Its because with Metallica is played by everyone... Like its all you ever hear... the band may be alright but its the people who support them.

Also it seems that the first song they write 'One' Was there best... Also i just don't like people going round thinking Metallica are the best have the world to offer... where there are underground bands that are better (in my mind)

Of course there are better bands than Metallica, but why live in a society where you are forced to only be able to like the best? That way leads to elitism as far as I've seen.

And yes, One is one of their best songs, if not their absolute best. The version on S&M is jaw dropping.

My favourite at the moment is Call of Ktulu though.

no, its just i usually long to have a sunday off work and no i have i'm doing sweet FA

Also the Drumming is pretty poor as its pretty much the same (as my drummer tells me) the singing doesnt do it for me yet Kirk Hammet is really cool and i like him

Ah, I love Hetfield's voice. His recent one anyway. Post Black Album. When he had to learn to sing properly. Kirk Hammett is infact very overrated, and there are many better guitarists, but I think he is pretty slick still! Lars isn't the best at all, and recently, his drumming has slowed down, and become sloppy, yet I think he still strives to find good new beats (if you've seen SKOM, you'll see what I mean), and without his business sense and songwriting (look at how many writing credits Ulrich has) it wouldn't be Metallica. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Lars Ulrich is the most basic drummer in the world but he contributes too much to Metallica for him not be a viable member
James never wanted to sing, when they were recording their demo 'No Sleep Till Leather' they were still looking for a full time singer to replace James

but the best assesst is James' rhythm ability and his writing ability

Anthony, I agree entirely. Hetfield is, for my money, one of the finest rhythm players around. Especially being self taught (he originally played drums, and has no formal guitar training) and singing at the same time.

but Mustaine is just as good at rhythm imo

I don't get on with Slipknot, but I agree that Joey is a good drummer (though sloppy sometimes, and he *is* overrated ;)), and Corey has a quite pleasing scream, and pseudo rap voice, and the axework doesn't seem too bad. Just in the context of the entire band, and the music they make, I don't enjoy it.

When people cite Surfacing to be an amazing song, for example, it makes me cringe.

a good drummer definately, but there are many much better than him, and really i think my drummer could come up with such lines
he is definately overrated
my faveourite slipknot song is vermilion
and they have like how many people in the band?
no wonder they have to play every fest going just to afford food each

i'm not a big fan of the 'knot but i did quite like their last album, whatever its called

I'm not bashing on Nu-Metal though. I like System (though they are a little lumped in with Nu-Metal), as well as Korn, and Limp Bizkit to an extent (their more rocky stuff... I don't like Durst. Without Durst, they would be an amazing band).
