I made a bet with a friend a while ago that tool will win another grammy for a song off the next album. I have a feeling theyll have some song that will get mayor radio time. they always do.

I wonder if they make em on purpose like that. Like schism.I dunno.

Artemician 06-18-2005 03:05 PM

Tool don't strike me as the sort of band who will intentionally make radio/TV singles. I might be a bit biased by the fact that they're my favorite band, but I still hold that opinion.

clearvision 06-18-2005 03:06 PM

They do though...

Sober, Stinkfist, Schism...

Odds that the song that gets played on the radio starts with an S???

Futuro 06-18-2005 03:06 PM

they do it on pupose....its so they can tell a story through there music videos.

Mr Herb 06-18-2005 03:08 PM

Wow lol all start with S. Yeah theyll prob wanna make a song that will show off their vid. Id like to see them in it one of this days doing something like. . .making fun of something like they did for Hush

Kage 06-18-2005 03:09 PM

The title tracks of both Lateralus and Aenima got radio airplay as well.

clearvision 06-18-2005 03:10 PM

Does sweat off Opiate count too?

That'd be wierd

I was discussing radio with my dad earlier today.

I decided that english radio don't play anything with a distorted guitar unless it's in the top 40.

I have never heard a tool song on the radio, and doubt i ever will. The closest thing we have to radio that plays sme tool is MTV2, I have seen Sober on there once, and Schism once too.

Many radio stations in england are part of the same network, they play pop songs, mainly from the 90's, not too much new stuff. Most hxC stuff you find is Green Day :(

Lateralus did???its like 9 minuetes and stuff?? awsome!! the biggest hit they had here was H. and parabola

Mr Herb 06-18-2005 03:15 PM

Also they tend to give more radio play to bands from England. Its like for pride or soemthing. They support this brit pop thing, like muse and colplay and they also seem to like indie.

Kage 06-18-2005 03:15 PM

I've only heard Latearlus a precious once, and Aenema once as well, both in other cities from where I live. Here, they play Schism every once in awhile and Sober semi-frequently. I don't really listen to radio very much, even though I do owe my Tool fan status to hearing Schism on the radio that one fateful day...

Mr Herb 06-18-2005 03:16 PM

Schism well forever be special. I discovered it the day I got dumped. It helped a lot. :chug:

Futuro 06-18-2005 03:19 PM

tool is played all the time where i live. i have heard aenima 2 times in one day :p

clearvision 06-18-2005 03:19 PM

I've never liked schism, it never really stuck with me...

Aenima was my intro track, but sober egged me on to get an album.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-18-2005 03:32 PM

Schism video started me off. Then I waited up till 12 for the premier of the parabola video, before buying my first Tool album the next day

I still remember the first time I saw the Schism video 4 years ago... It wasn't the first time I'd heard tool.. But it was what made me get all their music

Artemician 06-18-2005 04:05 PM

Schism was my Tool first as well, though I didn't know that it was called Schism (or was even by Tool) at the time.

Stinkfist was what really got me to go and pick up an album though.

Matter 06-18-2005 04:33 PM

I've been a fan since undertow...I was really into metallica, pantera, slayer and megadeth and so forth at the time.(my older bros were listening to that stuff so I was to...8/...)
I wasn't even playing drums yet I was like 13-14 years old and had heard sober and was like WTF....So I ganked the CD from my brother and after playing it through once I instantly knew there was something really amazing and different about this band, and I've listened to them pretty much everyday since. Thier music has actually pulled me out some tough times(through thier very difficult to decipher positive message of course.)

Merkaba 06-18-2005 04:33 PM

I got stinkfist recorded. Its not too bad for a bedroom job...I'll have it uploaded sometime tonight...saturday June 18th....probably while I eat greasy food and watch snl. i have to make up a soundlick account.

I found out by doing stuff like this that I love mixing. I did about five seperate tracks in the middle interlude...probably more than maynard does...on the verge of getting crowded but I hope its not so that you might have to "dig" through it a few times to hear everything. Like when you first heard stinkfist you were like thats awesome..then one day you hear another whisper..then another...etc. But i had a ball trying to use the crappy audacity effects to get something decent. I'll be back shortly!

Rothmans 06-18-2005 04:35 PM

That sounds sooo class I cant wait to hear that.

Adam Jones is GOD 06-18-2005 04:35 PM

What parts you got recorded? Im assuming vocals since you refer to MJK

Merkaba 06-18-2005 04:48 PM

Yea....vocals...I downloaded the instrumental from the Markmatter site... Is that you Matter? I thought it was under a different screen name where i got that link .

clearvision 06-18-2005 04:52 PM

Yeah it's him, yo probably got it off r0under's s/n...they work together :)

Merkaba 06-18-2005 04:52 PM

right...rounder...that was it. cool beans. Its crazy how close these guys got this music to the original. Here i was getting ready to play my crappy $100 musicians friend special through a digitech rp200 just trying to get a basic done...then I found that post. Sheewww....i was really about to embarass myself...hehe..I'm NOT the seasoned guitar player.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-18-2005 04:55 PM

Ok, I am going to create a Soundclick just for the Tool project. I created one earlier under my account, but I'm just going to create an entire account for this. That way, I can give the password to more people. :D

Kage 06-18-2005 04:55 PM

Good. We need someone who'll get organized.

denboy 06-18-2005 04:57 PM

What's r0under/matters soundclick?
