I don't own it, but I have heard a lot of it, and it's just like any other Testament, pretty Sh*tty
I haven't heard anything after PWYP, but I love The Legacy, and about half of TNO and PWYP.

Huber 06-23-2005 07:14 PM

After PWYP, Testament completely leaves thrash, and plays a more traditional Metal, almost Alternative Metal sound. It's still very good, but definetly not thrash. I'd still say give it a try. See avatar

Not exactly true. Demonic features some groovy half-thrash songs, Low has Dog Faced Gods and some groove stuff, and The Gathering is probably the closest thing to thrash they've done since Souls of Black. Mind you, none of the above albums are exactly masterpieces. :(

So, I've got votes for Sabbat and Overkill. Let's vote on those two; first one to three votes gets the gig.

Anyone in here into black/thrash (Blackened Thrash) like Aura Noir or Deströyer 666?

I've been getting into them more lately, and I like them a lot. Any recommendations on some other similar bands?

NP: Aura Noir - Brohl of Oblivion

Early Sodom, early Bathory, Nocturnal, Nunslaughter (they're like black/thrash with some early death metal influence; I love these guys), Toxic Holocaust.

Listen to those and I'll get you more if you want. :D

Excellent, I'll check them out (The ones I haven't heard yet) when I get back from guitar camp next week.

Thanks.

The first Sodom EP and LP, and Exorcist - Nightmare Theater was sort of black/speed.

RCA i think you should do the thread about Sabbat, everyone knows about Overkill.

a8o 06-24-2005 06:21 AM
They have Destruction system which was never released.

Ordered:
Slaughter - Strappado
Darkness - Death Squad

both today. :thumb: Should take a while to arrive though
Good choices, espescially on the SLaughter. I wrote a crappy review of it one day now on the Encyclopedia Metallum. Love the album.

Speaking of Destroyer 666: I've been into them for about as long as I've been listening to metal. Somehting about the song "Australian and Antichirst" really appealed to me. Some of their ambient passages are a bit tedious though.

And early Bathory: My favourite record of theirs is The Return because it actually has riffs! That whole album flows so well and although there's probably a lack of diversity, the crunch of the guitar tone just makes me want to headbang.

Yeah Slaughter are great, I think i'll do a thread on here to see if anyone else has heard of them.
I like some early Bathory, but i'm not a big fan.

One of my favorites as well. :thumb:

Well, I'll start the Heroes of Thrash thread today and it will feature Sabbat (the voting never finished...oh well). Is there anything in particular that you guys want included in the thread?

metal-militia 06-24-2005 11:30 AM

Looking forward too it RCA. :thumb:

Everyone go check out my Slaughter thread.

What do you guys think of Sepultura's thrash era?
What do you guys think of Sepultura's thrash era?
phenomenal thrash, and Chaos A.D was a grand album as well :)

Beneath the Remains was their best thrash effort.

I'm not a huge fan of crossover, some of its ok. Crossover i've been listening to lately is Cryptic Slaughter.

RCA 06-24-2005 09:46 PM

Which Sabbat songs would you like to see available for download in the HoT?

Terrorzone 06-24-2005 10:24 PM

I think I for an Eye and For Those Who Died would be wise choices.

Mr Dark Soul 06-24-2005 10:30 PM

Anybody here listen to Morbid Saint? They're one of the most awesome brutal thrash bands I have ever heard.

Terrorzone 06-24-2005 10:38 PM

Oh most definitly, if you don't already have their cd Spectrum of Death here it is. Courtesy of Face In the Sky. http[URL=http://http://www.pcmdusa.com/ms/index.html#mp3s

haha, yea, i was recently up in in Austin for a crust punk festival going on, and one one of the days i went with their bassist, sinc ei was staying with him that weekend, to their practice. they make a good sound track to the movie 28 Days Later

Cryptic Slaughter are amazing. it's funny how so many of the crossover revival bands rip-off their logo. Municipal Waste has a similar logo, and Cross Examination have almost an identical logo. heh

Yeah, i got that awhile back. I downloaded the Destruction System EP as well. The production is pretty bad, but it was still a good EP.

Terrorzone 06-24-2005 10:47 PM

I've heard a little off it, wasn't as good as SoD.

RavenousMetalist87 06-24-2005 10:49 PM

Terrorzone 06-24-2005 11:02 PM
