I really like it. At first I thought it was meh as well, but i guess it grew on me.
Youth isn't bad, I liked quite a few tracks on that CD
It's a damn fine album.
A Tout Le Monde, Elysian Fields, and Reckoning Day are some of my favorite Megadeth tracks.
I guess Risk was good for the genre but TWNAH was just bland and uninteresting
Dread and The Fugitive Mind?! When?!
Nope, I do too.
Speed ftw; |
Indeed. Shred suits Megadeth well.
Dread and The Fugitive Mind?! When?!
DATFM, Return To Hangar were good and Moto Psycho was OK but the other 8 or so tracks were just pretty much shit. The solo's were pretty cool tho (Moto Pshyco and RTH) |
Dread And The Fugitive Mind is an excellent song.
My band can play that song! :)
Same. First Megadeth song I learnt fully
Peace Sells was the first Megadeth song my band played
First Deth song I learnt would have been Peace Sells.
You wussies!:p
My band plays around with The Conjuring a bit, and that's fun. The first 'Deth song I think I learned was Last Rites/Loved To Deth |
My band plays Take No Prisoners  , but some of the riffs sound pretty sloppy.
The first Megadeth song I learned was Peace Sells. The first Megadeth song that I learned and considered it a real challenge was My Last Words. btw, I play bass. |

In My Last Words, Ellefson does a lot of strange bass runs and stuff during the "You! Next to Die!" part that I still can't figure out by ear. There's no bass tab for Skull Beneath the Skin, and he has a lot of bass fills in that song that hard to get. |
That was one of the main reasons why I considered My Last Words a challenge, when MXtabs was up, there was a tab for MLW I learned and then eliminated the erronneous lines.
Then, when I got the Guitar Pro I downloaded the MLW tab and combined it with the MX tab, the rest was pure ear because both tabs had the verse wrong. I still don't know if it is 100% right, but I play it along with the song and fits perfectly. |
There's a bootleg from '84 with Kerry King on it, and Mustaine and Ellefson do this little instrumental called Quicksand, and I've really been wondering how it's played, but the quality is so bad I don't even want to try to learn it by ear. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
Could you up it?
My friend borrowed the CD. I forgot that he still has it. Once I get it back I'll put it up.
Sounds great thanks
It's strange though, because it really sounds just like a bunch of chromatic scales. Although very, very fast.

Well, Kerry King was involved after all. |
Q: What does Araya yell before the solo in Expendible Youth?
A: KERRY, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! We are so lucky that Kerry never joined Megadeth. |
 Agreed, Megadeth solo's would just be complete crap
Imagine Hangar 18 with Kerry King.
That would be painful. |
haha.. yeah. I saw this top 10 guitarists show on Much More Music yesterday and Dave was 3rd and they played the Hangar 18 video.
Hangar 18 with Kerry King would sound like a fight between a cat and a guitar. It would give you a ****ing headache.

Thats a pretty killer video, Marty's solos are a million times better than Dave's solos tho |
Yeah, but it was a viewers choice list, so more voted for Dave, I guess.
Well, Dave's rhythm playing is 5 times better than Marty's.
