Send me a cheap practice amp. That'll help get you some money.
Is it okay if it's a guitar amp with a rip in the speaker? |
Pew pew.
|
So, those Acoustic 260 Mini stacks are amazing. I'm going to buy a dinky practice amp and re-build a cab and head enclosure to make my own mini-stack for quiet, at-home practice with my guitarist.

Hungover? I just came off of a four day bender.
Morning after flying back to Calgary. I had one hangover in the last hour of the plane ride, then another one in the morning. |

I just moved my monitor about 8 inches to the side so I could fit one of my new speakers next to it, and it feels so so wrong D: I'm not sure I can go on like this. |

Buy some speaker mounts, and mount your speakers on the wall, facing down at your ears. It's worth it. You'll be much happier. :thumb: That being said, that's next on my agenda for this weekend - install surround sound in my room. I've got all the speakers ready to go, I just have to get off my *** and run wire and install them. |
Haha, my computer isn't really placed ideally. It's in kind of an alcove in the room. It works, but it isn't perfect. I'll cope with things how they are. It's more annoying that the keyboard isn't really in front of the monitor anymore. I'll adapt and fix as I'm going - new speakers are totally totally worth it. They sent me two pairs for some reason too. I only got charged for one. Think I'll sell the second set and earn back some of what I spent.
|
What kind? How much?
|
M-Audio AV30s. Wanted something a bit better, but they cost me about 60 quid I think so I mustn't grumble. My old ones broke, so I needed something pretty sharpish! They're plenty loud, and sound better the louder you get them. But they're for desktop use with other people in the house, and another house through the next wall, so I doubt they'll really get cranked.
|
That's pretty cool though they sent you the extra set, I'd say return them back to the place for credit tell them it wasn't the kind your "kid" wanted or something, wrong type, whatever excuse suits then you get full cashback...

If I do that, they might realise it isn't the same size box they sent out, haha. Each packing box for the speakers looks to contain two retail boxes as far as I can see - looks like they didn't realise and just sent the packing carton, assuming the contents was just one pair of speakers.
Alternatively, I might find another use for some more speakers ^_^ Mini-studio in our practice room? |

There's something to be said about the comfort of a computer desk. If my monitor is moved an inch or angled wrong, I notice, and I feel awkward for a while with it. I could stand to pick up some powered studio monitors for my room. My headphones work pretty well for now though. |
And I've just got my basic recording setup sorted now :) My bass isn't here so that I can try it out though :( Just using an EBS Microbass II as a direct box/preamp/speaker simulation straight into my external soundcard. Can't see it going wrong.
Ran my Zune through it though and it all records fine, and I have plenty of control over the levels and EQ. I'm armed with drum tracks, and ready to commence demo-ing ;p |
My RBI preamp has a DI out, so I use that into my soundcard. I then take the dry signal from my Big Muff Pi and send it to the other channel on my soundcard.
I'm going to start sending my recording guy both tracks so that he can mix and match as he sees fit. |
Yikes, does the Big Muff actually sound good with no preamp at all to go through? :/ I'd have to be convinced about that. But I don't really like the Big Muff that much. Or fuzz actually in general D:
