Then there was some war where you didn't like the Queen then BAM big angry God-fearing nation with a penchant for being late for wars. |

As opposed to England, who has a penchant for losing them. |
Man I wish I could throw around internet lingo then I could be cool too. :(
As opposed to England, who has a penchant for losing them.
To be honest, being a country for about 800 years longer than America, England is bound to have lost (and won) more wars. Also: Vietnam. I would also like to point out that our apparent "penchant for losing" wars forged quite an empire. Also also: Sup Lod? |
Yeah, did seem a bit of an odd point given that historically England is regarded as incredibly successful in their military campaigns.
And like you say, I guess the obvious reply is just to remind Americans of Vietnam. Years ago some dude on here had a massive spazfit and was trying to tell everyone that the US won the war, citing semantics like the definition of "win" haha. |
Lol I know I was mainly just poking fun at the American revolutionary war.
Although Vietnam being a US loss is kinda debatable. It was a shitty, botched quagmire but technically Saigon didn't fall until after we pulled our troops out and probably wouldn't have if we had stayed. |

And like you say, I guess the obvious reply is just to remind Americans of Vietnam.
lmao you mean the vietnam that the allied powers after war world 2 agreed belonged to the french and britain occupied south vietnam, giving weapons to the developing french forces while china was occupying north vietnam, all complicit parties developing the two competing regions? |
I dunno man, 2 decades of failure culminating in being kicked out of Indochina, with Cambodia and Laos subsequently coming under communist rule, while outnumbering and outgunning your enemy significantly sounds like a pretty definitive loss to me.
Edit: i'm not even reading Josh's post. |
Vietnam is a fantastic place
You get a cool passport sticker type stamp when you visit, takes up a whole passport stamp page Also, If an American passport holder wants a tourist visa in Vietnam, its 5 times more expensive than a non U.S citizen... Understandable none the less Wish I was there right now :( |
