I have heard many different stories, but is Kill 'em All really a live album? Sure the quality sucks, but their is no evidence of a croud what so ever. Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) starts off with, most likely Cliff Burton, saying "Bass Solo, Take One." That really makes it sound like it was produced in a studio...doesn't it?
No, it says on the album inlay "Recorded and Mixed at Music America" and unless that'a a live venue, it's not likely it's live. I always thought it was Lars saying the Bass Solo bit.....don't know why. |
ok...This Official Metallica thread, is a good idea. But is there THAT much to talk about that it can go on for THIS long?
|
ok...This Official Metallica thread, is a good idea. But is there THAT much to talk about that it can go on for THIS long?
yes, otherwise we'd see about 5 metallica threads a week. in fact, there still are a few new ones from time to time, as some people can't seem to see the official metallica thread, of the other threads have a great enough purpose to not be in this one as whatever the threadstarter is asking/stating would get overlooked quite easily |
do you want bass or guitar?
Guitar tab |
lol sacrifice loves saying case closed doesnt he.
Anyway you say metallica didnt put in 100%. Have you seen interviews with them? They put their heart and soul into that record. There was a lot of ****ed up **** going on when they made it, james off to rehab, new bassist, in-fighting and that is evident in the songs. They wanted to do something different, no matter what small minded f*cks like you thought. It wasnt up to par but f*ck, the last album they wrote was back in like 1994/5 (reload was largely written around the time of load, it was originally supposed to be a double cd release). Thats a long time out of the studio. This album was necessary, if nothing else it has resulted in metallica being stronger than ever live and as a band, rob fits in so well its not funny. Their next album well be brilliant, i guarrantee it.
To answer, I love saying case closed. It's a good way to end an argument. That, and I love hitting things with a hammer. Second, I'm not against a band trying new things, but sometimes those new things don't sound good at all. Besides, they took 6 months in the studio, compared to the usual year. Sounds like rushing to me. Case closed, dammit! :smash: |
six months is about right if your not doing a studio album. Besides, st anger was all jams until they pieced it together in pro tools and wrote lyrics for it. But i will say that it was rushed.
|
IMO st anger was ok. not good
i havent actually listened to it since the first day i bought it though. cant get into it |
If you'd like a more in depth opinion on it, go to www.epinions.com, search for St. Anger, then look for my review of the album. It will be under the name sacrifice93. Tell me what ya think about it.
|
Someone has to set fire to Lars' snare drum. That's just the beginning of my troubles with St. Anger.
|
What do you guys think is Kirk's best guitar solo?
I would say either Dyer's Eve or Phantom Lord. |
dyers eve i say
|
The Thing That Should Not Be solo has some crazy wah in it, but I'd say Dyer's Eve
|
i was at the sydney show on 21st and bdo 23rd and i must say it was ****ing awesome. For their solo show i managed to get about 5 metres from kirk, rob and james at different times in the show, the only dissappointment was i didnt get a guitar pick :(. I had like 10 go over my head, was so spewing. I even lost my voice at one point, screamed MUTHERF*CKER DIE a bit too hard during creeping death. Awesome show, anyone who doubts they are the best band in the world go see them live, they put every other band to shame. Perfect sound, great atmosphere, insane crowd...what more could you ask for.
I bet the singer from the strokes regretted pissing off the tallica fans by singing some of last caress, all you could hear toward the end of the set was the wizard of oz thing from frayed ends. |

Sounds like a cliche review of st anger to me. You say it sucks balls. Yet you give no reasons other than "its repetitive". Why is it repetitive? You dont mention how that it is caused by the subtraction of lead work from the traditional dynamic of the songs. This song is crap, that song is crap. You sound like every other knob who knows nothing about music but has jumped on the hate st anger bandwagon because it is trendy. |
does anyone know if 'tallica are coming to the north of england anytime?
|
I like:
Hero of the day. Wolf and a man. Not that I havent heard a lot more songs, but thats my favorites. |
this thread should just die..too much metallica, metallica is already dead.
Do you want to see 5, 6, 7 Metallica threads a ****ing day? no, I didn't think so. This thread is a good idea......it keeps people from making loads of Metallica threads that I'm sure you'd hate to see. So keep your trap shut. |

I want to know what kind of ****head comes into a thread specifically designed for Metallica, and then says they suck, Idiot should know that he's gonna get insulted. Stupid ****head. |
Everything has been said really.
|
who agrees the first solo in trapped under ice is amazing?
|
i like this solo. but i don't really like the song. trapped under ice is just something like it's not finished. i don't know.
i like ride the lightening, creeping death, fade to black and fight fire with fire from this album . but my favourite intro solo is no remorse. it just comes so sharp and insane ! wow ! |
who here thinks Bob Rock could just die???
I do Please lock him in so that he is at least 10000km from a studio with metallica |
i read up to page 34 but then i decided to just ask ... anyone know any tour dates for metallica and if they are goin on tour thanx
|
bob rock did black and that was awesome (i dont care if it was mainstream, that was just a tight alround good album), i liked load and reload too, but i reckon st anger would never have happened if they released them as a double cd set in 1994 as they originally planned.

i just bought s&m, i thought it was really well done, orchestra was amazing, any other metallica dvds as good or better out there?
|
i've heard binge and purge: live $hit is good, i just bought Cunning Stunts, which came out before reload. they didn't even have the lyrics to fuel done yet. i thought it was pretty good.
|
Hey Dudes what do you lot reckon is the easiest 'Tallica songs to drum to?
I find "For Whom the bell tolls" Particularly easy - what about you lot? Sorry if this question has been asked many times btw but i couldn't be assed to read all of the threads. :D \m/ >< \m/ |
I find that 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' is the easiest on guitar besides the songs on St. Anger.
