Paul McCartney the most talented in all area's of music, he wrote film music with george martin and plays a range of instruments and knows his theory,
George harrison was the best guitarest and i'd rate in as about the 3rd best guitarest in history.
Paul McCartney has the most succsessfull solo Coureer,
John Lennon's would of been the best out of everyones but... it was cut short :(
George harrison was in the cooles band after the beatles (travelling wilbury's)
and Ringo was in Thommas the Tank Engine,... did he start it?

I was watching the beatles anthology... best thing i have ever seen Ringo, George and Paul sitting round a table talking bout the beatle days...... pity john wasnt there :(

But Imagine john lennon alive now, he'd get right behind everything, the Tsunami etc and i thnk he would of written loads more and better songs.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 11:57 AM
Yeah, Harrison was awesome. Badmoon, I'm not sure if I agree with "most talented." Most talented musician? Yeah, I'll definitely go with that. But most talented songwriter? Tough to say. Considering that Lennon and McCartney wrote so much material for The Beatles, its understandable that they would burn out somewhat after The Beatles broke up. However, Lennon + McCartney > Harrison at songwriting. By a lot.
Well, musician is what I actually meant. :)
Paul McCartney the most talented in all area's of music
Paul McCartney still admits that he can not read sheet music. While George is greatly skilled at about 46 instruments.

DeusExMachina 01-18-2005 12:30 PM
what? "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"> Lennon + McCartney songs
Come Together + Help + In My Life + Let it Be + Hard Day's Night + Hey Jude + Penny Lane + Strawberry Fields Forever + I Am The Walrus + All You Need is Love + Hello, Goodbye + Eleanor Rigby + Here, There and Everywhere + I'm Only Sleeping + For No One + A Day in the Life + Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds + She's Leaving Home + Back in the USSR + Blackbird + Happiness is a Warm Gun + Julia > George Harrison.

Don't get me wrong, I love George, he's unbelievably talented, but for every one amazing song he wrote, Paul and John wrote ten.

BludgeonySteve 01-18-2005 01:14 PM

While My guitar gently weeps is a very good song but Hey Jude, I am The Walrus, Back In The USSR, All You Need Is Love, Let it Be and a bunch of other songs are much better.

+ Jeff Healey's version is better.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 01:22 PM

No it isn't.

DeusExMachina 01-18-2005 02:50 PM

I haven't heard the Jeff Healey version. Someone want to send it to me? Oh, and on a completely different subject/band, who wants to send me some Doors CD's? Anybody? I have lots to trade...

Broken Arrow 01-18-2005 03:15 PM

I agree with all of those except All You Need is Love it isn't as Good.

Deus I have it but my AIM has problems with file transfers   :upset:

DeusExMachina 01-18-2005 03:58 PM

Hmm.. ****. Oh well. Anyone else have it?

Walrus Gumboot 01-18-2005 05:28 PM

Deus, I have Morrison Hotel and The 1985 Greatest Hits if you want The Doors- IM>cowspots6666

I think their Let It Be era hair was the best :D

And as far as the timeless "best solo career" argument goes, I think:

John: had some **** good stuff and loads and loads of crap
Paul:Good, nice sound, but none of it ever got to me like george/john's stuff
George: all I have is All Things Must Pass which is excellent, I can't say I know much about his solo career, but I like what I know
Ringo: heh heh. I think my parent's saw his all-star band in '94 or so

/loves the Doors and has all six albums

TerryThorne 01-18-2005 06:01 PM

Im somewhat new to the beatle's and I've been wondering, what album is Hey Jude on? or was it released solely as a single. And where do you get the fast Revolution 1?

Johnny B. Good 01-18-2005 07:10 PM

Hey Jude is a single but it's on 1

Hey Jude was released as a double single(oxymoron) with the fast Revolution.

TerryThorne 01-18-2005 07:19 PM

Do they still sell the single?

Woodstock 01-18-2005 07:21 PM

You might be able to find it at an old record store. I've seen it before.

DeusExMachina 01-18-2005 09:22 PM

Were they ever released on CD? The fast version of Revolution 1 and Hey Jude, (excluding One) that is.

Woodstock 01-18-2005 09:23 PM

It's on the Blue album, the greatest hits 68-70 I believe.

DeusExMachina 01-18-2005 09:43 PM

Dag. Thanks.

