I don't understand calling dinner 'tea'. Tea is a drink.

Rancid Dan 06-03-2005 11:54 AM

In England sometimes we call dinner 'tea'.
I don't understand calling dinner 'tea'. Tea is a drink.
its a northern english thing i think. All the southerners ive spoke to call it dinner, most northeners call it tea. I call it tea, and dinner is at lunch time.

Rancid Dan 06-03-2005 11:56 AM

I call Lunch 'Lunch' though.
Sometimes i say Dinner sometimes i say Tea.

Notherners > Southerners

Kif 06-03-2005 11:57 AM
mmm tea... I think I'm gonna get some.
That sentence was a lot better until I realized it had the word "tea" in it

Too right.

But, North-west > North east > south west > south east

Kif 06-03-2005 12:01 PM

Anyone see Rick Gervais last night? Funny as hell, especially when he talked about his friend at the end and when he made fun of Steven Hawking. And they went to Lincoln (Where I live  )

I need the DVDs

America > UK because we don't have different words for anything depending on the region you live in. It's all the same.

Rancid Dan 06-03-2005 12:02 PM

YEAH, i was gonna say that.

Lincoln is also near me, and i recognised wehay road she went on and everything.

'You don't always have to have anal sex'

'Why not cum on his back'
America > UK because we don't have different words for anything depending on the region you live in. It's all the same.
Come on, you know that's not true.

Yeah, but you have different laws in different parts of the country....

No, it adds to class antagonisms.

:(
That probably could be true,
But 'girt' is a good word.

Untitled 06-03-2005 12:04 PM

One state its legal to marry horses, there was a tv show on it

Captain Jack Sparrow 06-03-2005 12:05 PM
Come on, you know that's not true.

Yeah, but you have different laws in different parts of the country....
That's because states have the power to insitute variations of federal laws according to the necessity of said laws in their area.
No, it adds to class antagonisms.
Nothing to do with class, its all about how northerns would pwn southerners.

Captain Jack Sparrow 06-03-2005 12:06 PM
One state its legal to marry horses, there was a tv show on it
No it isn't. There were some odd laws in the past 100 years, but they've all been invalidated to this date.

Channel 4, does not lie.

Firecracker 06-03-2005 12:08 PM

I just had a cup of tea.
I had my little finger sticking out aswell.

Captain Jack Sparrow 06-03-2005 12:08 PM
Channel 4, does not lie.
Apparently it does, because having studied law for five years, I know these things. All those laws about marrying animals and being allowed to beat your wife are no longer in effect.
