Nah man they didn't play Peruvian Skies. Raise The Knife was the only FiF song, despite it not actually being on the album. There wern't too many others to do, because most of the album ('s good songs) has already been done on Live DVD's, so the fans don't really want much repetition. I reckon it was a good choice.

I also think that The Spirit Carries on wasn't the best choice - Home would've been much cooler. Or perhaps Finally Free.

But yeah, pretty good setlist imo. Panic Attack would've been an awesome choice rather than one of the ballads (well, IWBY isn't really a ballad, but it's a lighter song) though.

Lord Abortion 07-28-2006 03:53 AM

Nah, man, the spirit carries on ftw

Pfft you get Panic Attack and The Glass Prison on the Gigantour DVD so it's all good

And Finally Free>The Spirit Carries On

Inkstar 07-28-2006 06:44 AM

Ah, that is true. Thanks for pointing that out eug ;)

And yes, Finally Free is awesome.

Jev 07-28-2006 07:34 AM

The drums at the end are insane. I love it.

GenuineImitation 07-28-2006 09:51 AM

When does the Gigantour DVD come out?

Jev 07-28-2006 03:18 PM

Umm I'm not entirely sure but I believe it's August or September. It's somewhere in the Megadeth thread.

Kreator2112 07-28-2006 05:01 PM

I bought 'John Petrucci's Wild Stringdom' today. Seems like an excellent guitar book.

Jev 07-28-2006 05:24 PM

Where'd you get it?

Atica 07-28-2006 05:53 PM

That's a great book, Petrucci explains pretty well everything, and you can learn how to play Chopin's Piano Concerto in A minor, Opus No. 2.
I got it last yeear, my old guitar teacher gave it to me. :p

How could you possibly do that piece justice on a guitar? Oh, and Chopin's concertos are Opus Nos. 11 and 21 :\

Edit:and he didn't compose one in A minor as far as I can tell...

Inkstar 07-28-2006 06:57 PM
The drums at the end are insane. I love it.
Yep. On the live version, that is, of course. Mind you, the studio version still has some good drums. I LOVE the way Mike's kit is mic'd on SfaM. Absolutely love it. It's an orgasmic sound. And even though at the end of Finally Free he doesn't go too wild (studio), it still sounds great because of his kit.

Awesome kit + awesome mic setup = orgasm x100000.

Or maybe that's just cause I'm a drummer. :P

On the topic of insane drums, how good is the end of Home on Metropolis 2000! Awesome drum bust out, and JP holds that end note really well. Same goes for Octavarium on the Score mp3 teaser (JP holding note).

Oh, I had a dream last night that I was like backstage on the night SCORE was being recorded. Got to see the orchestra and stuff. It was hell weird.
Then for some reason, I was out the front of Radio City (I looked at pics of it last night on the net) and I bought my ticket, went in, and got front seats. DT were about to come on, but there was problems with the stage curtain and it didn't come up, and eventually they cancelled the show and said they'll give us free tickets to another show in November. >_>

Well, on the book, it is as Chopin's Piano Concerto in A minor, Opus No. 2, and Petrucci wrote it like three times. I just looked for that song in my computer and foud that it is named as Etudes Op.10 No.2 in A minor, so I think that you are right and there's a mistake on the book.
Here is the link so you can see how Petrucci plays it. (it is almost at the end of the video)

Guitar center. I went through and played the first tabbed excersize. It's just his warm up routine.
When does the Gigantour DVD come out?
CD: August 22
DVD: September 5

Kreator2112 07-28-2006 08:37 PM

Yea the Chopin piece is pretty fast. It might take me a while to get through the book.

Atica 07-28-2006 08:53 PM

Yeah, I jumped until that part when I was on example 95. Itis pretty hard to play, but all the excercises help for that final performance. Hope you like the book and when learn how to play Chopin's piece, tell me. :p

Kreator2112 07-28-2006 08:55 PM

Thanks, I should enjoy it.

Yeah, that's Chopin's Etude Opus 10 No.2 in A minor. Pretty cool rendition, but hardly as difficult as the original.

Inkstar 07-29-2006 06:40 AM

Just pre-ordered both the SCORE DVD and CD's together :D:D

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Firecracker 07-29-2006 08:58 AM

Psyclone 07-29-2006 09:00 AM

What would be a good Dream Theater CD to buy if I'm just getting into them?