Sgt._Joker 01-18-2005 10:07 PM

u can get them both on the Beatles 1967-1970 + more fantastic songs from that period and alot of George Harrison songs, it was my 2nd cd by the beatles and completely got me hooked

.:HIM:. 01-18-2005 10:11 PM

I like Yellow Submarine the best personally

led zeppelin139 01-18-2005 10:46 PM

man the beattles rock, they have real tallent like in the song blackbird (yes i learned how to play it finally) i just dont think that when people flip on distortion and start using power cords 24-7 it should be called good, but dont get me wrong, my favorite bands include led zeppelin, black sabbith, ac/dc metallic, ext plus the beattles, the police, and lots of other good bands.

Sgt._Joker 01-19-2005 01:36 AM

yer i think we should go back to our roots, The Beatles, the 60's.
grunge and punk rock is nothing to be proud of and is "Musak to my ears", we need more bands like Oasis, who r bringing back the 60's raw rock, its fantastic, btw if u wanna talk oasis go to my new Oasis thread

DeusExMachina 01-19-2005 10:10 AM

Hey now people, lets not judge. All music has its merits. And, its not like The Beatles didn't do the grungy power chord thing themselves. Helter Skelter, anyone? It's all good stuff, lets have this be a friendly pro-Beatles thread, not an anti-New music thread.

Sgt._Joker 01-19-2005 07:12 PM

hah, i'm sorry about the anti new music thing, it just pisses me off how bands like the beatles, or stones, or the who, or like eric clapton tend to b out numbered by power cord stumming idiotic punk bands,

Sure the beatles did a few songs consisting of power cords, but power chords are all bands today do (mostly :( ) u get the occasional gem like oasis, but bands like them get out numbered by bands like blink 182

any back to the beatles,

What sort of things are on the Beatles Anthology dvd, i am heavily considering buying it but i dont want any media trash that blows everythign out of preportion... are there interviews of the beatles? are they good interviews? (ones without some idiot from the media putting words into paul mccartney;s mouth or something)

SOS420 01-19-2005 09:53 PM

i like blink 182, infact they remind me of early beatle stuff, easy to listen to, up beat, usally about girls or broken heart stuff.....
yeh they are similar just with a different sound

Sgt._Joker 01-19-2005 11:20 PM

mmmm.

whats on the beatles anthology dvd box set?

Seafroggys 01-20-2005 12:17 AM

A helluva different sound if I might add.

I see no similarities myself. Everybody writes stuff about girls and love and stuff (except maybe Tull)

Walrus Gumboot 01-20-2005 12:09 PM

I think eras of songs with lyrics not written about teeny-bob love stuff signify the advancement of music. The more complicated the lyrics, the better the rock music is. (IN GENERAL.) We have come full circle now, since the majority of songs on the charts today are written about the same stuff as 50's/early 60's (early Beatles even). Somewhat shallow.

Woodstock 01-20-2005 12:14 PM
mmmm.

Everything you'd ever need to know about the Beatles. That's about it.

Six Foot Revolver 01-20-2005 12:57 PM

My step-dads got that so I will have to watch it sometime

Woodstock 01-20-2005 01:28 PM

Even if you're not a fan of the Beatles, you'll love it.

DeusExMachina 01-20-2005 01:54 PM

I should get the DVD. I've heard so many good things about it.

SOS420 01-20-2005 06:38 PM

AC/DC doesnt write about girls, or love, unless they are fuc.king the girl or she has an STD or something like that

Seafroggys 01-20-2005 07:56 PM
AC/DC doesnt write about girls, or love, unless they are fuc.king the girl or she has an STD or something like that
Checking my Back in Black album.....

What do you do for money honey?
You shook me all night long?
Let me put my love into you?

And would you honestly think bands would write about girls without even one thought of screwing them? I highly doubt it.

Anyway, back onto the Beatles......

I didn't really care for Anthology 1.. (its the only thing I own).....well, Free as a Bird is a kick *** song, and that's about it.

BludgeonySteve 01-20-2005 09:00 PM

Ac/dc sure as hell does write about girls. Not love though.

Woodstock 01-20-2005 09:01 PM

Free Bird is actually a very good song. Very relaxing.

BludgeonySteve 01-20-2005 11:01 PM

Exept for the solo. Maybe if it lasted a minute the song would be better.

clown_phobia 01-20-2005 11:24 PM
Exept for the solo. Maybe if it lasted a minute the song would be better.
how long does it last for?

Woodstock 01-21-2005 08:57 AM

You should never expect a long solo from a Beatles song.
