The "Slint Reunite" thread reminded me how awesome Slint was... I'm now listening to "Spiderland".

Little Man being Erased 10-14-2004 06:30 AM

From a Basement on a Hill comes out here on the 18th and I am counting the hours. I've been listening to Elliott a lot lately and I can't wait. I've also been listening to Damien Rice a bit lately because I'm going to see him tomorrow night. Should be good times all around.

Tomahawk 10-14-2004 11:48 AM

Also, some dEUS, Fiery Furnaces, and Mission of Burma.

br3ad_man 10-15-2004 06:24 PM

I'm listening to Source Tags and Codes a lot

Tangy zizzle 10-15-2004 06:30 PM

^^ Good boy:)

I'm so unbelievably excited for new Queens disc you cannot imagine, I think I'm gonna pooh. I got the low down on everything and I'm hoping for big things...

Little Man being Erased 10-15-2004 08:41 PM

^^^ Yeah, I love Queens and I'm really looking forward to it too. I'm really interested to see what they are going to sound like on the new record without Nick. It should be good though.

Tapeworm 10-16-2004 12:53 AM

hah, potato. Nice.

I'm digging Sarah Blasko very heavily, she is absolutely brilliant.

I saw Damien Rice last night and it was the best gig i've ever seen. He is so crazy and funny and intense and serious and wonderful.

Welcome to 1998 my friend.

Luxor 10-16-2004 09:30 AM

I finally got "Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk". :)

Happymeal 10-16-2004 09:34 AM

I should've bought that back home where it's much, much cheaper(converted to $15 Canadian, and there's no tax). But I wasn't a big Buckley fan back then. Darn.

Luxor 10-16-2004 09:43 AM

Future Shop had it for $17.99, HMV had it for $27.99.

Happymeal 10-16-2004 09:48 AM

I looked at Best Buy, they have it for $29 or something:eek: But I guess I'll buy Live At Sin-e first..

Tomahawk 10-16-2004 09:51 AM

Definitely get Live at Sin-e first.

Luxor 10-16-2004 10:18 AM

What's so great about Live at Sin-e? It's like $30 for a live disk? I don't like live performance CD's, I like listening to the actual CD, or going to see them live. Live albums don't do much for me...

Mr_Popstar 10-16-2004 10:35 AM

I'm so into Guided by Voices right now! I just downloaded a bunch of their MP3's off of Matador and they are great!
Everywhere with Helicopter is an amazing song! So good and catchy!

Another band I'm into is Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Dark Wave is an amazing song! The video is extremely cool, too!
I'm listening to Source Tags and Codes a lot
That is an excellent Cd from an excellent band! I love the song Another Morning Stoner... It's fantastic!

Sorry for the posting one post after another!

I'm not a huge fan of live CDs either... but it's not a typical live CD. It's basically a covers CD, and if you've heard Hallelujah then you know how good he is at covers. In about 160 minutes of music, there's only 5 Buckley originals, but he totally owns every single song. Plus it's not like it was recorded at a big concert, it's from way before Grace was even released. It's a small crowd, and just Jeff with no band, it feels really personal.

Honestly, it's almost as good as Grace.

that's pavement's old lead singer and what he's done with the jicks is really a step in the right direction for him. Download, 1% of 1 and Phantasies...

guitar is hard 10-16-2004 02:01 PM

Lately bands like Explosions In The Sky, Cursive, Elliot Smith, Damien Rice, The Blood Brothers, Beethoven, Iron Maiden, and Yngwie Malmsteen have been tickling my fancy.

endymion 10-16-2004 02:35 PM

I just heard a song the other day by the band The Fading Collection which is a local band in seattle. www.thefadingcollection.com It's a very cool sound.

Happymeal 10-16-2004 07:37 PM

DL'ing some songs from Animal Collective's Sung Tongs

guitar is hard 10-16-2004 07:48 PM

I've downloaded some songs by Damien Rice after reading about him in this forum, and I am very impressed. Can anyone recommend some more songs of his to get? I currently have : Amie, Cold Water, and I Remember.

Badmoon 10-16-2004 10:22 PM

I just bought Smile. This album absolutly owns! Especially from "I'm in Great Shape/I Wanna Be Around/Workshop" on.

br3ad_man 10-17-2004 05:12 AM

I finally bought something from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It's only the best of though. I've been listening to that quite a bit. Tomorrow I should be buying Mezzanine.

Little Man being Erased 10-17-2004 05:31 AM

^^^ I'm really into Nick Cave at the moment too.

I'm gonna get Murder Ballads as soon as I can and then the new album(s).
