Damn right, man. If you ever get the chance to see This Bike, make sure you do. It was such a fun show.
Damn right, man. If you ever get the chance to see This Bike, make sure you do. It was such a fun show.
The definatley seem like they would be fun live. Most PIX bands do.

Bukowski 02-13-2006 02:38 PM

Folk Punk = fun. I'm seeing Against Me in March, that should also be great, although i've got a math exam the next day.

el doctor 02-13-2006 02:51 PM

Robert Pollard - From a Compound Eye

I've really been digging this since its release. Rather than trying to emulate the past or aim for radio play, Pollard just went and threw together a mix of some damn good songs.

I'm seeing them on Thursday.

I've been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash lately. I saw the film the other day. It was good but the singing sections were heads and shoulders above the rest of it for me.

Reel Big Fish <3

Still digging The Essential Johnny Cash.

Zappa 02-13-2006 06:49 PM

Harvey Danger - Where Have All the Merrymakers Gone?

I thought about their big hit the other day for no real reason. "Flagpol Sitta" was sooo snotty when I was 10.

At that point the other day, I thought to myself "self, I wonder how easily you could download that album." So I looked for it, and it was quite easy indeed.

I'm on like the third track, and this is pretty sweet, honestly.

Happymeal 02-13-2006 07:20 PM

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Naturally

Fecking fantastic. Not the best soul/funk album but it's got enough soul and funk to keep you coming back for more. So yeah, I've been digging them and Mudhoney.

i am thw walrus 02-13-2006 07:20 PM

For the last week I've been mostly listening to the Beatles and Morrissey. a little modest mouse and the cure as well.

Zappa 02-13-2006 07:29 PM

So after three songs that Harvey Danger album makes you comatose. But those first three tracks, man, not bad.

Hot Cross' Cryonics is pretty dope.
And I've been diggin the 6 or 7 RJD2 songs I have.
I got GodWeenSatan and I am completely blown away.
Well from there you have about 3 choices.

You could progress the cds Ween released by getting the Pod next. It has many tracks like GWS but it way lo-fi and some of the songs aren't great.

You could go for their 4th cd, Chocolate and Cheese, if you enjoy their songwriting ability and want the disc with their biggest hit (Push th Lil Daisies)

Or you could get Pure Guava, reguarded as their best but probably weirdest, and noisiest.

asymm 02-14-2006 12:08 AM

Prefuse 73 - Surrounded By Silence
Skyphone - Fabula

Little Man being Erased 02-14-2006 12:28 AM

The Who - The Who Sell Out

Not entirely digging this. I think if all the little "product plugs" were removed, it would be much better. It just gets annoying as it is.

br3ad_man 02-14-2006 01:15 AM
Dirty Three - Cinder

"Sad Sexy" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
For sure.

I ordered a Hot Cross poster and Fused Together In Revolving Doors by The Red Chord. All for $13US including shipping. Not bad.

rbv 02-14-2006 01:16 AM

I'm digging Some By Sea that I got from the electric groove blog that someone posted on here but has recently been deleted.

it's pretty cool, sounds kind of like Arcade Fire except less rocky, I like it.

br3ad_man 02-14-2006 01:17 AM

Have any of you guys ever heard of Rustcycle?

rbv 02-14-2006 01:18 AM

he's awesome

br3ad_man 02-14-2006 01:27 AM

heh, I just saw the thread...he sent me a myspace message asking me to review his cd and wondered if anyone had heard of him.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Source Tags and Codes

Fuck man. I haven't listened to this album in waaaaay too damn long. It's still as awesome as I remember.

I feel sorry for you yanks that missed out on the bonus track "Blood Rites."

br3ad_man 02-14-2006 01:42 AM

and "Invocation"
What? Has it leaked?

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-14-2006 04:27 AM

It has leaked.

I have yet to acquire it, though.

OrbDragon 02-14-2006 05:41 AM

Urgh! I downloaded Free Radicals out of curiosity...and it's pretty dreadful. Wayne, you are in The Flaming Lips, not in Spoon!

I also don't like the production, is so cold...it doesn't give me that fuzzy warm feeling inside when I usually hear their records.

I'm reluctant now to hear the rest of the album, but I'm still going to get it once it's released. No more downloading for now, 'cause I can only take one disappointment at a time :(
