Nothing much. I leave for college tomorrow.
|
cool.
I'm stuck at work until the 4th, then I go on leave for three weeks. :) |
Yeah, I had to say bye for a while to my girlfriend of 9 months, but I refuse to write something sappy about it.
|
haha... ah, go on... you'd probably get loads of crits if nothing else. And it couldn't possibly mean you'd get more abuse from SD and Dfelon. :p
on the plus side, you now get to ogle college girls. |
Subtle isn't around, otherwise he'd of ripped apart that monstrousity that Love2Lust put up. Everyone is praising it without noting the awful word usage, syntax, poor development of mood, lack of insight, or decent rhyme.
|
I have to admit, I didn't think it was that bad, but I'll confess that the critique I had in mind wasn't going to be quite as positive as the other ones. The structure was the biggest bugbear for me. Still, he's doing his share of decent critting, so he's not all bad... it just looks like the n00bs have over-rated his song by some way.
I had wondered about Subtle, but I can never really tell, as I'm here for 4 days then away for 4 days. |
I was also wondering where the hell Subtle was...
And those mamoth-proportioned songs that have been up for quite a while... ugh... I hate it when a song goes around the bushes too much. Anyhow, I feel strange posting something that won't be read after 4 or 5 days so... But yeah, some control must be put around here. |
no idea where Subtle is, tbh... think he's away for a bit again. DFelon does a fairly good job, mind.
In other news, are you a user I know? |
By the way, Jason, I never thanked you properly (or rather, at all) for your great critique of my piece. So I will now.
Thank you for the great critique of my piece. Now doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. |
haha, indeed it does - you're welcome. It's always nice to crit something half-decent and original for a change. Your crit was equally appreciated :)
|
I'm gonna go out and crit some work and try to promote my own... you know, play by S&L's rules, for a change? I might even get back into this again...
|
Is there not a S&L specific mod? You don't see much administration traffic here.
|
heh, yeah... I've been getting back into the flow of things recently. I have to admit I've had a quick read through tonight's, but there's nothing I really fancy critting... I'm pretty tired - it's 4am. :(
|
DFelon is mod, and he's fairly good - SD is good too... but neither of them are S&L exclusive - Subtle mods the pit, and DFelon mods Hardcore/Emo.

Seems like there could be use for an exculisve one, especially in light of all the clogging that happened not to long ago. Also, am I the only one noticing an epidemic of lack of punctuation amidst all the things posted these days? People just don't seem to realize the beauty and depth a piece of writing can get from proper use of punctuation, especially mid-sentence. |
unfortunately, as you spend longer here (not like you haven't already, but barring a name change, you seem new to this forum at least) you'll realise that correct spelling is a major victory for a majority of users. Punctuation is kind of an 'added extra'. Sad, really.
Don't hold your breath about getting a mod. Pop-Punk hasn't even got one mod, and no-one will do anything about that. :( |

Has no one ever even tried to suggest it? As for the punctuation, I feel really moved to make a thread about it, but Im not sure what I would say, writing is second nature to me, so I guess all i can do is keep correcting it as I have been. |
it has been suggested several times. When I joined, BenBaker was just about leaving. I think it took 4 months before Subtle became mod.
It's been raised a couple of times in the site forum, once by myself, but both times it was shot down. Shame really. |

just that they don't think one is needed at the moment.
It will be the same this time, as technically, we have two very good mods. Unfortunately, it seems to be a problem that only S&L users notice - both mods aren't really S&L regs, they're Lyrical Challenge regs, and while they do pick up a lot of the crap in the main forum, they don't always get those threads that end up as flame-fests, or the users that cause trouble. Thankfully, at the moment we don't get too many, but in the winter they really come out in force. |

We should get some more people together and number out the reasons etc... It might take some work, but I think it is worth it. |
sadly, I wouldn't hold your breath. Pop-Punk has a really, really strong case for a new mod (or just 'a' mod!), but they weren't given one. It's worth a shot, and I'll support any attempts to get a dedicated S&L mod, but it's not likely.

That's not the attitude we need :p . We should leave this for some more insight now. Have you any pieces I haven't critic'd? |
not really - the ones you haven't critiqued are all really old... I've not been writing much recently - got divorced and all, so tried not to write about stuff, as it'd probably come out horrendous.

Oh, sorry to hear about that man, hope it all goes well for you. I would actually tell you to write more now as it is a release; I always find my best work is shown when Im under the influence of some greater emotion. |
Thanks - the worst is over, just wasn't much fun for a while. :)
I have a borderline negative writing style anyway (although I prefer writing positive stuff, for some reason I tend to write more negative pieces...odd really.) and writing about that heavy a subject would have been overkill. |

I always try and sieze any emotion I have and put it on paper; then I let it rest a day and see how it is when I feel better, or different at least. |
I don't really know why I didn't try... I think in all honesty I was so preoccupied with everything I was too tired to have anything left to be creative with.
In actual fact, the piece I wrote this week on here (Chasing Games) was about the situation... so I guess I do release, I just held it up for a while. |

It was very good talking to you, I do hope to read more from you soon. EDIT: It would be great if you guys could post examples of problems we have had that wouldn't be here with a mod present: -I got the Nestle thread -I got the lyrics, double post I also think it is practically imposible for Burt to effectivly mod "The Pit" and keep track of reviewed and posted for users. |

In other news, are you a user I know?
I don't think so. My heavier load of work has been for about 6 months tops, therefore I guess you don't know me. I could link you to some of my older stuff, If you wish. And about the dedicated S&L mod, it's highly unlikely. People like Sloth, that have bee nhere for a while a nd have great taste/criticism and such, don't have over 2000 posts, which isn't arecquirement, really, but at least it kinda makes you think "wow, he posts a lot he must be smart lol". On the other hand (still a bad hand) there isn't that much people/users traffic in this place. At most, on heavily loaded days, you can see 10-15 people in here, and most of the people just get in, sumbit 3 or 4 poems, then run and hide and expect some crits to go on. That's not right. Besides, many of the works in this part of the forum get 20-30 visits, but just 2-3 replies. What the hell...! I think we need to tighten up that matter. We should, at least, give a little opinion on whatever we read, no matter if it says "lol 1 diddnt enderstnd 1t lol". It's much better to see a bad reply than no reply at all. And the poets are strange people, there's hardly ever someone who rates a lot of poems. |
