"State the pros and cons of the pharmaceutical companies towards using a vaccine or medication to treat addictions."
does this make sense to anyone? It's on my health project rubric, and I really don't think they can have pros and cons "towards" something. |
Seems badly worded. Perhaps it means "State the pros and cons of the pharmaceutical companies working towards using a vaccine or medication to treat addictions.

I'm thinking she either meant this, or by "pros and cons" she meant positive and negative feelings, because that makes more sense with the article. |

Perhaps. If i read it like that it does make sense.

perhaps it's a combination of both your ideas... state your opinions, for and against, of pharmaceutical companies trying medications/vaccines to combat addiction.
(or maybe state the opinions given in the article) |

If you can cure an addiction (as in your reliance on the product and the effects to feel normal), you can still have one later and get addicted again, despite the fact that you were cured before. If you weened it off yourself, you have the willpower to resist it in the future. |
I think you're looking at it wrong.
There IS a cure for heroin addiction. Not sure about others but theres a chemical that stops the chemical receptors in your brain recognising the chemical. Unfortunately this means if you ever take it again you're likely to overdose due to you not being able to tell how much you've taken. Interesting point: The same chemical stops people wanting chocolate. |
And the track season begins.

yes. so that if your trying to quit drinking, and you drink. the smallest ammount will make you really sick - its a reaction thats wanted. it acts as a deterrent
think of it like an electric dog bark collar |
Interesting.
They've been testing out anti-gang alarms here. They seem to be working but are causing some controversy. They act to stop gangs of youths loitering outside shops and such by emitting a high pitched squeel that only people aged about 12-21 can hear. I know i cant hear it. But it stops them staying there long. Typically theres been an outcry from the 12-21 crowd about them. |
.....srsly? that sounds crazy
|
Kinda like a dog whistle. Does the job.
|
that would be so annoying for the majority of people aged 12-21 who are not in gangs.
|
Only if you hang around outside of shops.
|
does it ring all the time? or do they just press it when they see people hanging around?
|
All the time. But from what i hear, it only starts to affect you after about 10 minutes of being stood there.
|
okay i first interpreted it that it rang all the time and every time you walked by it or walked into the store it was annoying as hell.
|
one flew over the cuckoo's nest is the best book ever.
go ahead, argue with me. |

It does ring all the time. It's just one of those noises that stays in the background for a bit before it gets annoying. Pretty much like most bands i see around these days. |
