mine are in Bottom when Henry Rollins is saying that stuff thats just great to me for some reason
And also in Pus.hit when he says "I'd trade it all for just a little, peice of mind" thats just great also, and also the end of Lateralus ,and the one part in the Grudge mentioned earlier and the last part, the part in Aenima where hes saying "f.uck Ron L. Hubbard, and f.uck all his clones, **** all these gun-toting hip gangster wannabes" ect. haha i cant pick just one sorry |
i think the god in the brain isn't a sarcastic/cynical comment against religion, but follows with the themes of lateralus: namely the idea of evolution and progression.
You are god, you are beautiful, you can change and you can choose....this is not a package deal from another universe/higher being - -- we can choose to step forward and through our own shadows. I know its an aenima reference, but seemed to fit off the top of my head... |
APC Q: Sorry to throw this is the pit but out of interest: Did Paz leave the band because of Billy? every picture i see that has the two of them in it shes hanging off him and vice versa, was something going down to make her leave?

I'm pretty sure the members who left APC did so because they didn't like the long time inbetween albums. |
Favorite Tool Moments:
Intolerance - The outro, the last minute or so. Aenima - Outro drum solo Third Eye - Second guitar solo The Grudge - Outro drum solo. This is #1 in my book Schism - Outro Parabola - Guitar solo Reflection - After the long instrumental part, where they go into the "So crucify the ego..." part...Maynard sings pretty slowly, drawing out the words. Chills. And, uh, whoever thinks Disposition has acoustic guitar in it, is sadly mistaken :) |
favorite tool moments
hmm...this is a hard one...soo much to choose from
i like the chorus in undertow "its half as high as heaven, half as clear as reason..." the guitar is uplifted after each line... and at like 1:55 there's one guitar note that will stick in my head forever. and the ending of the song "i'm back down, i'm in the undertow..." progresses to Upohria. i had a strange but absolute connection to that song while stuck in my s**thole hometown trippin on mushies...love that song. and Flood, its like 2 songs in one...truly a bada$$ song i'll stop now before this post gets really long...there's just too dam much |
i would have to say my favorite Tool moments are the bass intrelude in The Grudge, the intro to 46&2, the chorus to 46&2, the intro to the live Pushi+, the intro and verse to Sober, so many more, you cant really have just one though
also, its kind of hard to pick Tool moments when your listening to Public Enemy... |

And, uh, whoever thinks Disposition has acoustic guitar in it, is sadly mistaken :)
I think that Maynards Dick has acoustic guitar in, but thats is indeed the only one that does. My favourite tool song moments. Pu**** - The 3 notes before Adam's crazy hammer on/pull off pinch harmonic solo bit. Just those three give me goosebumps Stinkfist - The main riff, though that is partly because its so fun to play over and over. And of course - 4 degrees - and THAT riff :D |

And, uh, whoever thinks Disposition has acoustic guitar in it, is sadly mistaken :)
actually it does, in the left channel, if you listen to it really closely...it was also in a tab...and if its not an acoustic, then it just sounds like one also, its not like a main strumming acoustic line, its very brief, its like 2 hammers of individual notes (under exaggeration), nothing fancy |
All tool songs are good, intro, outro whatever they are all good.

thats the best thing ive read all day |
good gracious, has this thread just ceased to be? well, to get the conversation rolling again, what do you suspect the new Tool album to be like? more like AEnima, or more like Lateralus part 2 or even AEneralus? isnt it hard to think of a song that doesnt even exist yet? crazy, ok, i hope that gets people talking again
(if everyone has been talking, and my computer is messed up, i apologize for this waste of time post) |
your computer is not messed up....i really dont know what their new cd will be like.. If you think about it all their cds are pretty different.. they go from the extremely hard Opiate, to Undertow which is has its hard moments and also some soft ones, then to AEnima which has many hard moments, but alot of soft ones, and then Lateralus which also has many hard moments, but alof of soft ones... I think their new CD will either be like Aenima and Lateralus and be hard and soft, or start becoming more soft? i dunno....................
|
danny carey is amazing, he can do single pedal triplets like no-one could ever dream of doing, cept him, cuz he can do them...huueeh
mmmmmm.....to have danny carey's legs...:D |
I was just watching Escape from LA and noticed Tool was in the soundtrack. The song was Sweat. Anyone know of any other movie soundtracks they have been in????
|
I think the new album will sound like this: æneralusundtopiate

