Wow this threads moved about 1 post per week give or take !. My favourite tracks would be like light to the flies, from ember to inferno, gunshot, and Rain. Does anyone think that Matt will ditch the whole emo hair doo and ear stretchers, and more importantly get some singing lessons and stop autotuning his voice in the studio ? If he claims to be ditching the screaming on the next record (what he's actually good at, even if he does it wrong) I fail to see how they will be good live if he's always using his quite honestly horrible clean vocals...?

This is not to bash Trivium, i think they are awsome, especially at the age they are. Im only looking to see if people think they can improve like i think they can... :chug:

Britton 12-19-2005 12:00 PM

Why do people keep going back to his hair? what the hell does it matter?

Those are all great songs. He should get some singing lessons. Have you all heard paulo sing?

I actually like his "Clean Vocals" not that they are all that clean...but it sounds cool. I think I like just about every single song on ascendancy

Look how good Trivium is right now....can you imagine when they are n theri prime?

mr black 12-20-2005 12:15 AM

Yeah they will definatly improve, i just worry about Matt's voice, because live... it sucks... and if he's going to do 100 shows a year closing his throat to scream... we'll he's going to end up like his idol Jesse Leach (killswitch) who needed to leave because he destroyed his voice.

WTF

Matt has an amazing voice on clean and is great on his screams:eek:

To me he doesent look emo, he looks metal but i just hope he loses the earings and i dont mind if he grows his hair(suits him short)\m/

emo is so cool 12-21-2005 03:08 PM

KittensInMicrowaves 12-21-2005 03:42 PM

Trivium has a song on MySpace that isn't on either of their albums, its pretty good

Hourglass 12-28-2005 12:56 PM

Is anyone going to trivium in dublin, March third? were any of you at the Ireland concert when they did the HUGE mosh circle?

4yearpro? 12-28-2005 07:35 PM

i saw them live on the last day of their tour with cob and amon amarth
they played well live but im not a big fan of heafy's vocals

King_Of_Terrors 12-28-2005 07:37 PM

The guy at the guitar store today knows Trivium. They come in and watch his band play sometimes.

bigpossum93 12-28-2005 08:57 PM

who really cares about what matt looks like, hes a damn good guitarist, one of my fav vocalists, and an unbelievable song writer, the stuff he churned out on the roadrunner united album is amazing. true, he could destroy his voice but along with screaming he is a damn good singer. i went out and bought ascendency about a month after it hit stores, im on my 5th copy cause i listen to it so much the wear and tear destroy it, i have a copy next to every cd player in my house too. i just read an article on how much metallica was an influence on the band and now i always laugh during gunshot to the head of trepadation during the chant cause it reminds me of creeping death. WHATS YOUR FAVORITE SONG ON BOTH ALBUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

mr black 12-29-2005 03:01 AM

Sorry but he's not a good singer... an insane guitarist, a brilliant song writer and a good screamer (wether he does it wrong or not).

i've watched him on many live occasions and his clean vocals are bloody terrible. Don't be so ignorant in assuming him to be a good singer, with autotuning available to artists these days anyone can sound like freddie mercury.

My favourite song on the cd is 'Like light to the flies' or 'Rain', and like a lot of the clean chorus's 'like light to the flies' is sickeningly auto tuned. It's especially noticable in the original version or the song.

Sup trivium thread, i just boought asendancy, such a great album.

NP:Rain

Pull harder... (or AGTTHOT)
If I could collapse the masses

Rattlehead 01-01-2006 05:13 PM

Not bothered bout autotuning. sounds good on the studio songs.:thumb:

F**in insane guitarist and songwriter as has alredy been said

Drummer is fukkin insanely good

I dont know much about exactly how one should scream, but im sure if experts say hes fu*kin up his voice then i agree, he should rectify that.

I hate emo's with a fuk*in passion too, for the emo fuk*a who dissed metal. and i'm not keen on heafy's hair not that it's relevant to his crazily gr8 musique.

Going to see Trivvers at the Lemon Grove in Exeter in March as it sez on the back of my hoody:thumb:

mr black 01-01-2006 06:00 PM

^ Nice that should be awsome, hope they come to Australia at some point. Yeah Trav's a fairly good drummer isn't he, i heard he's only 19 or 20 which is scary because that guys got some talent. Although me and my drummer reckon he looks hilarious playing drums because his posture is just to ... good haha, can't have a straight back and play thrash beats :smash:

xxGumbyxx 01-01-2006 06:29 PM

I just saw this band called Silent Civilian at the Whiskey in Hollywood, CA. The lead singer looked exactly like a chunkier version of Matt Heafy. He even did some of the same facial expressions.

Britton 01-01-2006 10:39 PM

Wow a Matt Heafy impersonater...you all have everything in Cali huh?

I want my band to do a Trivium cover...but I'm not sure if I can handle Guitar
and Vocals...

anyone else tried?

mr black 01-02-2006 04:05 AM

Yeah i tried like light to the flies, my mind basically said wtf once i started trying to sing and do the verse riff, so hard to keep those 2 timings together, baffeles me how he does it.

Dying in your arm's would be really easy though, and if you have a good back up singer you'd both have a lot of fun with it :thumb:

Yah but dying in your arms would be kind of boring IMO

anyway, if anyone has ember inferno and would like to send it to me that would be great

email is dr_homely@hotmail.com

mr black 01-02-2006 07:23 AM

^ The easy stuff's the best to play live, people thing your godly coz you play stuff and jump around and what not :thumb:

benfan 01-02-2006 01:22 PM

My band play pull harder on the strings of your martyr and like light to the flies, the first time i played and sang/screamed pull harder i nearly fainted, you really need to concentrate on breathing, more than i realised

deathscreamingsheep 01-02-2006 02:28 PM

I found it hard to coordinate the muting on my first attempt at Light to Flies when doing vocals at the same time. But with practice it's fine. Luckily with the screaming you at least have very little to worry about going out of tune.

mr black 01-03-2006 04:43 AM

^ wow i feel so mediocre listening to you guys that can play like light to flies and scream it at the same time :chug:

Epicurus 01-03-2006 05:56 AM

haha mediocre.

Britton 01-03-2006 06:16 PM

Okay. My band wants soething hard and fast...so I was like Trivium! they were like no way. So I've been working some stuff so we can get up to that level.

Britton 01-05-2006 04:05 PM
