The Big Ten is one of the many National Collegiate Athletic Association conferences, featuring University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Illinois, Northwestern University, Purdue University, Uni of Indiana, Uni of Wisconsin, Uni of Minnesota, Penn State University, Uni of Iowa, and The Ohio State University, a uni which nobody should care about.
A "mark" is defined differently for me than the way Ray described it. He'll have to clarify, unless he meant it in the same way I know it. |

How do you define "mark"? Where I come from a "mark" is a sap, a sucker, an easy target. When someone is "mark-ass" (a "mark-ass bitch", for example) it means that they're weak or pathetic. |
Ah, that's what a mark is for me too.
So the Big Ten are places which offer sports scholarships? |
Negatory, it's just a group of colleges in the NCAA.
|
Ah, that's what a mark is for me too.
So the Big Ten are places which offer sports scholarships?
Well, they do, but they are all four year universities. The NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Assocation) grouped them into one group (or Conference) based on the fact that they are all very large schools that are located near each other. The Pac-10 (Pacific 10), for instance, consists of schools in Arizona (Arizona, Arizona State), California (Cal-Berkley, USC, UCLA, Stanford), Oregon (Oregon, Oregon State), and Washington (Washington, Washington State) There's also the Atlantic Coast Conference, with schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Florida, Massachusetts (for some reason), and Georgia the Southeastern Conference with schools in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Arkansas the Big XII is broken up into two divisions, the South (all six schools are in Texas and Oklahoma) and North (has schools in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Iowa) and then the Big East (colleges in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Rhode Island, among others...they also have Cincinnati from Ohio, DePaul in Chicago, Notre Dame in Indiana, Louisville in Kentucky, Marquette in Wisconsin, South Florida, and a few other random schools). So...yeah. I probably went into too much detail, but whatever.
Ray, you seem to have beef with just about every other school in the Big Ten
Naw, I really only hate Michigan, Ohio State, and Northwestern. I'm pretty neutral with everyone else. |

Well, Americans are more crazy about our sports than Australia is* * - I'm going out on a limb here but I doubt any of your pro athletes are being paid $20 million a year But yeah, it's really cool. The fact that we're all regional rivals to start with (not to mention the class distinction involved; for instance, Michigan and Northwestern look down their noses at everyone in our conference, which makes us hate them even more), and that the main fanbases are drunk crazy college students, make college rivalries more fun than pro rivalries, and make college games more fun to attend.
Yea, they're everybody's bitch.
fix'd edit - actually their football team was pretty scrappy this year, they even made it to a Bowl game.
Yes, the East Coasties are nobodies
You don't follow sports, so I'll let you slide on not knowing of the supposed "East Coast Bias". |
edit - actually their football team was pretty scrappy this year, they even made it to a Bowl game.
There's so many of them you only have to be 6-5 to go to one. |
Haha, they were 7-4 (7-5 after they lost the bowl game)
|
Don't you go to one if you have a winning record or something like that?
|
Ray, you seem to have beef with just about every other school in the Big Ten
Well, it's only natural to hate certain schools in your conference, especially if you're bitter rivals. You don't have to hate everyone, but I mean, who likes to lose? It's not like your crosstown rival from high school was your school's best friend for things; I mean, why have pep assemblies other than to get out of class? When anything U of M/MSU-related transpires, it's always fun. The same is probably for you when USC/UCLA throw down. /// Rutgers has really turned their football program around substantially. And to be honest, I only think of East Coast schools when I'm thinking basketball, but not football. |
I still hate VT with a passion, even though they are no longer in the Big East. I only wish we still played them because I think WVU finally has a better team than them.
lol @ Marcus Vick getting kicked off the team At the games students would have shirts that said "Pitt Sucks" on the front and "Vick Swallows" on the back  |
And to be honest, I only think of East Coast schools when I'm thinking basketball, but not football.
Same here; BU, Georgetown, Duke, UConn, Maryland. And it seems like it's near impossible to have a great football team and a great basketball team, unless of course you're Texas. /// USC/UCLA is by far the biggest game of any kind in all Southern California. The entire region falls into schism between the two teams. |
And to be honest, I only think of East Coast schools when I'm thinking basketball, but not football
Well, the most dominant programs in college football history are southern (Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma), midwestern (Notre Dame, scUM), or west coast (University of Spoiled Children), so I can't blame you. Of course, UCLA IS the best program in college basketball history, just throwing that out there, and behind them Kentucky and Indiana have the most national championships. Weird stuff.
BU
Boston University? |
or west coast (University of Spoiled Children).
/// Boston University?
Jesus Christ, you have no idea how old that is. UCLA fans don't even say that anymore. /// My bad, BC. |
Jesus Christ, you have no idea how old that is. UCLA fans don't even say that anymore.
That never gets old. Especially when you're dating someone from a USC family
My bad, BC.
Pretty weird, they really haven't been a solid college hoops program. |
