Let's Chop Cats! 08-23-2004 01:15 PM

There really isn't any hardcore on TV. I suppose the closest you come is the bad metalcore they play on like Fuse.

You just learn about bands from friends and shows mainly. Or atleast thats me.

smokersdieyounger 08-23-2004 01:22 PM

alot names like these come about cos a band is punk but doesnt want to be called that or cos the band is hardcore but wont be accepted in the scene (beastie boys), so they make thier own name and thier own 'genre' amd 'scene'

NewKindofArmy03 08-23-2004 01:31 PM

about the tv thing, hatebreed is on headbanger's ball and jamey jasta is the host of it.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 08-23-2004 02:25 PM

What time is that on?

Music by Spanky 08-23-2004 02:27 PM
The line between hardcore and metalcore is pretty blurry in some points.

Terror could go either way.
Cast Aside could go either way.
Hatebreed is metalcore but you could say they are very heavily influenced by hardcore.

etc....
I think they sound the same
(sorry but i do)

NewKindofArmy03 08-23-2004 04:22 PM
What time is that on?
saturday's on mtv2 from 10-12 pm eastern time.

xincisionsx 08-23-2004 06:54 PM

So I e-mailed Casey Jones about trying to play around here, that would be ****ing amazing.

NewKindofArmy03 08-23-2004 06:56 PM

where do you live? i heard they might be doing a short east coast tour sometime soon. it's hard to book them i guess since they're not a full-time band even though they should be.

shane italian 08-23-2004 06:57 PM
So I e-mailed Casey Jones about trying to play around here, that would be ****ing amazing.
They are doing a California tour :D

xincisionsx 08-23-2004 06:58 PM

Greensboro, NC. Wow, west coast is really lucky

xincisionsx 08-23-2004 07:30 PM

We've also had Comeback Kid, Bane, we're getting Converge and BTBAM on sept 28th, and this is just in Greensboro.

P.S. Tommy Rogers' parents are cool people.
I think they sound the same

er...that doesn't mean that its right. You obviously don't listen to alot of either genre..OR probably dont know what hardcore is. Just because you think things are the same doesnt change the fact that really, metalcore is basically this:

take the agressiveness of hardcore, and the lyrics of metal. Take the guitar riffs of metal and the vocals of metal, as well as the more indirect, artsy metal lyrical content and you have somthing totally different from hardcore.

metalcore has very complex guitar, hardcore doesnt, althought that doesn't mean there are no solos.
metalcore breakdowns are CHUG CHUG CHUG metally breakdowns, while hardcore breakdowns are usually a slower repeated main riff, or somthing thats just slower..not CHUG CHUG.
and also metal usually detunes while hardcore usually sticks to standard, or at the most extreme drops to d.

etc..etc..
With Until the End, Donnybrook AND The Warriors nukka *dances*

Oh and Evergreen Terrace.
3 shows I won't miss for j'ack ****: Martyr AD/Dead To Fall
Madball/h20/North Side Kings
Casey Jones/ET/Until The End/Donnybrook

Snappppp

Oh and if I think I'm gonna goto Terror/BDM/Unearth despite the back to back action with Casey Jones.

BuddyBigsby 08-24-2004 01:12 AM

I'm still undecided on Unearth. I'm going to wait until the last minute to decide because of money, not knowing if I have to work, having like a show every night that week, and not wanting to deal with the crappy kids at that show. The venue it's at is pretty cool though. It's the biggest of the 3 around here (Showcase and Chain being the others) but the sound is great.

Cause I heard Terror got banned.

BuddyBigsby 08-24-2004 01:20 AM

Yeah it is at the Glasshouse... did Terror get banned for the fight at the SOIA show or something?

shane italian 08-24-2004 01:26 AM

Yeah, them and Donnybrook were banned.

BuddyBigsby 08-24-2004 01:27 AM

Hahaha. Well they're still listed as being on the show on The Glasshouse's website, so hmm.

shane italian 08-24-2004 01:32 AM

Hmm, this is info I got from a friend out here...maybe he's wrong. I think he's getting it from people on boards.

niCkle fiSh 08-24-2004 04:11 AM

the bled arent metalcore

shane italian 08-24-2004 04:20 AM
the bled arent metalcore
They aren't a textbook definition of metalcore (100 Demons, Black My Heart) but they are thrown in there so we don't have such a huge spectrum of genres. You can do this with metalcore becuase when you look at it....it really doesn't stand for anything like hardcore and punk does.

niCkle fiSh 08-24-2004 04:31 AM

but the bled are hardcore, trust me, i am their #1 fan, all there releases, rare vinyls, been to countless live shows, know them personally, run their only fansite, so dont try to tell me they are not hardcore lol

shane italian 08-24-2004 04:32 AM
but the bled are hardcore, trust me, i am their #1 fan, all there releases, rare vinyls, been to countless live shows, know them personally, run their only fansite, so dont try to tell me they are not hardcore lol
Okay, how does you having all their releases and knowing them personally make them hardcore? Have you heard of Minor Threat or 7 Seconds. Listen to them then the Bled, then come back and tell me if you heard similarities.

Oh and I really like the Bled. I saw them a year or so ago and they were extremely fun, me and Mike talked about a deal with a website but it didn't go through.

niCkle fiSh 08-24-2004 04:38 AM

which mike

shane italian 08-24-2004 04:39 AM

Drummer.

niCkle fiSh 08-24-2004 04:41 AM

well theres only one mike now, unfortunately, celi left, shame, he fitted perfect

niCkle fiSh 08-24-2004 04:43 AM

oh yeh and also i dont like nickleback lol, my name is nick, someone nicknamed me it lol

shrxxm216 08-24-2004 08:20 AM

i think everyone should give up on fighting over whats hardcore becuz there are 2 different definitions for what bands actually make up the genre. one with such bands as remembering never or norma jean, and another with such bands as minor threat and comeback kid.

Sex Pistols 08-24-2004 08:28 AM

mushroomhead sucks

NewKindofArmy03 08-24-2004 09:01 AM

but remembering never and norma jean aren't hardcore, they're metalcore.

GipperIsInHell 08-24-2004 09:27 AM

I like Emocore, not Emo.

refuse_amen 08-24-2004 11:17 AM

Drop The Baby 08-24-2004 12:13 PM

refuse_amen 08-24-2004 12:15 PM

Shattered Realm is an awesome metalcore band.

Albert React, I've never heard these guys but I met them in a hotel after hellfest in '03. Cool dude gave me a free shirt.

Drop The Baby 08-24-2004 12:20 PM
maroon, age of ruin, the judas cradle, albert react, calico system, devil inside, shattered realm and a few others. i picked it up for free in all ages.
