Zappa 11-07-2005 06:49 PM

If you don't like "For Artists Only" you can just get out of town.

Bartender 11-07-2005 06:49 PM

Thank You For Sending Me An Angel was the first Talking Heads song I heard, and I'm glad it was.

I'm also of the opinion that pretty much every song is great, though.

Little Man being Erased 11-07-2005 07:04 PM

Why can't there be more than one good one?

Zappa 11-07-2005 07:06 PM

With Talking Heads, there are 5 "good ones."

Little Man being Erased 11-07-2005 07:07 PM

Good.

Dog 11-07-2005 07:57 PM

I'm a big Talking Heads fan. Has anyone bought the DualDisc boxset for TH that was recently released? I'd like to get it but I've heard a lot of audio complaints and for that sum of money I wanna make sure it's worth it.

Oingo Boing - Only A Lad
Tomahawk - s/t

I'm going to wait till January to just buy the first 5 releases. I'm not big on Little Creatures or Naked or True Stories.

The Remain in Light dualdisc I'm especially excited for. It has unreleased tunes from those sessions.

Dog 11-07-2005 08:09 PM

Ah, I didn't know that they're releasing them individually. I'll wait for them, too, unless I find the box set used and/or really cheap somewhere.

And yeah I'm looking forward to the unreleased material.

Zappa 11-07-2005 08:10 PM

I just read that the CDs don't fit in a computer disc drive, cause they're thick. HOW WILL I RIP THEM?

Anxious 11-07-2005 09:51 PM
Why was R.E.M. not highlighted?
Cause, I umm, forgot.

Little Man being Erased 11-07-2005 11:06 PM

The Beatles - Rubber Soul
The Beatles - Revolver
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles - The White Album
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Beatles - Let it Be

So I listened to Rubber Soul this morning and then I couldn't stop.

It was a good day.

Talking Heads - The Name of the Band is Talking Heads

It totally pwns Stop Making Sense.

Daniel! 11-07-2005 11:25 PM

Sonic Youth - Washing Machine
Meat Puppets - Too High to Die

Washing Machine is a quality album.

YDload 11-08-2005 12:41 AM

HUM- "Apollo"

I must not have heard this particular song very often, but it's really quite beautiful. So quiet and subdued as opposed to the rest of the album.

br3ad_man 11-08-2005 02:01 AM

Dntel - Life Is Full of Possibilities

Interstate 11-08-2005 04:25 AM
Dntel - Life Is Full of Possibilities
Nice.

John Vanderslice - Five Years just arrived in the post today and since I'm off work ill I thought I'd give it a spin. I've listened to two tracks so far and I'm liking it. It has all the Vanderslice songs I've previously listened to on it which is good. (It's kind of like a best of compilation thing)

As long as you're referring to the CD version, you're right. That two-CD set is ridiculously fantastic.

br3ad_man 11-08-2005 05:23 AM

That's my friend's favourite Talking Heads album. I've kind of ignored it because it's a live album.

OrbDragon 11-08-2005 06:07 AM

I'm actually liking the song "Summer Skin" by Death Cab For Cutie, which is a first.

Interstate 11-08-2005 06:31 AM

It's a great song, one of my favourite off Plans.

br3ad_man 11-08-2005 06:36 AM

Is Plans good? I seriously think Trans is the best, I've heard We Have The Facts and The Photo Album many times and none of them come close for me.
Is Plans good? I seriously think Trans is the best, I've heard We Have The Facts and The Photo Album many times and none of them come close for me.
I didn't like it too much at first but it's become one of my favourite albums of this year. Personally nothing can top ...Facts though. Transatlanticism is also a brilliant album. Give You Can Play Songs With These Chords a spin, it's a compilation of early demos, B-sides and rarities - that's my second favourite and a great example of the bands early work.

Of course I am a Death Cab fan(atic) so I might be a bit bias.

Luxor 11-08-2005 09:25 AM

If you think Transatlanticism is their best album, then you will like Plans.

6Stringer 11-08-2005 09:44 AM

The only DCFC album I own is We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes, it's a good album.

Today I listened to Of Montreal - Cherry Peel

Luxor 11-08-2005 10:33 AM

I'm listening to Pedro The Lion for the first time in a long time. They're pretty good.

JonM 11-08-2005 11:51 AM

I saw Pedro open for Death Cab. I liked them. I liked them both, actually, but this was back before Plans came out.

YDload 11-08-2005 03:27 PM

HUM- Downward is Heavenward

This is undoubtedly the best modern rock album from the late 90s that there is. I mean, it's certainly good, but what else from that genre could beat it? Creed?! Gimme a break.

I've really been getting into Pink Floyd lately. It sounds so lame, but even though they've been around for ages, I never really got into them until now. But they're incredible.
