Listening to Buddy Guy and day off of work. I'm doing good.

ATM 06-13-2005 12:46 PM

I just got home from my art class about an hour ago. Now I am about to smoke, and then listen to some music while I wait for my friend to get home so we can jam.

Bus: Did you download the Buddy Guy album from the Other Music YSI thread? I love it.

I was just outside without a shirt on, playing my acoustic, and smoking a jack.

That was so nice.

I read that and felt a brief moment of complete inner peace (/emo). I wish I could hit some greenery...

Hello daytime regulars. Due to new work scheduling I will be here during the day more often.

Lord Abortion 06-13-2005 01:24 PM

ahhh... crap, I thought there was going to be a slipknot interview on radio 1... haven't heard it yet

Bartender 06-13-2005 01:27 PM

I just saw/listened to an interview with U2 on BBC2. It was pretty funny, in a certain way. Hearing Bono say "don't you just hate whinging rockstars?" was probably the best moment.

I hate Bono. He's a disgrace for the Irish. They are usually cool. :(

Anyway, check out my thread in the pit! It's going better than I expected.

Get em' off slsk.

Illmatic 06-13-2005 04:09 PM

I. O.J. was about a black man beating the system...Jacko hasn't been black in a long time (heck, I don't think he's been in black in many of your lifetimes). I mean, we were certainly behind him, but it wouldn't going to be as much of a triumph if he won.
II. The backdrop is far more enticing: O.J. was being tried in LA, where not too long before, riots broke out after the white police who were caught beating Rodney King were all acquitted. So all black folks were cheering him on...my uncles and cousins were all literally celebrating after hearing he was found not guilty.
III. The White Bronco chase was absolutely surreal and the most memorable TV moments of all time...everyone who saw it remembers exactly where they were when they saw it. Also, the trial was more highly publicized than Jacko's. Jacko's is a bit more of a triviality, but O.J's was a spectacle, a sensation. It was on just about every channel.
IV. The acquittal was far more of a shock: With Jacko, it's plausible to assume that the kids highly exaggerated what actually happened, but it would take a miracle to convince everyone that OJ didn't kill Nicole and Ron.
V. The "unknown" factor...I was just a kid during the O.J. trial and I didn't know who he was...I didn't know he was a hall-of-fame running back, I didn't know he was the first guy to rush for 2,000 yards in a season, I didn't know he was the costar in a Steve McQueen movie. So O.J. himself was far more intriguing to me than Jacko was (because we've all heard Jacko's story to death). And everyone who was my age during the trial (which lasted from when I was 8 to about 10 or 11) always associates him with his trial, which I doubt anyone will do with Jacko.
VI. "The glove didn't fit"

Just some reactions to watching the reading of the verdict of the Michael Jackson trial in comparison to the other megatrial of my lifetime: The O.J. Simpson one.
