Elstelladorian Highlander 09-23-2004 12:02 AM

Hey, i just wanna say that I like this website a lot. Ive had about 5 accounts, and each time i get banned after about 100 or so posts. I never spam, and dont piss everyone off everytime I post. I would just like to know why i get banned. Last time someone finally told me, but i still have no idea why I got banned the other four. (Last time i made a best cd poll) Is it possible to get banned for no reason? I see a lot worse things said than anything I say around here, and I still happen to get banned. I guess im asking that if someone gets banned, then a mod or someone of high rank around here should state why they got banned, so next time if they have an account they know what not to do. I think its only fair.

Also, i read a few rules that i didn't agree with. When I made my poll thread about "Best Metal Cd", i got a few responses right away. I thought it was a decent poll. Then some guy said, "this poll is against the rules, you are banned." Well okay, I broke the rules, so I SHOULD be banned. I think though that the rules like "No versus threads" are unfair and stupid rules. I like listening to people talk about stuff like that, and ive seen a lot of conversations on here where people talk about "who's better than who". And the people that don't like the threads don't have to post in it. I see people always saying,"this thread sucks." Well okay then, i have a solution. YOU SHOULDN'T POST IN IT. I understand 90% of the rules though. You mods are trying to keep this website clean of spam and innapropriate posting. Thats good. I just dont totally agree with a few rules. I see a lot of dickwads who piss people off all the time, but have somehow found their way up to 1000+ posts. Well, what the hell? I think about what i type, respect others, and get banned cause i accidently made a thread thats against the rules, even though people were posting in it and showing positive vibes. I think you should do away with some of your regulations, such as "no vs. threads", or "best band threads", and concentrate more on things like, "no unneccessary flaming", or things along that line.

For people coming on here and saying stupid things, they'll either learn, or leave. Ive learned, but still i get banned. And its for stupid ****. I guess if nobody cares about what i just said, or i dont change anything, or get flamed for this post, than whatever.

I guess i just want people to take into consideration what ive said, and think about it. I mean whats worse, making a "Best metal cd" poll, or telling someone to suck their dads cock for no reason. Well, obviously to the mods, its making the "best metal cd" poll.

Riva 09-23-2004 05:11 AM

It's probably making posts like these that gets you banned.

Seriously, don't have a go at the mods just because you stuffed up a few times. And I really do hate threads titled "Best CD ever!", because everyone will always disagree. This type of thread just leads to people flaming each other anyway, so why bother posting it.

whatever man. You're really stupid. There as SOOOOOO many threads where everyone will always disagree. (like best masked band poll)Thats what this forum is all about. That is a lame *** arguement. If this type of post just leads to people flaming eachother, than any other post will too. Some people though wanna have threads like that, and post in them. And yeah, i critisized the mods, after I praised them and this website.
I was trying to get something productive done, besides just saying,"**** off, ur gay!!!!!". Thats what i should be doing(getting productive things done.

Ok, so I'm stupid because I don't like "Best CD ever" threads? Also, the rules clearly state that no "Best" threads are to be made. The "best masked bands" thread either slipped under the radar, or the mods decided that it was provoking serious discussion. And I never said other threads won't promote argument, I just said "Best CD ever" threads would. And if you enjoy flaming people in threads, there is a place for it, it is called "The Pit".
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=3

And as to your argument saying you criticised the mods, after you praised them, is like saying I killed a guy, but I sent him flowers first, so obviously I'm not as guilty. I especially like how productive you are; nothing like useless flaming and complaining about everthing to increase efficiency.

In conclusion, since this is the Report Problems thread, I'd like to report the "Best Masked Bands" thread:

So that this little cry-baby doesn't cry anymore. Thanks SFK, Superpeer and Chris (got to 307, and forgot the rest, sorry. )

I never flamed anybody, just said i think the mods sometimes look at the wrong reasons to ban people. You started flaming me first. WTF? Okay, check my posts, and see how dumb i am. Just cause i made a suggestion about how to make things better doesn't mean im flaming people. Agree? And you know what, i could be wrong about what i stated earlier. People make mistakes, I obviously don't know as much as someone like "superpeer" or "IamSuperdan", but that doesn't mean i cant give advice or constructive criticism. At least im not you and say,"oh, your an idiot", and not even take my point into consideration. I never whined.

Those threads are illegal because they all turn into flame wars. We the mods have the rules there for a reason, each rule can be defended.

It's good that you're suggesting things though, rather than just saying the mods are stupid.

What, I typed a wrong key. Whoops, that DEFINITELY deserved some mindless, inappropriate flaming. You spend time on a computer yet you still don't understand that a mistype doesn't mean you don't know how to spell. Wow, thats insane. Talk about mindless flaming, hypocrite.

i didn't say it was, i said i think it should be. Im suggesting that it be made official. Its up to the mods to make it official(as we both know), and whatever decision they make ill respect it and deal with it. its not really a big deal either way.

Riva 09-24-2004 04:32 AM

Ok, my mistake. Sorry dude.

Anyways, I was thinking. With the feature artists, it's kinda mixed up and confusing so far. I was thinking that you mods could make a sticky and call it "Featured Artists" or something, and have every Featured Article posted in there. (Sort of how every Forced Listening review is posted in the same thread). That way, there would be one place for someone to view each article, and people could post their responses under each article, as well as call the next one.

And either you mods, or maybe Medapolis (since he wrote the first one, very well I might add) and another user could moderate the thread and remove any spam/ crappy articles as well as regulate who called the next Featured Artist, etc.

So, to sum it up; We have one thread, which is stickied, as a kind of Be All and End All of "Featured Artists" articles. This way allows everyone to view it, since Medapolis' first didn't recieve the attention I think it deserved. And have some (intelligent) people moderate it, to ensure nothing stupid creeps in.

What do you guys think?

We can't do the one user moderating a specific thread idea. It's a good idea, but I don't think it's possible.

I like the idea of having a thread with links to all featured artists though, kind of like the Reviewed List in CD Reviews.

manuscriptreplica 09-24-2004 08:23 PM

The 'dream bands' threads was initially banned because there was one being made every day. I think they should be allowed, maybe have an 'official' dream bands thread? It doesn't cause that much flaming, and it can be interesting.

Oh, by moderate, I mean Medopalis would ask you guys to remove posts etc. I didn't actually mean to make him a mod. Thanks for considering it though. :)
