good Gamma Ray album

listened to the new Firewind album. pretty nice

pate 10-28-2010 11:53 AM

Land of the Free is awesome.

Hansi sounds like ass.

Morumbar 10-28-2010 04:49 PM

I don't see how anyone could think that Hansi Kursch is not one of the greatest powermetal singers of all time, but what surprises me even more is the bad reception the new BG album got on this forum.

Anyway, in regard to my last post in this thread: I listened to Rhapsody of Fire's The Tears of Frozen Angels and it's really, really good. The first album by them where the vocals really didn't annoy me at all.

PS. For some reason your avatar isn't working for me, Lee, and it's actually kind of strange not seeing a yawning face next to your posts.

Tyler 10-28-2010 04:50 PM

I dug the new Rhapsody of Fire a lot. It was nice to see them playing fast after that shit they did on the last album, which was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Poet 10-28-2010 07:07 PM

I still need to listen to Rhapsody more. New Helloween and Firewind are awesome though including a badass flute solo in Helloween's song "Raise the Noise." It's so cheesy.

BG is still the second best album I've heard all year too.

Deth 10-28-2010 10:19 PM

didn't listen to the new one because the one before it was so horrible, might check it out for fun

Tyler 10-28-2010 10:20 PM

new Rhapsody is nothing like the one before it thankfully. It's back to being fast and fun and the guitarwork is awesomee.

I know, but this one by far makes up for every thing they did wrong on A Twist In The Myth. I think it's my favourite album this year. Maybe Agalloch will be able to top it, but we'll see.

Gonna listen to some Rhapsody right now.

Mr Fahrenheit 10-29-2010 09:09 AM

Has anyone heard Rhapsody's new symphonic album: The Cold Embrace of Fear - A Dark Romantic Symphony'

I heard some clips and they didn't sound too good

Sigwulf 10-30-2010 12:07 PM

Lol Tyler, you are gonna love the new Rhapsody single than: The Cold Embrace of Fear. I am a big Rhapsody fan and even i was falling asleep the first time. however after hearing it a few times it turned out to be awesome.

Morumbar 10-30-2010 12:17 PM

What other Rhapsody of Fire release sounds most like The Frozen Tears of Angels?

Also, I know virtually no one here digs Nightwish, but I read they're recording a new album atm. Pretty excited.

Sigwulf 10-30-2010 02:47 PM

Hmm, Frozen Tears of Angels is pretty much something new. A bit of both really, a mixture between the old and new Rhapsody. But i reckon you'd like Triumph or Agony aswell than.

If you remember my previous name you would know I love Nightwish. The fact that we have to wait until like next September to get it I am not that excited yet

Morumbar 10-31-2010 04:47 AM

The Poet and the Pendulum. It's a shame that many of the users that used to post a lot more only pop up once every now and then when this thread gets bumped or something.

And I'll check out Rhapsody's Triumph or Agony, thanks.

Mother 10-31-2010 05:29 AM

I dig nightwish, although the female vocals annoy me at times (old&new). The new chick is slightly more bearable

Morumbar 11-06-2010 04:42 AM

Dude, even powermetal singers don't look that gay.

Shadows Within 11-10-2010 12:03 AM

anyone got the new Star one album? it's fucking awesome so far.

why doesn't someone here talk about Kamelot? They rock, dudes! They are the ones who even brought me to this genre. Listen to THE HAUNTING to experience.

Morumbar 11-10-2010 04:53 AM

I used to really like Kamelot, but I really don't like the vocals at all. I like The Haunting, though. The singer from Epica is pretty good.

Overall, I think The Fourth Legacy is a bit better, though.

Shadows Within 11-10-2010 09:11 AM

what is it with you people and not liking awesome vocalists? damn

Morumbar 11-10-2010 06:36 PM

Anyone here heard Helloween's new album yet? What's it like?

ArcLite 11-10-2010 07:43 PM

An improvement.

It's not album of the year material but I was a fun listen. I have to give it another toss and I may buy it, or at least a few songs. Decent album for the most part and seemed better than the last couple to me. Worth a little time to check out. When I did they were streaming the whole thing on their Myspace.

Deth 11-10-2010 11:55 PM

Morumbar 11-12-2010 05:48 AM

[B]BAPTISED IN FIRE

So, anybody know a few good Rhapsody of fire, firewind, spellblast and pyramaze songs?

Morumbar 11-20-2010 10:39 AM

The whole of Rhapsody of Fire's new album, minus the guitar wankery.

Been a while since I last listened to Pyramaze.

666DiMe666 11-29-2010 03:46 PM

Does anyone else think Helloween's new album sounds a lot like Disturbed?

Morumbar 11-29-2010 03:53 PM

I still need to listen to that one.

Btw, a friend of mine just told me Malmsteen released a new album as well this year. Completely missed that. Anyway, I liked the last one, so I'm kind of curious for Relentless (the new one). It's got Tim Owens on vox as well.
