I was in the pit too. I transcribed the "Fat Psycho Kid" rap yesterday. Then I had it stuck in my head while I tried to fall asleep.

Dancin' Man 12-18-2004 09:23 AM
You think this place is blackhole of attention?

Ever been to the pit?

Spam central.

I think this is the only place along with D&P boards with common knowledge involved in all the conversations
Is that a joke?

/dummer

Distant Echoes 12-18-2004 09:27 AM

not really. Drums and percussion boards (if you didnt know what D&P meant) has some smart guys there, and the noobs arnt even that annoying.

But if you can gain respect in the pit, you can conquer all goals in life. I swear, everything you say in there has to be replied with
a)flame
b)usually lame joke
c)something sexual like being raped or having sex
d)two word comments

I have never got 1 intelegent response in the pit

Dancin' Man 12-18-2004 09:30 AM

But they're so dumb.

Seriously though, is that a joke?

R&M is one of the stupidest places here, after The Pit, and maybe on a par with Punk. I love it here, and there's a bunch of cool people, but there's also a whole lot of morons. Alt/Indie is like heaven in comparison, as is Jazz and, for the most part, Other.

Joe - we don't know. That's always been the answer, mod or otherwise.

Per Ardua Ad Astra 12-18-2004 09:45 AM

Yeah, the average IQ of this forum might be 2.

Alt/Indie has so many better discussions than in R&M. They dont have to worry about morons entering a thread and saying "lol this band sux lol".

Distant Echoes 12-18-2004 10:09 AM

Who knew you could get flamed for complements...maybe these forums are are full of morons...myself included

Nahh it wasnt a flame, more like a correction

Distant Echoes 12-18-2004 10:16 AM

And the forum IQ skyrockets to 2.7!

alright lets just drop the whole subject...

...

so...

whats up?

NP: The Doors - The End

Mekkalayakay 12-18-2004 10:26 AM

There are probably around 50 decent posters in R&M, and around 15-20 of those post semi-frequently.. :(

Bartender's right, but I wouldn't say that this forum is as stupid as the punk forum.

NP: Devin Townsend - Funeral

Arucard 12-18-2004 10:29 AM

I used to only post in the punk forum, and as soon as they took the community thread away BAM, downhill it went. I think one of the reason the punk forum is so bad, is because of total ignoarnce of what punk actually is. About 50% of people in there are like LiNk 182 Rox My BoSeRx Gu#ys1, which ruins it for the people who actually enjoy the scene and the music.

But i like to count myself among the 50 decent posters :)

Distant Echoes 12-18-2004 10:33 AM

I dont think i can call my self a decent poster anymore after getting involved in this thread

Arucard 12-18-2004 10:35 AM

haha. This thread keeps R+M alive.

Well, I believe the regulars there think it's a lot better than it really is. There tons of random crap lists that pop up all the time.

I find the board boring most the time.

Distant Echoes 12-18-2004 10:38 AM

It does keep this place running... as well as the classic rock thread.

The only threat to these forums (i think) is the endless Official band threads and "What do you think of this band" threads.

Sometimes i feel like all i should do is post in the classic rock thread and just sign off the internet for another day.

jpj 12-18-2004 10:39 AM

I'm popping bubble wrap :)

NP: Black Sabbath-N.I.B.

Mekkalayakay 12-18-2004 10:43 AM

I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go through with it; Once I reach the big 10 grand in posts, I'm going to ask DBJ to reset them. All of them, just like Zerokewl/Non Sequitur did.

The reasons:

1. I've got an internet paranoia freak dad, (I would be too) and if I saw my son with 10,000 posts on a message board on the internet, I'd think there was seriously something wrong. So I am constantly doing other things while my dad is in this room, or when he walks by. I hide my posts, and I'm getting tired of it. :(

2. It's a constant reminder of how much time I've wasted away at this forum. Every once in a while, it gets to me, and I leave for a couple weeks, and that's not something I want to do. I just want to post less frequently (I'm going to post almost nothing in the Pit anymore. It's a shithole anyway)

But first, I want to reach 10,000, which could possibly happen today.

You may call me crazy and stupid, and my respect (yes, people with high post counts have more respect) will be gone, but I really want to do it.

And after typing this all up, I'm starting to think it's a bad idea. At least I have 90+ posts to think about it :-/

:(

BludgeonySteve 12-18-2004 10:46 AM

That's a good idea. But maybe just get him to set it back 8000 or so. You joined a pretty long time ago.

Arucard 12-18-2004 10:52 AM

Yeh, but you still have 90 posts to think with. New Avatar! It took so long to re-size it, what happened to starred members getting bigger avatars?

I don't see the point, to be honest, though it's not like I'll try and stop you if you want to have it done.

Distant Echoes - what was your previous account?

The only reason is, to get a half decent album cover/picture, you need about 100 by 100, and its gay cause theyre not even that big...
I don't see the point, to be honest, though it's not like I'll try and stop you if you want to have it done.
I'm still thinking about it. :( Maybe I'll come up with a different solution.

Dancin' Man 12-18-2004 11:03 AM

I want to name a band Future Breed Machine just so that I get to talk to Meshuggah to ask them if I can. Or do you not have to if it's after a song?

Does your dad know your mx name? I know my parents don't, and if they did they wouldn't even look at my post count.

I don't think you have to ask permission, not that that has to stop you. I wouldn't imagine Spiral Architect asked permission from Sabbath, though.

Heh, sorry. I think that idea just kinda got dropped, in favour of stars (which is actually a built-in feature of vBulletin, which mx just had to activate). I think.
