That's what I'm hoping for... I'm noticing that a lot of the parts on this are really cheesy. idk
EDIT: haha tyler, you didn't get mentioned in the back :p |
cheesy? damn...
|
haha tyler, you didn't get mentioned in the back
I'm not beat up about it, the only people who did were label folk, girlfriends, family, posses. I don't know how I ended up in Kezia tbh And of course it's cheesy. It's always been that way. And no imagery? Dude read the lyrics as you listen to it. |
I always get that big fat lizard looking thing in Star Wars stuck in my head during Bonemarrow...him sitting down eating a piece of chicken....
|
Jabba?
|
ya him
|
haha jabba
|
wait a second...
weren't all preorders supposed to come with a poster or something? i didn't get one :upset: |
I think if you got it from UO you got all of that.
Mine came with a shirt!!11!!111 |
wait a second...
weren't all preorders supposed to come with a poster or something? i didn't get one :upset:
I think that was just if you bought any of the special packages or something? I was cheap and just bought the CD, and I didn't get any poster. Wouldn't have wanted one though... |
I'd like instrumental one too please ;-;
deathblitzx@hotmail.com
Anyone? :( |
You know, I'm starting to really get irritated because I still have yet to receive my preorder and it was supposed to be shipped like a week ago. Kinda pissed...
|
Thanks Cocaine, its pretty cool, I expect to hear the vocals at parts
|

Who did you pre-order it from, UO? I pre-ordered it from them like 2 weeks before it came out and I still haven't received mine yet. Kinda sucks. :/ |
Not wanting to over spin this record, or possibly to give it a few less spins a week; I'm looking for something to try and take my attention away for what Fortress has done to me. I think that Fortress has cause a spark in 'fantasy metal'. I think I'm looking for something like Dream Quest but with better vocals if it exists--any recommendations? Kezia was possessive, so is this record; Kezia brought me to explore quite a bit heaver music that i might have not listened to years and years ago. I'm hoping now that this record can do something along the lines of the same effect, please suggest/help.

3 inches of blood tbqfh
i was blasting some kezia in the car today ****ing awesome. got some funny looks when i rolled up to the beach with it blasting from my car  they loved it though they are just too stupid to realise it |
Capricious have you heard Dream Quest's "Centralia", or just Release? Just wondering; it's always great to see 'em get more noticed.
3 Inches of Blood is great, but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for. Also, it's weird to see Protest get lumped in with fantasy metal, given that all the lyrics on the album are based in reality. |
I think it's the "be grateful you die by Irish steel" feel that makes it fantasy
|
fantasy metal to me is with the lyrics all pertaining to stuff not real, PTH's lyrics all have to do with stuff that actually happened like tyler said
|
Meh, I think it would be a stretch to invent Historic Metal. Fantasy because it's about things irrelevant to today but you can see like Lord of the Rings style themes
oh I don't know |
haha LOTR in PTH music...thats a funny thought, but i get what you're saying
|
I don't.
And I didn't realize "Die By Irish Steel" was fantasy. Especially given that the song is about the Celtic Goddess "Flidais". Mythology Metal. |
mythology metal, new sub-genre (like we need any more....)
|
Tyler, I've only heard what Dream Quest put up on their myspace; so mostly The Release. Never pursued the band beyond that.
Not wanting to off rail this thread with semantics the spark i was referring to is that Fortress has some ideas within that got me thinking if another band expanded on them and sounded aggressive as Protest does i might be able to get into this theoretical band. If theres a lack of suggestions I'll probably give Centralia a try. I've been spoiled lately by finding bands with enjoyable vocalists, so its just being selective. Not that he's a turnoff its as you said in your review they're simplistic. |
Hmmmm, I think Fortress has finally hit me, all the songs are getting stuck in my head at the same time and I'm appreciating it more and more. I finally see why people like Bone Marrow so much, but I still don't think it's as incredible as people have hyped it up to be. 'The Royalty MUST DIE' part is amazing.
|
the royalty must die like common beggars and petty theives...
so you like that song now? |
I like it, but it's still not as 'OMG AMAZING' as everyone says it is.
|
The melodic "royalty must die" part is my favourite on the whole album, where the bass does that "1-2-1-2" sort of tapping, the constant thud. Where it's like, do do do do do do do do dodododododododododo...I guess saying the part from 2:13 to 2:37 would be easier. But it's made better by the harsh part before it.
I just love, after listening to the instrumental version, all the trust the band has for Rody, and all the trust he has for them. Given that the album was essentially written instrumentally, with his vocals being the final addition, and given that Rody didn't even write the lyrics, it's really outstanding to note how well he creates unique and interesting vocal melodies. And it's outstanding to note that Arif wrote the lyrics, but Rody is able to take certain liberties to make them work in context of the actual music; this is why they don't match verbatim to the booklet |
i was wondering about that, he jumps around a little bit. arifs lyrics are awesome
|
That post wins...
@tyler I love the liberties that Rody takes with the lyrics, especially when he repeats lines for added effect. |
I guess the trust is natural when you've been playing together for over a decade. Happy Go Lucky started when they were around 14 I believe (the oldest pictures I've seen were ones of Rody with red spikey hair, so he had to have been 13 or 14). But even before that, I believe there was actually another Arif-less project featuring most of 'em, but I can't be sure.
Rody seems like he's taking this acoustic thing a little further now. He should really put up an album, but not just Chris Wynne songs obviously. He should bring back his old gems; the ones about white kids saying the n-word especially. |
lol he should
|
does anyone know who christopher wayne is?
|
nope.
|
Christopher WYNNE is Rody's friend.
|
does he play music as well?
and you never answered me, what does michael cera's mom do? |
He may "play music" but he's not in a band as far as I know. He's just a friend of Rody's, I really don't know much about him. I dont remember ever having met him.
Check your rep |
