To PsycoticFlubber

That was a bit overboard to be very funny but...good work.
Eh...yeah. Sometimes I try, but when I try, even I look at it and want to smack myself. So feel free to smack me via Forum Comment.
I've recently discovere how nice GP is. It's helping get this Opeth down very well. I'm printing out some Dissection scores right now. Night's Blood, here I come. :)
Excellent choice. I was actually just listening to Night's Blood.

The acoustic part in that song is practically orgasmic.

MRDuCran 01-01-2006 09:35 PM

I recently joined the offical CoB boards like I said I would. I take most of it seriously but I'm an arsehole on there, just like the rest of em. It's pretty funny laughing at all the people failing at playing anything by Bodom, especially the fukkin Kissing the Shadows solo, or Silent Night, Bodom Night.

Some kid has posted the "official" Trashed, Lost and Strungout lyrics, they sound really wrong though. I doubt Alexi actually provided them.

I've been worshipping Dissection lately. I can't get enough of Storm of the Light's Bane. Night's Blood will be the first Dissection song I learn.

King_Of_Terrors 01-01-2006 10:47 PM

I'm downloading that album right now, I love the album cover.

Shadows 01-02-2006 12:13 PM

It's a great album.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:16 PM

LeeRoxy 01-02-2006 12:21 PM

I used to be a HUGE bodom fan..beyond what was healthy. I was very dissapointed with their new album.. but that might just be me. I still like their older stuff off of Something Wild, Hatebreeder, and Follow the Reaper. Hate Crew Deathroll was pretty good as well, but I like the older stuff better.

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:23 PM

I agree with LeeRoxy 100%

Pretty soon Alexi is going to be a hxc dancer/

<_<
>_>

:p

Shadows 01-02-2006 12:24 PM

I doubt that. A lot of people don't like the new stuff, but I <3 it almsot as much as the old.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:24 PM

The thing about the new album is I don't think it should have been a surprise to anyone. You could tell the direction they were headed in HCDR. The lyrics have always been punk for the most part, especially on FTR. It was only a matter of time before they realized punk doesn't go with neoclassical, and now they found much more appropriate music to fit the lyrics.

Squirrel 01-02-2006 12:26 PM

lol 'neoclassical' lawl

King_Of_Terrors 01-02-2006 12:26 PM

Cunt, I agree with Julian. It is somewhat neoclassical.

I thought it was pretty obvious that they were going to do something like this after TL&S, but people still seemed to be surprised. I thought it was weird.

My point is the misuse of that term.

Silenius 01-02-2006 12:29 PM

Lets hope against hope then that Norther won't follow in the tracks of Solution7...

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:29 PM

Squirrel Neoclassical for a while has been known as a genre of metal taking classical melodies, and namely the harmonic minor scale, and applying it in a metal way, or also using symphonic and dynamic elements coughhatebreedercough. Also in an even broader sense any sort of shred can be considered neoclassical jsut for it's use of speed and virtuosity.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:30 PM

Norther is a store brand Bodom. Their new album is going to be a store brand AYDY. Read the song titles and you'll know that almost instantly.

Agreed.

And watch Passage To The Reaper and tell me that isn't neoclassical.

AA-12 01-02-2006 12:31 PM

But the thing is, that's not Neo-Classical. It's just a very bastardized version of Neo-Classical. If you want some awesome Neo-Classical check out Igor Stravinsky.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:32 PM

In this forum, Neoclassical is an abreviation for Neoclassical Metal.

Yeah, I know the song titles, but still... At least new Kalmah is good.

EDIT: Stravinsky is a modern composer, not neo-classical.

What you mean to say is its a term made up by clueless people on the internet to try and glorify a stale way of playing.

Neoclassical is a term that has been used for decades, it has nothing to do with raping harmonic minor scales at 'fast' speeds.

IheartSP 01-02-2006 12:33 PM

Oh also, Necronominon I would be pleased if you changed your avatar.

Shadows 01-02-2006 12:34 PM

Their song titles have always been like that, but that's probably what will happen anyway. I've never heard Solution 7, but I like Death Unlimited, so I'm fine with whatever they do.

If enough people have done it and enough people call it that, I don't understand why it isn't a genre. Is there some official genre process I don't know about?

Solution 7 was on the border of Nu-metal.

Mainly because its not a genre. It's a style of writing and to a lesser extent, some aspects of playing.

I dont think a handful of fanboys using the term qualifies as 'enough' people.
