does Budokan have the extended jam version of hollow years?
cause I have a live cd of the train of thought tour, with a cover that looks a lot like the TOT cover, but with pink flowers and all.
and they do a great extended version of hollow years,
hollow years is such a great song, Brings back great memories about me and my ex GF

Hive 03-27-2005 06:22 PM

anyone know where I can find a large DT logo?

the2stranger 03-28-2005 10:17 AM

have you tried google? or their own site?

RiceMonster 03-28-2005 10:32 AM
Yes, found it on Limewire. Its at BB King's in NYC. And he really does slightly fudge the first two arpeggios. Not really a mess up, just not 100% clean.
I had a video of The Glass Prison as well. It wasn't bad, I deleted it though.

Right, i want to make a Dream Theater compilation for my bf and myself, and i wondered which songs i should put on it, i am finding trouble because all of them are so good, and i can't put them ALL on, but it would be nice, but not possible somehow.

Please give me your views on likely songs.

Cheers then.

Aimée 03-29-2005 05:37 AM

I've only started to get into DT, and so far i've liked the songs i've heard :) The one i keep listening to though is, As i am, great song.

jpshortstuff 03-29-2005 05:43 AM

does anyone have any idea when their next CD is coming out (or if) - im dying of anticipation

Werny 03-29-2005 05:50 AM

I don't really get it. DT are something I usually love. A mix of artiness, 70's psychedelia and heavy metal, it seems like they'd be my favourite band. But alas... they just don't click with me. I have a few albums (ok, 7) burnt, and I love the song Pull Me Under. I love Portnoy's robotic drumming, and Petrucci's mad fast playing, but especially on the heavy stuff I fricking hate the vocals. The singer ruins As I Am (but I love the eargasmic drum solo).

Wait a second... this Overture 1928 song is pretty shnazzy.

Anyway yes, they are very cool in places but yeah... just... I don't know what doesn't keep me coming back. Maybe it's Tool syndrome (they take ages to grow).

I guess my question is, did Dream Theater take ages to grow on anyone here?

badtaste 03-29-2005 05:53 AM

Anyone here also on the DT message board? I've got a bad rep there, so I'll keep my username to my self.

And isn't the new album out in June or something? Check their official website.

Firecracker 03-29-2005 05:56 AM

I just fudging loved "In The Name Of God" and i just bought bought bought.
And i think his voice is brilliant.

Josh 03-29-2005 06:09 AM

in the name of god isn't one of my favourites, its not bad but for me its too long. my favourite song from train of thought at the moment is honor thy father

jpshortstuff 03-29-2005 06:13 AM

honor thy father is pretty **** good but i think endless sacrifice wins it in terms of being a perfected masterpiece that never ceases to encapture the mind and soul in a fiery abyss of incredibleness

just an opinion

Firecracker 03-29-2005 06:16 AM

^i'n shuvving endless sacrifice on, and not honor thy father. Endless sacrifice just rules so much on many levels.

Grey Incision 03-29-2005 06:21 AM

hmm, i needed advice, i like dream theater, but i am not a die hard fan, and i need to know their hardest keyboard solo. A friend of mine can do anything that i've given him by dream theater, but i need the Hardest keyboard solo, try and screw him up.

jpshortstuff 03-29-2005 06:26 AM

try 'Keyboard Solo' on Live In Budokan

the2stranger 03-29-2005 06:40 AM

has he already tried the ytse jam?
or any rudess solo work?
try if you can find something from his 4nyc cd, that pretty nice, and difficult

i am

why?

Daven 03-29-2005 11:59 AM

i need some help. People say that 6 degrees of inner turbulence last for 42 minutes and i also thought that, but i just bought the cd and i noticed that the 42 minutes is the duration of the six degrees (that are separated songs i think). So whyy people says that it lasts 42 minutes if there is no 6 degrees of inner turbulence song. Or the six songs count as one whole song.

correct me if im wrong

the2stranger 03-29-2005 12:08 PM

the 2nd cd, of 6 degrees off inner turbulence is a concept album, telling a story.
and the story is diveded in 6 'chapters' or 6 individual songs if you like it :p
but the cd is to bee seen as one song :thumb:

Daven 03-29-2005 06:07 PM

oh ok thanx

pdizzle 03-29-2005 06:57 PM

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I wasn't in the mood to go through 39 pages of posts. I've been listening to Dream Theater awhile and recently I've been looking for similar artists, I know of some, but most are instrumental. While that is okay, I would rather have some singing, so...what are some good bands similar to Dream Theater?

willis2441 03-29-2005 06:58 PM

man1 hour ago this thread was more dead than my grandma