Thats the only one to my knowledge. Did you notice it yourself or did DBJ/Stingray notice it on their 3,042424 watch of it? |
I think we should just hope they release a new bloody album first.
I am losing faith in this band very fast. :upset:
Go and listen to track 3 on Laterlaus then sit down like the rest of us. The delay is always worth it. Plus they are writing probably as we speak (then again, knowing their working schedule, they're probably slacking now, if I know the time delay in America) |
Personally i think it would tend towards lateralus in some ways, but every album has progressed and changed in sound so its hard to say. As long as they release it and they dont do a st.anger job ill be happy
|
Hey as long as it isnt rushed..
|
Tool is great. "Sober" is one of my favorite albums.
|
Tool is great. "Sober" is one of my favorite albums.
Undertow? |
Hey as long as it isnt rushed..
Rushed? They are lazy man. Opiate came out in 92 and they have 4 albums. Opeths morningrise came out in 95 and they have 7. And the quality is brilliant. |
yeh i know, but im just saying its better to wait, rather have them rush it if you know what i mean.
|

But Opeth haven't had major legal disputes, and members taking part in large scale side projects. That accounts for a good few years of the delays. Plus if you collectively put together all the albums the band has been involved in, there is a bit more than 7 there |
^^^
I know what you guys are saying, im just to impatient i guess. I jst with maynard would piss off from apc for a while. |
^^^
I know what you guys are saying, im just to impatient i guess. I jst with maynard would piss off from apc for a while.
Well thankfully, APC touring has ceased now, and MJK is back writing with the band. And its unconfirmed that they have already completed at least 3 songs |
cool, any idea on their names, how they sound and what 'theme' this album shall take
|
Names and theme are a mystery, but sound is supposedly heavier than previous albums (remebering the Meshuggah influence), and Danny had stated in a conversation after a writing period that he had 'just been involved in the greatest piece of music he had ever been involved with in his career'
|
Whoa @ AJD's avatar. Dragonballage :smoke:
|
Yeah, im cool :D
|
The guys in Tool are far from Lazy. They all are involved in so many aspects of life and different projects that the Tool gig just isnt thier personal priority. They are in the posisition to choose to make Tool thier main focus when they want to and when they do focus on Tool the music it is always un-matched.
Quality over quantity.......... |
I wish Maynard would piss off from APC too, they do nothing for me.
I'm interested to hear this new album, especially with the whole meshuggah influence. |
Yea, APC was cool at first now its just old. Everyone should EMAIL Tools site and tell Maynard to quit ****in around with APC. Its almost like Maynard wants to be a rockstar all of a sudden and can't be the RockStar in Tool because of the way the guys in Tool think and react to that kind of attitude.
|
how the hell can you not like apc, i mean i personally like tool more but apc songs are so well put together. It also is another way just to listen to maynards great voice and lyrics.
|
I still can't believe that the new album will be inspired by meshuggah(drumming), tomas haake, I just love the man
and I love tool tto good to be true :D |
Can someone please explain to me what Meshuggah drumming is like?
and will their drumming be the only influence on Tool's music? |
can u guys explain how messhuggah sounds if its a band and recomment any songs? is it a band and how are they like?
|
Meshuggah are a band, and a very brutal one at that. They toured with tool during the last tour. If you saw the Osbournes episode where Jack drowned out the neighbours with loud music, it was Meshuggah he played.
I would say consult Zakath about them (he is their biggest fan on here), but hes been perm banned by the looks of things. ill root around for some audio |
