So I saw SCI last night, great show. The guy that opened, Chris Berry, was alright, he played like Latin R'n'B or something. He did have hot backup singers/dancers though, and in the secone set they came out and danced with Michael Kang and Billy Nershi, which was of course very funny. Also, I picked up a 3 Disc thing of the '05 BSC.

Highlights were the opener Ms. Brown's > Chameleon > Ms. Brown's and the 2nd Encore Black Clouds.

Broken Arrow 10-15-2005 05:02 PM

Chameleon as in Herbie Hancock's version?

Daniel! 10-15-2005 05:04 PM
Chameleon as in Herbie Hancock's version?
PinkFreud 10-15-2005 05:12 PM

i love that song.

Broken Arrow 10-15-2005 06:01 PM

Yeah, what a mad bassline.

JPJ get back to me on this.

pegwedge 10-15-2005 06:38 PM

The horns from Ozomatli played Ring of Fire with SCI when I saw them.

Why can't you go? I might be seeing them on the December 2nd.

Broken Arrow 10-16-2005 06:29 PM

Its a Thursday night and the gig is 2+ hours form me.

Walrus Gumboot 10-16-2005 07:29 PM

I think I might be playing this so called "Chameleon" in Jazz band. The bassline is even sicker when played by a trombone :D

Everytime we play it the conductor says "ok, that was good, now lets play it again, except raunchier this time"

Broken Arrow 10-17-2005 02:57 PM

I know it was a teacher who first suggested to Greyspoke Variety to cover it, and it was a huge success

jpj 10-19-2005 01:39 PM

Broken Arrow 10-19-2005 02:29 PM

Greyspoke Variety

Greyspoke Variety Live at the Pinnacle's second set is now up on Archive.org, I highly recommend that you give it a listen, if you've never heard them play before simply listen to the first two songs of that set and you'll be hooked. Also, I should have a concert up from July that I haven't posted on here on YSI, and that should be up in a week's time. Not the greatest recording, but it does include the March of the Panda's which hasn't been on any other recordings.

KMidura 10-25-2005 08:08 PM

Newest Greyspoke show has been uploaded, and now just has to be approved by archive, should be downloadable at the latest by tommorow night, please give it a listen, and you shall not be disappointed.

KMidura 11-02-2005 10:52 AM

Hot Buttered Rum String Band is out here Saturday, anyone seen them, I've heard of them, but never actually heard their stuff. How do they compare with Yonder? Anyway, any insight would be nice, thanks.

Broken Arrow 11-02-2005 03:06 PM

Haven't heard of them. ^ Triple Post.

GypsyTrane 11-03-2005 12:08 AM

jpj 11-17-2005 07:37 PM

What's everyone's opinion on Bastardos!? I'm listening to "She and I" right now and it sounds more like Chicago than Blues Traveler. Kinda freakin' me out...

It's certainly different.

Attention everyone: If you have bought or plan on buying Trey Anastasio's Shine, do not copy it onto your computer. It contains that crazy spyware that Sony brilliantly put into their cd's. Just thought I'd let you know.

Jam2Me 11-17-2005 08:58 PM

I'm seeing Trey this Saturday. So many people from my school are going I'm shocked. I know people going just to hang out in the parking lot. It'll be a pretty solid show, hopefully.

insult masta 11-17-2005 10:10 PM

Has anybody else seen the DMB live in Central Park? I thought the "Cortez the Killer" cover with Warren Haynes from Govt Mule was excellent! Anybody else think so?

I almost bought that yesterday, but I saw this big sticker on the back talking about illegal reproduction or something and it freaked me out.

But I want to know why no one like the Consumer Protection Agency has filed suit against Sony for basically invading their customer's privacy.

wanton 11-18-2005 06:47 PM

Speaking of Trey, here is his performance on the Conan O'Brian Show.
