Lots of the Rock In Rio setlist (or RiR as we know it) is from the Brave New World (BNW) album.

Their other classic albums are Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (SSOASS), Number of the Beast (NotB) and we never seem to be able to decide on a third one.

If you want to hear stuff NOT on RiR, get Dance Of Death (DoD) which was written after that concert. That too is also an amazing album with some of their best songs on it.

or, as i said before, get Somewhere in Time

the_uber_penguin 10-18-2005 01:03 PM

I've just started recording with my band and have finished these two songs so far. What do you think of them? They are here. Dibs for guessing which part was ripped almost straight from Iron Maiden's style.
What is everyones favorite song off of Powerslave. Mine is either 2 minutes to midnight or Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

I used the latter for an english project two years ago. We needed to find a song about the short story Ryme of the Ancient Mariner. The song is pretty much a summary of the story.
I gotta go with the title track, not only is is it my favorite off the album, it's my favorite Maiden song in general.

My favorite songs at the moment are the Clansman and Wrathchild. Don't know what era Iron Maiden that is though. The songs off of BNW are mostly on the first disc (I think) their pretty good too so I'll look around for that.

the clansman is from the Virtual XI album, Blaze era
Wrathchild is from Killers, Paul era

Surtr 10-18-2005 05:29 PM

Hmm...I'd say go for NOTB or SSOASS..but if you like some of the RiR songs such as Brave New World, The Mercenary or anything like that...buy Brave New World or Dance Of Death.

classicrockman 10-18-2005 06:19 PM

1. Iron Maiden
2. Number of the Beast
3. Powerslave
4. Killers
5. Brave New World
6. Piece of Mind
7. Live After Death
8. Fear of the Dark
9. Somewhere in Time
10. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

Thought I'd drop my opinion on my favorite Maiden albums. My list is nothing much from the usual...except that Maiden's s/t album is my favorite. :thumb:

Surtr 10-18-2005 06:26 PM

1. Brave New World
2. Dance Of Death
3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
4. Powerslave
5. Number Of The Beast
6. Piece of Mind
7. Iron Maiden
8. Killers
9. Virtual XI
10. Death On The Road...

And of course RiR is on that list...but it's to good to go with most of those albums...

classicrockman 10-18-2005 06:28 PM

I happen to a be a fan of very early Iron Maiden...nut BNW was a good album.

clairvoyant 10-18-2005 06:35 PM

1. Number of the Beast
2. Somewhere In Time
3. Powerslave
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. Piece of Mind
6. Brave New World
7. Killers
8. Iron Maiden
9. Fear of the Dark
10. Dance of Death

ashman 10-18-2005 06:50 PM

Since it seems to be a trend atm;

1) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
2) Somewhere In Time
3) Brave New World
4) X Factor
5) Iron Maiden
6) No Prayer for the Dying
7) Piece of Mind
8) Number of the Beast
9) Powerslave
10) Fear of the Dark

That was hard dammit, I love all Maiden albums..

Lord Abortion 10-18-2005 06:55 PM

Gah...
1.Piece of mind
2.X-Factor
3. Seventh son of a seventh son
4. brave new world
5. killers
6.powerslave
7. number of the beast
8.Iron Maiden
9. somewhere in time
10.dance of death.

Deth 10-18-2005 07:12 PM

1) Powerslave
2) SSOASS
3) Somewhere In Time (right now anyway)
4) Brave New World
5) Iron Maiden
6) Piece Of Mind
7) Killers
8) Dance Of Death
9) Number Of The Beast (Hallowed is it's only real saviour)

So as you can see, I'm missing all the ninties stuff, though I'm looking for the X-Factor now.

What about Prisoner? Invaders? Total Eclipse? Run to the Hills? Number of the Beast? 22 Acacia Avenue? Ace songs...

Deth 10-18-2005 07:24 PM

I really don't like The Prisoner and Gangland, Invaders and Total Eclipse are decent, 22 Acacia Avenue and Run To The Hills are good, and NOTB and HBTN are fantastic.

There just isn't as many amazing tracks on that album if you ask me.

I love prisoner, solely just for the Arpeggio H does before the solo. Total Eclipse is just ace...and you've just made the list dammit!

Deth 10-18-2005 07:29 PM

Well, I'm right and that's all that matters :stubborn:.

You look a lot more metal than I do Ash.

NP: Remember Tomorrow

Fair enough, not gonna argue with that.

The silly thing is; I'm half A-rab, so when people see me in the streetthey think I'm some sort of hippity hopper when I'm not wearing a maden shirt :upset:

Deth 10-18-2005 07:37 PM

Solution: Buy more Maiden shirts.

I've found that solves most problems.

3/4 of my shirts are maden t-shirts...I seem to scare a lot of people off when I wear a maiden t-shirt

Deth 10-18-2005 07:41 PM

Fools! I only have two myself.

classicrockman 10-18-2005 09:12 PM

Favorite Iron Maiden Songs (this is incredibly hard to chose for me):

1. Phantom of the Opera
2. The Number of the Beast
3. Killers
4. The Fallen Angel
5. Powerslave
6. Hallowed Be Thy Name
7. Transylvania
8. Wrathchild
9. The Trooper
10. Aces High
11. The Prisoner
12. Be Quick or Be Dead
13. Innocent Exile
14. Children of the Damned
15. Iron Maiden

Lists are fun. :)

...but no one cares. :upset:
