No I was specifically say just the G string (none others involved) out of tune...

gaslight 12-17-2009 10:33 PM

Harmonics on a bass are naturally slightly flat so if you tune your string sharp you will in fact produce "truer" harmonics at the expense of the open string and fretted notes.

but why

funkyhoney 12-17-2009 11:16 PM

Yeah that's kinda messed.

Cramboli 12-17-2009 11:20 PM

idk it happens...

Moon Flavor 12-17-2009 11:21 PM
idk it happens...
so i stand with my original point of you being retarded

Cramboli 12-17-2009 11:31 PM

I still stand by my point of having a slightly out of tune G string...
Settled?

Moon Flavor 12-17-2009 11:34 PM

Not really.

Like, tell me where you live so I can kick your *** until you decide to tune it.

Or at least so I can go tune it for you.

Cramboli 12-17-2009 11:39 PM

Well in that case meet me in a back alley between the pit and guitar forum and I'll let you do all the tuning you want...

It is deep. I'm actually glad he left them, I've always felt that the stuff he's produced outside of that band has been way better than what they produce. The Empyrean is one of my favorite albums.

Crapdragoon 12-18-2009 03:04 AM

oh man my made in japan squier jazz came in today

oh it plays so nicely

the guy installed noiseless pickups in it!! he included the originals and also threw in a black and tortoise pickguard!!

I like his solo stuff but there's not way in hell I'd say I enjoy it more than prime RHCP. Having said that, someone that creative with such ambition really is better off alone.

WTF TJ! Get out of the bass forums! These are my stomping grounds!

See you at practice tonight.

Even RHCP in their prime... I don't know, Anthony Keidis has always been the main thing wrong with the band, I much prefer listening to Frusciante's stuff, way better music, way better vocals.

They aren't even similar in vocal styles: apples to rattlesnakes.

Anthony has a very distinct style that contrasts well with John's harmonies and it all meshes quite well with the overall quirkiness of the band. Without Anthony fronting the band, I'd be willing to bet that you never would have heard of RHCP.

I've been lurking here ever since the 13 Crosses thread. I had to reply to that post, since it dealt with Froosh.

Ok, fine, but otherwise...**shakes fist**

In other news, shielding, cleaning up the wiring, a shim, setup, and possible pickup wax-potting is going to cost me $250.

Goddam 8-string bass...

The tech also said that the pickups may not be able to be wax-potted and that I should consider some new pickups that are humbuckers.

Just do it yourself? All of those are pretty simple things.

PaulSimonon 12-18-2009 04:21 PM

And why did the tech say they may not be able to be potted? Assuming it's a regular old pickup, he's full of ****.

BenJammin 12-19-2009 06:07 AM

Looks pretty solid. Those Japanese Squiers are supposed to be awesome.

gaslight 12-19-2009 07:17 AM

Looks nice enough. Has a bit of that pre-loved look to it.

What I mean is that Kiedis is just kind of annoying and not that great a singer, but Frusciante is actually a really good singer and vocalist.

funkyhoney 12-19-2009 12:36 PM

Whelp, I just got woken up at 4.30 by a stupidly loud gecko. **** reptiles.

What's worse is the suns up now because all the douchebags in my state don't believe in daylight savings.

Spaceman Spiff 12-19-2009 02:45 PM

I don't think I've ever heard a gecko make noise, and I used to have three of them.

Spaceman Spiff 12-19-2009 04:07 PM

I just spent the last two hours cleaning up my house. It's looking better.
