I quite like the Final Cut. It's not my favourite, but a good one nonetheless. As for lucid dreaming, well, I've had a few. In one, it was like I was a cross between Kenshi from Mortal Kombat and Belgarath from Eddings' books. I was insanely awesome. |

It would be more fun if my amp worked |
If your in to Pink Floyd there is 4 records you really need; Dark side, The wall, Wish you were here and The final cut. As for myself I'm a complete Roger Waters fan, he's my god, he's my religion. Everything after "The final cut" is for me, not the Pink Floyd that i recognize, Pink Floyd without Roger is a VERY good pop/rock band, but thats as far as it goes ( for me ofcourse ). So "The final cut" for me is really the final cut, the final astonishing track of the best band ever - The Pink Floyd :)
AH! My first post :) |
Good first post at least. Welcome to MX, and to Riva, it should be here in about 2 days!!

Also, pop-rock post Waters? And welcome to the forums! |
Sure did.
Nice nice. Do you like Amused To Death, then? Also, pop-rock post Waters? And welcome to the forums!
I know that wasnt to me but, I haven't heard much of Amused to Death, as I just bought it yesterday. I think I will like it though. I LOVE Syd's solo stuff.. |
If Waters is your icon, how can you not love Animals? I think those are some of us most effective lyrics and it has some of his best singing.
|
hehe :) Amused to death is my numer one Roger Waters solist album. Ofcourse Animals is high up to,very high up, every Pink Floyd album is high up, I just mentioned my favorite foure ( just Pink Floyd albums, not Roger solist albums. If I was to put in Roger Waters album the list woud be different :) ) . The pros and cons of hitch hiking is also a great great album :)
EDIT; On later thougt Animals shoud be on that list. :p |
Animals is the shiznit (sorry about ghetto euphemism, but it is). I should get The Final Cut. And Amused To Death is always staring me in the face at the CD store but I'm gonna wait a little bit more before I get it.
So I've learned all the guitar parts for shine on you crazy Diamond PT one!
I'm learning that now! Bit by bit of course. It's gonna be so effing cool when I'm done. |
Riva, ITS HERE ITS HERE ITS HERE ITS HERE!

I like the lyrics, and the concept. Apparently, some feel the concept is too obvious and ovebearing. On a realted note, have you ever read the book Animal Farm? |
I've read Animal Farm, it's basically the exact same idea as Animals.
If you don't mind me asking, what is?
He got A Nice Pair (PATGOD, SOS) on vinyl. |

It's a fun bit, but without anything behind it, just guitar, it's.. Meh. It's neat, but not that neat. |
i finally learnt the first solo for comfortably numb last night, I want to learn the second one this week.

Actually Animals concept is kind of opposite of Animal Farm's concept. Animal Farm was opposing communism, while Animals is a tirade against the capitalistic society. I believe that they're connected and that Animals was partly inspired by Animal Farm, but they're two different concepts.
Nice vinyl pickups:thumb: |

Nice vinyl pickups:thumb:
I heard the topics were realted, that's why asked. Waters sort of used the book for inspiration. Also, I think Animal Farm is supposed to be a politacal allegory about the Russian Revolution, too. |
I picked up Us and Them, The Symphonic Music of Pink Floyd, by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

How is it? |
I didn't like it one bit.

Well, that shows how much I got out of reading that book. :) |
I didn't like it one bit.
:o :amaze: I think it is stunning, some of it is a little bit different, and have longer intros etc, but overall, I couldn't have asked for more. |
This used cd store has that for like $4.99 just about every time I'm in there. I might pick it up next time, though I'm not sure how much I'd listen to it. It'd still be cool to have I guess.

I thought that album was incredible, personally. Although I wish there was more (any) cello spotlight. I enjoy The Final Cut, but I don't think it's amazing or anything. DSOTM, The Wall, WYWH, Meddle, TDB, and Animals are all far better. |

I enjoy it more than TDB, to be honest.
I picked up Us and Them, The Symphonic Music of Pink Floyd, by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
I quite like that, though they really did something weird with Time.
Riva, ITS HERE ITS HERE ITS HERE ITS HERE!
:cries: Congratulations are in order, I think. |
Also, I think Animal Farm is supposed to be a politacal allegory about the Russian Revolution, too.
Yes, the rise of Russian Communism. Spoilers The farm animals all work together to kill the farmer who was ruling, but in the end, the pigs ended up ruling. So, it basically just led to another leader-run government, not the people-run government ideals of communism. End Animals, on the other hand, is about capitalism, I believe. |
So it wasn't really against communism, rather that communism is an illusion, if you will. Hence it is similar to Animals, which deals somewhat with the evils of capitalism.
